Chapter 10

집 - Home

~

Silence and darkness surrounded the house; everyone was asleep. A shadow quickly and quietly crossed the front yard, ran to the front door and slided it without making a noise, closing it right after he got in. He looked around, to make sure no one heard him, but all he saw was black. He let a heavy sigh out and closed his eyes—he tried to calm down his panting and smiled.

"Why are you only arriving now?"

The light in the living room suddenly flickered until it turned completely on. The shadow froze. He slowly opened his eyes to see a half Jack right in front of him, their noses touching. He stepped back and bumped into the door. Jack looked straight into his eyes.

    "Not going to answer?"

Just as he blinked, he felt a cold tip pushing against his abdomen. Jack pressed more strength into it. Beads of sweat started to form on his forehead; his whole body was trembling in fear.

Jack's lips brushed against Joe's right ear. With a stern voice that would even make Mike Tyson squeal and step back in fear like a kid, he whispered, "Where have you been?"
Joe bit his lip, "I-I—went to take a walk."
Jack scoffed, "Don't kid with me."
"Calm down!" Johnny ran into the scene, to separate both men—though one of them was pratically a boy.

With swift movements, Jack put his knife back in its own pocket on his belt and took a few steps back. A stain of blood was starting to grow on Joe's white shirt; his hand flew and froze right on top of it, his face slowly twitching in pain.

"It's not even deep, why are you overreacting like a little girl?" Jack fell on the sofa, his gaze full of mockery towards Joe who was now on his knees, breathing with a lot of difficulty. "You see, that's what you get when you play for both sides. Well... part of it." He added as he smirked. But his face turned dead serious on the very next second. "Just go. Prepare yourself to Soojung to school in a few hours."

Joe lifted his huge—and probably heavy—body and stumbled across the living room to get to his bedroom, his hand never leaving the hurt area on his abdomen. Johnny inserted his hands in his pockets and stared at Jack.

"What." Jack moved around the couch and took his knife from the belt.
"Why didn't you... you know, finish him?"
"Dunno," Jack shrugged as he played with his butterfly between his fingers. "He might be useful one day..."

Johnny stood in front of Jack for a while before excusing himself and leaving the room, seeing how Jack was so entertained with his knife.
As he left, Jack frowned. He caught his knife with his grip as his breath turned heavy.
Hot blood started to drip from his hand, tainting his legs, spreading a strange feeling within his whole body. He sighed and closed his eyes, leaning the back of his head on the couch.

"Have a good day, Krystal." They both said in unison.
"We will be here waiting outside as soon as school ends." Johnny quietly closed the door right after Krystal left the car.
    "'Kay."
"See...you?" Johnny waved, but Krystal was already walking towards the school's gate.

Nothing had changed for the past few days (weeks, actually), and more than sad, Krystal was disappointed. She would be feeling ignored everyday, it started to tire her. She couldn't help but feel a bit uncomfortable with it, but she was also uncomfortable with the fact that she was, you know, lesbian. As if that was some kind of... infection. She just wasn't used to it. Amber should be comprehensive towards Krystal as well. It wasn't entirely her fault; not even part of it, actually!—Krystal nodded.—Amber was the one who started to freak out all of a sudden, after Krystal's innocent remarks. And besides, Amber was acting like a kid. Come on, she wasn't six anymore! For God's sake, she was sixteen! No one that age should be throwing a... a... tantrum? Yes, a tantrum over such... basic thing.
But even with these kind of thoughts, Krystal managed to think over this scene the way around. It wasn't natural, but it was still... love, right? Something that hasn't yet reached her (but that one day eventually will) so she couldn't comprehend it very well, but... Well, she made her research these past few days. She tried to see—she asked herself, actually—why did she find being lesbian some disgusting thing. It was normal, though at the same time it wasn't. I mean... two girls kissing... and... doing other things...
Krystal's face twisted in disgust. Immersed in her thoughts, with her head down, she made her way to her classroom. She stopped right in front of the room's door and sighed, holding out her hand to grab the door handle.

"Hold your horses," Amber, out of nowhere, grabbed her hand.
"Couldn't you have said something uglier?" Krystal was surprised, but she managed not to show it... on the first seconds, of course.

Amber pulled her from the door to a deserted hallway. Krystal, perplexed, had no other solution besides following her.

"Why are you avoiding me?" Amber inquired her, with her hands on her hips and her strong gaze locked over the smaller one.
Krystal grabbed her backpack straps and tried to look at her in the eyes without stuttering."I'm not."
Amber chuckled, Krystal bit her lip. "Listen—"
"What?" Krystal said it a bit too quickly. Flustered, she looked away, feeling her cheeks getting hotter and hotter.
"Why are you—" Amber let a breathe out. "Really, why are you like this?" Amber took a step closer to Krystal.
"What do you mean?" Krystal retreated. "You're the one who overreacted, not me."
    "Wh-Overrea—" Amber frowned.
"Yeah. And don't tell me you didn't, because you did."
Amber was dumbfounded, looked away and then chuckled, turning back at Krystal with a small smile on. "Can't...Can't we be friends? Again?" Amber held out her hand.
Krystal eyed her. "Why do we seem like little kids?" Nonetheless, she still shook the others' hand. "Friends." She nodded as she let out a small chuckle. "I see no problem in that."
"Is there a problem in being more than that?" Amber raised her eyebrow, but seeing how Krystal looked so speechless at that, she laughed. "Just friends. Why not?"

The girls were still holding their hands and smiling at each other when the morning bell was heard. Amber put her hands in the pocket and Krystal's hands were back holding her backpack straps. They looked at each other.

"Aish, why are we being so awkward, seriously." Amber ruffled her hair; a habit of her, Krystal observed. "Come on, I'll be following you right behind."

Krystal shrugged and started walking towards the clasroom. Amber stayed in the very same place, eyes locked on Krystal's back(pack). She bit her lip to prevent a wide smile from forming. She couldn't help but feel happy now that she had (finally!) got her friend back. She ran to her and jumped, her hands on Krystal's shoulders, making her stumble. Their laugh filled the lonely hallway.
Happiness was overflowing between both girls, even though both tried to stop it from showing. Neither knew why, they just probably felt like they needed to spend more time with each other. To things run peacefully. To one get used to the other and vice-versa.
Because no one knew what could happen in the future.
That is, if there was a future for both.

Chapter 23: Since you left a message in my profile, telling me that you wanted to know my reaction about this story. Here it goes, it's well-written (grammatically great). The story is very different to the Kryber fanfics I have read. This is one is too deep, maybe because it's a suspense-romantic story. lol Anyways, good one author-nim!!! Hope you would write a fluffy Kryber fanfic. :) But don't make it too sweet or we readers would get diabetes...lmao
