“Because, Junhyung-shii, Hyunseung-shii has the best grades in the class and you have the worst. Also, if you don’t do well on this assignment, you will fail this class and not graduate.” Several students giggled a little bit but quickly quieted when they received a glare from Junhyung. The boy angrily sat down and pouted the rest of the class period.

Hyunseung hung his head and cursed whoever was looking down and making his life a living hell. He would have been happy doing all of the assignment and staying as far away from Junhyung as he could but life wasn’t that fair. The teacher must have figured that Junhyung wouldn’t do any of the work so the two of them were instructed to stay after school that day and start working on the outline. They were ordered to do this until the project was done and every day they would have to turn in a summary of what they had done that day together. There was no getting out of it.

Hyunseung knew he had to work hard because of the scholarship and Junhyung needed to do good so he could graduate. They were both stuck in hell and there was no way out of it.

“Alright, , let’s just get this over with. Just being around you makes me want to vomit.” Junhyung made gagging noises to further enunciate his point. Hyunseung remained silent in fear of angering the younger boy but nodded his head. They were sitting in the computer lab getting ready to look up the song that they were to do their project on. ‘Runaway train by Soul Asylum …I’ve never heard of it.’ Junhyung typed it into a YouTube page and was about to start the video before Hyunseung spoke up timidly.

“Do…do you ha…have any head…phones?” He kept his head down as he asked the question. The younger boy glanced over with slanted eyes before reaching in his backpack. He dug around for a few minutes before sighing.

“He…here…” Junhyung looked up to see an ear bud being held out to him. He stared at it before he scoffed, reaching out and slapping his hand away.

“No way in hell am I sharing the same headphones with a queer like you. You just listen to it and start working on the project. The sooner we get this done, the sooner I can get the hell away from you.” With that he leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes deciding to take a nap while Hyunseung did the work.

Hyunseung stared at his lap for a few minutes before he put the other ear bud in and started the song. ‘It doesn’t sound that bad. The melody is decent and the voice is pretty good. It sounds kinda sad…’ He lost himself in the song. Slowly he relaxed and closed his eyes. It seemed as if the music was describing him even though he had no clue what they were singing about.

Junhyung opened his eyes for a peak after several minutes of silence. He was not expecting the sight that greeted him. Hyunseung sat leaning back in his seat, much like he himself was. His eyes were closed and his lips were turned up just the slightest. It was the first time that he had seen him with and expression even close to a smile in months.

Junhyung found himself staring at Hyunseung for the rest of the song. He tried to look away but as the song went on the older boy relaxed more and more. Junhyung couldn’t remember the last time that he seen the other boy so calm, if he ever had.

Hyunseung found himself sitting with his eyes closed even several minutes after the song was done. It had been a long time since he had felt this relaxed. His surroundings had completely disappeared to him and he was in his own world. One filled with the old times where he had dance and he had friends. One where he was happy.

That world didn’t last long though. Soon he was reminded of where he was and the world that he lived in today. The one where everyone hated him and he had nothing. With that he opened his eyes and shook his head slightly. He turned to the boy beside him that still had his eyes closed, though his face was slightly pink. ‘I wonder if he is sick…’ the thought crossed his mind before he could help it. He shook his head once more before taking out the English to Korean dictionary and began translating the song.
