Chapter 4
The Artistic Punk
Donghae slumped against the brick wall once Minho finally left him. It took two hours to convince the kid he wasn’t going to die in the middle of the night, and another fifteen minutes to convince him he was going to go straight home. The last part may have been a half lie. He was going to go straight home, after he completed his new masterpiece on the Wiend Tunnel.
Donghae picked up the basket of paints from around the corner and started walking back to the tunnel. He sat himself cross-legged in front of the grey wall. His hands the paint brush, as he stared at the spray paint to his left. He spray painted a lot back home. It didn’t help his situation, but it was a lot of fun for him. The adrenaline was much higher when the spray bottle was in his hands, compared to when he held the paint brush. He always felt his anger vanish when ever he painted, in any shape or form. He just felt his voice was heard better through spray paint and graffiti. People looked at the wall more than they do in the hallways of a gallery or school. People gaze at graffiti more, and they comment on it much more openly.
The boy dropped his paint brush and picked up the spray-can, shaking it a bit. He quickly moved his hand around, going over a line a couple of times. He rapidly switched from one color to another, as the last street lights decided to flicker on. When he was done, he could see his given name in the graffiti world: Pishy. It was a mixture of Punk, and Fishy. It was a joke, but Donghae loved it. Normal people, usually can’t read graffiti so, Donghae on purpose made it look like Punk or Fishy to a normal eye. He’s proud to let his name be a secret.
Suddenly sirens were ringing and Donghae picked up his belongings dashing out of the tunnel. The flashing lights were coming closer, and Donghae climbed up the closest tree, hanging the basket of paints off the highest, strongest, branch he could find. He pulled the hood on his hoodie, over his head, covering his eyes. The sweatshirt belonged to Siwon, so it was a little large on him, it did it’s job though.
The sirens stopped, when there was a screeching stop in front of the tunnel. Donghae’s heart froze, as did his breathing. A couple of angry voices were heard from below. Donghae bit his lip, staring between the opening of the leaves. He saw lights from flashlights flinging from side to side, in an urgency to catch probably him. He heard a few distressed voices from the officers, and a few comment on the art on the walls:
“ We can never catch him.” One had said.
“ At least his work isn’t that bad.”
Donghae grinned and perked his head up trying to hear better.
“ He’s still destroying public property. What the is a tea cup suppose to be? Is this a kid painting?”
Unconsciously, Donghae stuck his tongue out, but quickly stopped when his hand started slipping. He heard the officers walking back to their car, when his fingers slipped off the branch. He fell face forward into the branch . The leaves rustled, as he tried to regain his balance and hook his body around the branch. The officers froze and looked back, quickly scanning over the terrain. Donghae hung onto the branch for dear life, biting the inside of his mouth to keep from screaming. It took a few minutes, but the officers gave up and drove off in their vehicle. When he couldn’t see the flashing lights, or hear the car, Donghae let his arms fall free, causing him to hang upside down.
“ Damn.” Donghae giggled, feeling the adrenaline.
Donghae slowly climbed back down the tree and made his way to his apartment. It wasn’t that far from the bakery, thankfully. Once he was inside, Donghae flicked the light on. His apartment was one roomed, with a bathroom of course. He was paying on a students salary, what do you expect. He had his ‘bedroom’ in one corner of the room, while the kitchen on the other side. His art supplies was everywhere and anywhere. The last few days, when ever he walked in, he couldn’t help but laugh at the image of Eunhyuk walking in and what his reaction would be like.
These thoughts Occasionally caused him to want to clean the room, not enough to do it though.
Donghae went over to his art easel and took a brand new, blank canvas from behind it. He gently placed it on the ledge and took out a pencil. He had to get started on the final project now, if he wanted something to hand in.
Donghae sighed and looked back at the ruined painting in the corner. He could paint over the smudges and everything, but he couldn’t, for two reasons.
He believes the painting has to be one thorough painting, and if it got messed up that badly, it should be left as it is.
And well, he just couldn’t get rid of it. He didn’t know why else, but there was a reason.
Suddenly Donghae’s phone started vibrating madly in his jean pocket. Donghae clicked accept, before even reading who it was from.
“ Hello, Donghae speaking.”
“ Hey. It’s Minho.”
“ I’m home, don’t worry.”
“ What took you so long?”
“ What do you mean?” Donghae replied reaching around, trying to grab a paint brush.
“ I called you ten minutes ago.”
“ Oh I was painting.”
That wasn’t a lie.
“ Yeah, at home?”
“ At a home.”
“ A tunnel is not a home Donghae.”
“ If I sleep there, and eat there then can I call it home?”
“ What? No.”
“ You’re annoying put Siwon on the- never mind, keep talking.”
“ What happened between you and Siwon any how?”
Donghae groaned and squirted some paint into one of the old egg-containers ( they were cheap, and fun to use). “ Nothing happened.”
“ That is a total lie, and you know it.”
“ I have no idea what you’re talking about, Minho.”
“ You seemed really angry at him when you left.”
“ Oh did I? Must have been your imagination.”
“ Donghae. Tell me-”
“ Woops, sorry my favorite show is on goodbye.”
“ You don’t have a Telev-”
Click.
Donghae sighed, and tossed his phone onto the bed in the corner.
“ He is totally going to kill me.” Donghae muttered as he dipped his paint brush into the black paint and brought it towards the soon to be, amazing, one-of-a-kind painting.
The next day, Donghae found himself flat against his heated floor, paint smeared everywhere. His painting was once again covered with blue paint. This though, wasn’t a completed painting so he could just work off it, change his idea or what ever is needed. Still, there is paint now dumped all around the floor of his apartment.
“ Aaw Fishes.” Donghae groaned letting his head fall back into the paint.
Meanwhile, Eunhyuk was already at school. He was dressed in a nice blue-dressy shirt and some black jeans. He awoke in a pretty happy mood, and felt the need to dress-up a little more than usual. Even his bag was perfectly clean, and no matter how clean-freak he was, he didn’t usually care for his bag.
He came into his first lecture fully prepared, and sat himself in the back of the class. The teacher eyed him suspiciously, before asking:
“ Impressing anyone?”
“ No.”
The teacher didn’t try to push it, even though he knew it was a lie. Eunhyuk usually did dress nice, but he looked extra-clean and a lot more polished than normal.
Eunhyuk sighed and leaned back in his chair. Thinking back to the night before. ‘ Why didn’t he ask for a day off? Damn.’ Eunhyuk thought. ‘ I should meet up with him and ask him.’
Eunhyuk glanced down at his pristine watch, seeing he still had fifteen minutes until the lecture started, he left. He walked towards the hallway, he met Donghae at the day before. He was expecting it to be all nice and clean, but it was still a blue mess. Eunhyuk groaned and stomped towards the janitors office, on the first floor because the Janitors never use the room upstairs.
That may be because of the rumors it’s haunted. Just maybe.
As Eunhyuk trudged his way through the hallway, he passed the art classrooms. The rooms were always filled with colors: The teachers were given permission to paint it to their liking, which Eunhyuk thought was actually pretty cool. Eunhyuk slowed down a bit, to admire the student’s art work. There were billions of pictures posted around, but none of them matched up to Donghae’s master-pieces. That’s at least what Eunhyuk believed.
“ Can I please have an extension?” Eunhyuk heard someone ask. Eunhyuk turned to look at who was talking and spotted Donghae with his fingers clasped together.
“ What? On the final?” The professor asked.
“ Yeah, I know it’s really stupid, but I had this painting, the one you wanted. I was going to use it as the final project, but there was an accident and I was hoping-”
“ I’m sorry Donghae, but it’s the final for the marking period, I can’t give you an extension.”
“ But Mister-”
“ I’m sorry Donghae. You have to hand in something else, and remember it can’t be something you’ve already handed in.”
“ Sir-”
“ I can’t pull any strings this time, you still have two weeks, try to come up with something.”
Donghae’s head fell in defeat. The professor gently patted the student’s shoulder as he moved his way to the back of the classroom. Donghae grumbled and ruffled his own hair before standing up. He breathed in deeply, and dragged his feet out of the classroom.
“ You okay Donghae?” Eunhyuk asked.
Donghae lifted his head, and felt his face heat up a bit. “ Did you see that?”
“ Will you kill me if I say yes?”
“ Killing would mean effort, so no.”
Eunhyuk grinned a bit and nodded. “ I saw it. What happened to your picture.”
“ N-nothing. Just a small mistake.”
“ Small mistakes can be fixed.”
“ Y-yeah, but it isn’t that small of a mistake.”
“ What happened?”
“ It’s the picture from yesterday.” Donghae whispered, hoping he didn’t hear him.
“ SERIOUSLY!” Eunhyuk asked. Donghae nodded. “ I’m so sorry. Can I help you fix it?”
Donghae smiled softly. “ N-no I’m fine. It’ll be fine.”
“ Are you sure? How long did it take you to paint that?”
“ Two months maybe? I mean, I had a lot of other work to do, and had to choose what I was painting, so two to three months. “
“ Oh god. Donghae I’m so sorry.”
“ It’s fine.” Donghae smiled. “ It was an accident.”
Eunhyuk nodded absent-mindedly. ‘ No wonder he didn’t want to meet up with me.’ Eunhyuk muttered.
“ Eu-Eunhyuk?”
“ Yeah?”
“ I want to make up for yesterday. Do- do you want to meet up at the bakery this afternoon?”
Eunhyuk grinned widely. “ Of course.”
Suddenly Eunhyuk’s thoughts came rushing back to him, confusing him more than he already was. Why was he so excited to be with Donghae?
“ Okay, well um… I got to go.”
“ Of course. Go ahead.”
“ You’re going to be late Eunhyuk.”
“ I’m never late.”
And with that the bell rang. Eunhyuk’s face flushed a bit as Donghae giggled.
“ Everyone messes up a bit in their lives Eunhyuk. Get used to it.”
Eunhyuk could hardly process those words as he sprinted to his classroom, shocking the whole class as he slammed the door open. His professor only held a knowing-smirk on his face as he pointed for him to go to his seat.

I wanted to give you all another awesome update, before I went on and got into the full story at full throttle. No seriously, the story starts to actually go somewhere from now on! You guys got to see Donghae's house too, and some insight of why he paints.
What do you guys think about this chapter? Pretty boring right?
The rest of the chapters are going to get so much more interesting.
DO you like the story following Eunhyuk more, or Donghae? I couldn't choose for this chapter so I sort of switched xD That's really difficult to do.... how can writers be happy doing that?! xD
