Chapter Three
Static
“You’re irritating.”
The words split through the long silence and Kibum hummed in agreement, slinging his arm across Tiffany’s waist as they lay in bed cuddled together. He knew that Tiffany was angry with him, but he didn’t care. Momentarily his mind was in a happy place because she’d decided to stay the night with him. He felt safe and warm, and that’s all he felt too, because she had obliged his request to go get ice but also brought back some pain relievers that worked wonders; he could barely feel any pain on his side anymore. Without a doubt, Tiffany was the best girlfriend he’d ever had.
“But you love me,” He reminded her, smiling into the back of her neck and kissing it softly. He loved the way she smelled, like a vanilla and strawberry scent that reminded him of a beautiful spring day. Of course, she’d assured him at least a dozen times that it was because she used strawberries and cream shampoo.
“And sometimes I wonder why I do, Kibum. You’re obnoxious, you know that? And a terrible boyfriend since you never tell me anything anymore,” Tiffany replied, scowling at the air. Even with her harsh words of reality, Kibum couldn’t help but grin.
“Only because I love you,” He said, justifying himself. He gently ran his hand up and down her side, pausing to tickle her softly, enjoying the fact that she was trying to stay angry with him.
“Boy, if you don’t stop breathing down my neck,” She threatened, giggling as Kibum got her ultimate tickle spot. Quickly flipping around, she mock glared at her boyfriend until he pressed his lips against hers for a surprise kiss.
“I do love you, Fany,” He said earnestly as they pulled away, staring into her eyes deeply. Tiffany smile and nodded as he hovered over her.
“You’re still a terrible boyfriend,” She told him, wrapping her arm around his neck and bringing him down.
“And you’re a crappy girlfriend. We’re a match made in heaven,” Kibum murmured against her lips. Tiffany laughed and gently pushed him off of her, careful not to touch where he was hurt.
The excitement died down and they quietly lay together, enjoying the rare moment of peace between them while Kibum was in a good mood. Laying her head on Kibum’s chest, Tiffany mentally thanked herself for staying over. It’d been too long since they’d been like this, acted like a real couple. She didn’t mind, but she missed the intimacy. Sighing contently, she closed her eyes and relaxing into Kibum’s touch as he ran his fingers through her long black hair. Lying together like this felt like old times before the accident and the only thing that was different was that Dayeun was peeking through the door crack spying on them; and the thought of that made Tiffany chuckle softly.
“What?” Kibum asked curiously.
“Nothing, just thinking about something. Let’s go to sleep, I have school in the morning. God, I hate going to a year-round school. Why can’t we be like any other school and get a summer vacation?” Tiffany complained with a pout, adjusting against Kibum to make them both comfortable.
He didn’t answer her rhetorical question, but tightened his hold of her so they were pressed closely together. Staying in that stance for awhile he could soon hear her breathing get lighter and knew that she’d fallen asleep in his arms. He sighed softly and gently her cheek with his fingers, wanting this moment to last forever. Not only because he loved being with her, but because he was actually feel
