Chapter three
The Artistic Punk
“ Where the is he?” Eunhyuk cursed softly, checking his watch once more.
It was about two hours after his normal time coming, and Donghae still has yet to appear in the Bakery. He hadn’t brought a book, or any assignments he could be working on: He was expecting to be greeted by Donghae’s normal smile, and pulled into an interesting conversation. He was expecting no time lapse between his entrance and the time Donghae would issue his arrival. If anything, he’d hope he’d have an impatient Donghae at the entrance. Sadly, none of this was the case.
“ Excuse me, is there anything else you’d like to order?” Leeteuk asked, holding his notepad to his chest lightly.
Leeteuk had been watching the boy for the past two hours. He was always aware of Eunhyuk’s appearance in the store, and had gain a small interest in him. It wasn’t enough interest for Leeteuk to actually care why he was there, but enough to be slightly troubled by it.
“ A Blue berry muffin.” Eunhyuk grumbled. Leeteuk nodded and headed off to the back of the bakery. It wasn’t strange for customers to stay in the building for long periods of times, but that usually happens when there are more than one of them. When there is someone to talk too, or when there is something else to do during the time. Neither of those were there, and that may have not helped his paranoia.
Once Leeteuk came back for the muffin, Eunhyuk sat up straight and looked the waiter in the eye.
“ Is there something else you need?” Leeteuk asked, after eyeing the customer.
“ The other worker, Donghae-”
“ He asked to take the day off, he said he had another job to do.” Leeteuk quickly replied. Eunhyuk nodded and placed a random amount of bills, that obviously paid for his stay and then some.
“ Wait, your change.” Leeteuk mumbled, but Eunhyuk had already gotten up and left the bakery, the blue-berry muffin in hand.
Eunhyuk grumbled incoherent words as he slipped on his black, jacket. It didn’t help that much with the chilly air, but it was something, and something was better than nothing. Eunhyuk cupped his hands around the muffin for warmth as he walked. It had gotten pretty dark, but only a few street lamps were lit, and only a few cars were passing by. Eunhyuk sighed and jogged across the street before turning towards his beloved tunnel. As he stepped foot into the tunnel, was again his phone rang.
“ Hello?” Eunhyuk asked.
“ Hey, It’s Kyu. What’s up?”
“ Nothing much, heading home.”
“ Perfect. Can you stop at the game store and get me a new game.”
“ And why can’t you do this?”
“ Because I can’t find the key to your house, and I don’t want to leave it un-attended?”
“ What ever, what game.”
“ Any. Just something I haven’t played before.”
“ Of course. ‘Cause I know which one that is obviously.”
“ What? Are you saying you don’t memorize the games I win and put them on a website for the world to see?”
“ Where do you come up with this stuff?”
“ In your room, during the loading screen of my games, when I’m alone.”
“ Of course.”
Eunhyuk scrunched his face together when there was a loud bang, and Kyuhyun’s words became muffled.
“ Hyung, you okay?”
“ Yeah, I’ll call you back.”
“ Is there a creeper?”
“ I don’t know, I’ll call you back.”
“ Don’t forget the game.”
Eunhyuk silently chuckled and hung up, sliding the phone in his side pocket. As he slid his feet, he unconsciously crouched. One hand was in front, ready to attack, when one arm lagged behind for protection. It was a common stance for any body preparing to meet up with the perhaps gangster dude, he’s been longing to punch in the face for so long.
“ Sorry, I’m going home tonight.” Eunhyuk heard someone say. The voice was familiar to Eunhyuk.
“ Please. We’d feel a lot better if-”
“ I’ll be fine. Nothing bad is going to happen god.”
That’s when the voice clicked. Eunhyuk sprinted forward to spot Donghae leaning against a building, with a much taller guy towering over him. The taller man grabbed Donghae by the shoulders and pulled him close to his face. Eunhyuk’s eyes widened.
“ Siwon will kill me if I don’t bring you back.”
“ Well Siwon can deal with it.” Donghae grumbled, pushing away a bit. “ What’s the point of moving away, and living alone. If I don’t actually get to live alone. And for Pete’s-sake, if I keep lounging around at your place, what am I going to do with my apartment. I have been paying for it you know.”
“Stop paying for it and move in with us.”
“ No.” Donghae groaned. The taller guy grabbed Donghae’s arm and pulled him a bit, causing the smaller to stumble. Eunhyuk’s lips thinned as the taller opened his mouth to continue the debate.
“ Donghae?” Eunhyuk asked, his face turning emotionless.
“ E-Eunhyuk. Hi. You know about the bakery thing, I was going to go but I got side-tracked. And well, you know, I had wanted to clean up and-”
“ Leeteuk told me you had asked to take the day-off don’t try to lie. But what’s going on here?”
“ Eh-heh. Well, um, Eunhyuk. This is Minho. Minho, this is Eunhyuk.”
Donghae awkwardly gestured to the one stated, as he was pulled into a back hug from Minho. “ Minho, is um, my friend’s younger brother. The president of the Soccer club, Siwon, ever heard of him?”
Eunhyuk nodded, and resisted the urge to roll his eyes. Why the urge was there was confusing him. “ Yeah and?”
“ Well, I occasionally stay at their place, but it felt a little to crowded, and I had my own place, so I was like I’m a go back home. But Siwon he has a cr- a problem with me leaving, and Minho here is trying to get me to go back. But I can’t because Siwon and my home and confusing stuff. I’ll see you at school tomorrow.” Donghae sputtered out, giggling out of awkwardness here and there. Eunhyuk nodded.
“ Let Donghae go to his house, he’ll visit you. Don’t be immature.”
“ Immature?” Minho asked, narrowing his eyes.
“ Yes Immature. Anyway, Donghae, I’ll return the jeans to you tomorrow, their at the cleaners, and about the painting.”
“ Jeans, painting?-” Minho started.
“ Oh yeah. Thanks. And don’t worry about the painting. It’s alright.”
“ You sure?” Eunhyuk asked.
“ Yeah, of course. The painting wasn’t a big deal. Just a present for the teacher.”
“ Oh okay, cool, still sorry about that. “ Eunhyuk tapped Donghae’s shoulder, trying to be as friendly as possible, but once he was passed the two, he quickly wiped his hands roughly against his jeans. The purpose of him stepping into the debate was completely pointless, why he wasn’t angry Donghae hadn’t kept to coming to the bakery, was frustrating him and why Minho was getting on his nerve was completely idiotic. Eunhyuk had no clue what was going on with him.
“ Wait, Donghae. That painting, was it the one-”
“ Yeah, I’ll just ask for an extension.”
“ But it’s a final, you can’t do that.”
“ I’ll take care of it don’t worry.”
“ Now what about those jeans.”
“ You. Can’t. Tell. Siwon. Anything. Got. It. Froggy?”
“ If you tell me what happened, fishy.”
Eunhyuk’s ears perked up as he strained to hear the small conversation between Minho and Donghae. Yeah, he walked away, but he still wanted to know what’s going on. He didn’t understand if the painting was a bigger issue than he thought or what. Once they were out of hearing, Eunhyuk sighed and stuffed his hands in his pockets.
Eunhyuk walked slowly to his house, skipping around the occasional puddle, and spider web that honestly freaked Eunhyuk out to no end. Eunhyuk would be walking about a mile away from the last spider web, and still be eerie about it. Visions of a spider jumping onto his back kept popping up, but Eunhyuk was Eunhyuk so he acted as if nothing was bothering him.
“ Damn spiders.” Eunhyuk muttered to himself once he was in the safety of his home.
Eunhyuk’s house is definitely a Eunhyuk house. The walls are pristine-white, and the couches were a black, and the carpet was a silver color. Everything was perfectly placed, pictures, vases, books. He was positive if he became blind, he wouldn’t have any problem with finding his way around the house. Now, the building did have color. The color was usually the flowers, books, and paintings on the wall. Mostly the paintings though.
Eunhyuk kicked off his shoes and gently placed them in the shoe rack beside the door. After, he made his way to his bedroom, which was just a little more colorful then the rest of the house, seeing how the walls were a nice dark blue. Eunhyuk opened the door, hung his bag on the clothes rack, and stepped in. He spotted Kyuhyun’s face perk up from the paused screen.
“ HYUNG! Where’s my game?”
“ Forgot it.” Eunhyuk replied.
“ How the hell did you forget it! It’s not like you go places at night to forget! It was a one way track!” Kyuhyun whined, falling, and flailing on the ground dramatically.
“ Why do you only act like this around me? You could have so many friends at school if you were this dramatic.”
“Because everyone else is an idiot.” Kyuhyun mumbled. “ They don’t get stuff, so they don’t deserve seeing me like this.”
“ What ever.” Eunhyuk groaned. Kyuhyun lifted his head and rolled onto his back.
“ So what did keep you. You were about ten minutes longer than normal.”
“ I met up with a friend.”
Kyuhyun grinned. “ A friiieeend?”
“ Yeah, he was suppose to meet me at Blue Bakery, but he didn’t. Then I met him on the way with some other person.”
“ to be you.”
“ Shut it Geek.”
“ I don’t want to shut it monkey.”
“ I can kick you out at any moment you know.”
Kyuhyun crawled up in front of Eunhyuk and hugged his legs. “ But you wouldn’t do that because you love me so freaking much!”
Eunhyuk gently kicked Kyuhyun off of him before patting down his pants.
“ Those aren’t your pants.” Kyuhyun noted.
“ How do you know?”
“ You don’t buy these kind of jeans, I’ve seen your wardrobe. I have a good memory.”
“ They’re that ‘friends’ clothes. I got paint all over my jeans because of him.”
“ Is he smaller than you.”
“ Not by much, why?”
“ Is he skinnier?”
“ I guess, and again I ask why?”
“ Their a little too tight on you, I can just start to make out your-”
Eunhyuk threw a pillow at Kyuhyun before he could even finish that sentence.
“ How the am I friends with you.”
Kyuhyun just shrugged and rolled back wards until he was in his ‘gaming-chair’ and un-paused the video game. Eunhyuk sighed and took his bag back from the rack and unpacked the objects, neatly placing them on his beautifully carved, oak, desk in the corner of his room. Once he finished Eunhyuk fell backwards onto his bed, trying to organize his thoughts.
Much To Eunhyuk’s detest, that night, no thoughts got organized.
