Chapter 9: Not So Friendly Dispute

Junhyung decided to skip his last class. He wanted to just leave the school but he knew he had to work on the project. ‘That better show up today.’ A smirk formed on his lips when he thought back to what happened in the bathroom. ‘Heh, that deserved it.’ He looked up at the clock to see what time it was when he heard the door open. He was not expecting the sight that met him when he looked over. His jaw came unhinged as he stared wide eyed as one of his best friends walked in holding the school in his arms.

“What the hell is this?!” Junhyung yelled glaring at the two. He watched as they both turned to him with surprised faces. He stood up from his chair angrily, knocking it to the ground.

“Hyung…it’s not what it looks like…” Gikwang said nervously as he took a step further into the room. He hugged the boy in his arms tighter, afraid that the other boy would lash out on him if he let him go.

Hyunseung looked up at Gikwang when his grip tightened. ‘What is he thinking? He’s going to get us both killed.’ He pushed on the other boy’s chest lightly, silently telling him to put him down. Gikwang ignored him, instead just tightening his grip even more.

“What, are you guys friends behind my back or something? Is that why you never join in the rest of our fun, Gikwang?!” Junhyung took a couple steps closer to the couple. “Just what the are you thinking?! He’s just a stupid, ty that doesn’t deserve to even be alive and yet here you are, hugging him to your body almost lovingly! What the hell man!?”

“Yes.” Gikwang lowered his head as he whispered the word.

“What was that?” Junhyung sneered at the boy.

Gikwang was silent for a few moments before slowly lifting his head and looking the older boy directly in the eye. “Yes. Hyunseung is my friend.” He glared back, daring the other boy to say something about it.

Junhyung was taken back. Gikwang had never really been one to stand up for much of anything ever since he had met him. He was always withdrawn and just went along with whatever the rest of the members wanted. So the fact that he was standing up for the person that he knew was hated completely surprised him.

“What did you say..?” Junhyung asked slowly as he walked even closer to the two.

“I said, Hyunseung is my friend and I’m sick and tired of you doing this to him. He never did anything to you!” Gikwang felt all the anger of Junhyung hurting the boy he cared so much about all come out at once. He just hoped that this rush of courage would last long enough to keep the two of them safe from harm.

Hyunseung sat in Gikwang’s arms shocked. ‘What the hell is he doing? He’s not my friend! I don’t have any friends. They all me.’ He didn’t know what he was supposed to do in this situation. ‘Why didn’t he just leave me alone? I didn’t need his help. I should have just gone home…’

Junhyung didn’t know how to respond. He felt so much anger and betrayal building up inside of him. He clenched his fists at his sides as his body shook slightly. He turned his eyes to the boy in Gikwang’s arms and felt his instincts take over his body. The next thing he knew his fist had flown up and connected with the short haired boy’s face. He stumbled back nearly dropping the older boy. He caught his balance just in time. Turning his attention back to the other boy he smirked slightly, spitting some blood onto the floor in front of him.

“I’m going to take Hyunseung home. You can work on the project by yourself. You’ve managed the last couple days, you can manage one more.” With that Gikwang turned and walked out of the room still carrying the injured boy and leaving and angry Junhyung behind.

Hyunseung sat in Gikwang’s arms not knowing what to do as they walked out of the school. ‘What the hell just happened…?’ He was so confused about what had happened between the supposedly good friends. Now he was stuck with getting carried down the street.

“You can let me down you know.” Hyunseung said with a slight sigh.

“We both know that you can barely walk. Besides, I have a lot I have to make up for.” Gikwang said as he continued walking. Hyunseung crossed his good arm across his chest and pouted once again but remained silent. The younger boy smiled slightly as he continued in his walk.

The couple had been walking for about twenty minutes and had ended up standing in front of a hospital. Gikwang looked down in his arms and noticed that the older boy had fallen asleep in his arms. He stared at the older boy for several long moments, his lips lifting into a smile and a blush staining his cheeks. He enjoyed looking at his features from such a close distance. His dark brown hair fell across his forehead, resting just above his thick rimmed glasses and his long eyelashes brushed gently against his cheeks.

‘He’s beautiful…’ Gikwang stood there for several minutes just taking in his features. He finally came out of his stupor when someone walking by accidently bumped into him. He quickly looked down again to see that the older boy was still sleeping before sighing and walking into the hospital.

Hyunseung groaned as he woke up slowly. His body was hurting and was even sorer than it had been before. He opened his eyes slowly and looked around the room. He jumped awake when he noticed that he was not in his own room, nor the nurse’s office at the school. He tried to lift himself off the bed but quickly fell again with a loud whimper due to the pain.

“Shh, it’s okay. You’re at the hospital.” Hyunseung looked over to see Gikwang sitting in the chair next to his bed wearing the same smile he had the first time this happened. Images of the fight between Gikwang and Junhyung returned to his head and he realized that the younger boy must have brought him here.

“Why did you bring me here? I don’t need your help, or any doctor’s help for that matter.” Hyunseung glared slightly though he hardly looked threatening from his position in the bed.

Gikwang chuckled a little bit. “You keep saying that but it seems to me like you do need my help.” His smile turn downward however, as he went silent. His eyes drifted down from the boys face and landed on his left arm which was now in a cast.  “I’m really sorry, Hyunseung-sshi...I should have stopped them…”

Hyunseung looked up at the boy’s face once again and was surprised to see how much sincerity was on it. ‘He really looks like he cares…no! It’s all an act to get back at me somehow. I won’t let that happen!’

“Yeah right. If you were really sorry you wouldn’t have let them do this to me. Now, just leave me alone and let me go home!” He forced himself up in his bed, ignoring the pain. With all the strength that he could muster, he lifted himself off the bed and walked angrily out of the room and the hospital. All the while he ignored the screams from both his body and the younger boy following behind him. It took all he had in him to escape around a corner and hide from the other boy. Finally, he was alone once again. He dropped to the ground in an alleyway as the pain took over his body. He only hoped that he would find the strength to at least return to his house before it was dark.
