Chapter 7:

Junhyung yelled out a curse as he kicked the chair in front of him. ‘Damn it! Where the hell is he?! It’s been four days already. I’m going to beat the out of him next time I see him.’ Junhyung stomped around the room, cursing the missing boy. Hyunseung had been missing ever since the day he punched the younger boy and ran off. Because he was still missing, the younger teenager was stuck doing all the work by himself, which was completely new to him. He had been struggling for the last two days, only getting a few more words of the song translated.

Junhyung stomped around the room for a few minutes before making up his mind and storming to the teachers’ office. He walked right in the room and up to his teacher. The teacher in turn looked up at the boy with a raised eyebrow.

“Where the heck is my partner?” He nearly yelled at the older male.

The teacher set the paper he was reading down on his desk as he turned his full attention to the student in front of him. Junhyung glared at the teacher expectantly.

“I have not heard any word on where Hyunseung-shi is.” He frowned slightly. “I wonder what could have happened…” The teacher went silent for a few moments before shaking his head slightly and returning his attention to the student standing before him. “Either way, if he’s here or not, the work needs to be done. You’re responsible for the work even if Hyunseung-shi is not at school.” He turned back to his desk.

“That’s not even fair! That is supposed to be helping with this project!” Junhyung yelled angrily.

“I told you to watch your language, Junhyung-shi!” the teacher spat at him, causing the young boy to lower his head and grumble towards the ground. Without saying anything more he turned and stomped out of the room, slamming the office door behind him. ‘Just you wait you …I’ll get you back for ditching me like this.’

Hyunseung sighed as he walked into his run-down apartment. He had just returned from his hometown. Running a hand through his tasseled locks, he plopped down face first onto his bed. Rolling over he stared up at the ceiling for several long moments. He sighed once again as he thought back on the last few days.

Flashback

“Hyunseung-ah, appa collapsed…”

Hyunseung froze, “Wait what?”

“They say he had a heart attack…He’s being brought to the hospital right now. Is there any way that you can get here..?” Hyunseung could tell that his mother was crying and her voice was laced with worry.

“Nh…” Hyunseung made a small noise of agreement as they ended their call. He sat in his chair staring into space for a few minutes. ‘Heartattack..?’ He tried to comprehend what was going on. Suddenly the sound of his cell phone hitting the floor woke him from his musings. He quickly stood and packed up his supplies. Turning to the sleeping boy beside him he hesitated slightly before reaching forward to wake him up.

“Mmm…go away…” Junhyung said in his sleep.

Hyunseung sighed angrily. ‘He needs to wake up…I need to go…I’m going to regret this…’ he reached forward once more, this time pushing the sleeping boy to the floor. Junhyung looked up at him angrily before yelling at him.

“I’m not failing this assignment because your pimp is calling. You can go him later. First we need to turn this in.” Something in Hyunseung snapped when he heard this. His hand clenched into a fist and the next thing he knew it had connected with the other boy’s face. His eyes went big for a moment before he quickly covered it and continued leaving. Once he was out of the room he took off running.

‘I can’t believe I just punched Junhyung…I’m so dead when I come back…but that felt so good…’ He shook his head. ‘I have more important things to think about right now.’ He pushed his legs even faster as he ran to the nearest bus stop that would take him to his hometown.

Hyunseung was sitting in the hospital in his hometown. He had been there two days now and his father was awake. The doctors said that it was a decently mild heart attack but he needed to be careful from now on. They had also installed a heart monitor in him to help him in case anything happened again. They said that he could go home the next day as long as he was careful to not exert himself.

“Hyunseung-ah, how is school going?” His father asked, making light conversation that wasn’t about how he was feeling.

Hyunseung faked a smile. “It’s going good, appa.”

“How are your friends? I haven’t heard from them in awhile.”

“They’re good, they are just all busy. Senior year, you know.” The lies came out easily now. He had been given plenty of time to come up with them that they came effortlessly now.

His father nodded his head and he relaxed into his pillow. “And how are your grades?”

“I’m still number one in my class.”

“That’s good. Wouldn’t want you to lose your scholarship now would we?” his father smiled lightly.

Hyunseung gave a very small, real smile in return. His father was the only one in his family that didn’t push him to be the best. He was good enough for him. He was happy just to have him as a son. He had always been closest with his father.

Hyunseung reached his hand forward, grabbing hold of his father’s hand and squeezing lightly. “Thank you, appa.” His father just nodded his head as he squeezed his son’s hand back.

“I’m going to take a nap now. You should go home and clean yourself up.” He smiled at his son. Hyunseung returned another small smile as he nodded his head.

End Flashback

Hyunseung sighed once again. He was happy that his father was okay but now he had new things to worry about. ‘Junhyung is going to kill me tomorrow. Gah! Why did I punch him?!’ He rolled over once again, burying his head in his pillows. He mentally cursed his own stupidity as he turned out the lights even though he doubted he was going to be getting any sleep that night. ‘We’ll just have to wait and see what happens tomorrow…’
