I looked up at the light blue sky and sighed, as my back leaned towards the bench. I closed my eyes painfully. My heart longed for her. Memories kept replaying in my head, I felt my tears welling up, even with my eyes closed.

“How did we get to be this way?”

-flashback-

“As you all know, there are going to be some exchange students from Korea coming here for two weeks!” The teacher exclaimed. I leaned my head against my right hand, not paying a lot of attention. I could hear light footsteps come in, as I heard some boys whispering to each other. I looked at what they were whispering about and saw the exchange student.

I had to admit. She was amazingly beautiful. It doesn't seem like she had a flaw, although it looked like she was forcing a small smile. She introduced herself.

“Hello everyone,” She said in a moderate voice. “My name is Oh Sohun, nice to meet you all!” She bowed and everyone clapped. Her chinese was amazingly well spoken, almost as if she was from China. I could see the satisfied and interested faces of everyone in the classroom.

As everyone was excitedly murmuring to each other, I saw her looking towards me. Our eyes met and I immediately looked away. Hm, how awkward. I thought.

“Thank you very much Sohun,” The teacher thanked her. “Let's see.. it seems like you'll have to sit next to Yixing.” The teacher stated. I tried to act as if I didn't care, but inside, I could hear my heart beating, as if I was expecting something. She nodded and sat herself down next to me. She smiled.

“Hello! As you know, I am Oh Sohun nice to meet you!” She said, not forcing a smile anymore. I slightly smiled back, and was a bit surprised at how pretty she was up close.

“I'm Zhang Yixing, but people call me Lay.” I said, keeping my poker face. She nodded and asked if she could borrow my books for now. I nodded and slid the book more on her side, so she could see.

Class continued as usual. She was amazing at making conversations, so we had our laughs and even got scolded by our teacher. Before we knew it, the period ended, and we were as close as ever. We made our way to our next class, which we had together. She giggled as she took a glance at me.

“You know,” She smiled. “You dimple looks really cute.” She complimented, blushing a little. I scratched the back of my neck, smiling nervously and couldn't help but feel giddy at her comment.

“Thanks,” I said. “Your smile is really pretty.” I complimented her back. She chuckled and thanked me. I could feel my face getting a little bit warmer as we kept shooting compliments back at each other. In the end, we ended up laughing and was blushing like crazy.

“After dating, separation always comes”

A week and a half passed, and something grew at the bottom of my heart. The fact that I had always tried to hide; She had to go back to Korea soon. I couldn't help but not forget the fact. It was haunting me. I knew it was true, but I didn't want to face it. I tried to get on with school as usual but it was always with me.

“What's wrong?” She asked me, with a bit of a worried face. It was the night before she had to go and we were spending some time next to the river. I forced a little smile but I knew she hated me lying to her so I said it out.

“Just thinking about you leaving.” I stated, making my heart sink down even more. She fell silent and looked down. I knew I had to say something.

“I'll miss you.” I said in a quiet voice. She slight smiled and nodded.

“Mmm, me too.” She said. We smiled at each other with sorrowful eyes, as if we were communicating through our eyes. We spent the whole night just talking like usual, but trying to let us stay together even longer, but time wasn't on our side. We had chatted till 9pm, and we knew we had to head back. I looked at her as she turned her back on me. I grabbed her hand, making her look at me. I could see the pain in her eyes.

“There’s no use in forcedly trying to turn things around”

“I.. love you.” I said. She smiled at me, but her eyes were still sad. She tightened her hand around mine and nodded, as if saying me too. She let go and we parted ways. My heart felt like it was suffocating. Instantly, I had felt a rush of regret. Why did we not spend more time together? I stood there for a while and then made my way back, thinking about everything. I felt so much pain, knowing I couldn't do anything about it. Tears were threatening to come out. I bit my lip as I walked up to my room, face down on my pillow, wishing it was all a dream.

“Like such a fool, I want you back”

The next day, she was gone.

-flashback end-

I bit my lip hard and tightened my hands into a fist, trying to fight my tears. It had been so long but still, I missed her like crazy. As if she had only left yesterday. I could feel a wet moisture under my eyelids. I felt a tear roll down my cheek. I knew I couldn't stop it. Tears started to roll down one after another. I cried and my pain still stayed in my heart. It was so unbearable. What do I do, Sohun..

“Say goodbye

Even if you forget me and meet another guy and fall in love.”

“I promise you, I’ll give up to you my girl”

 “Love is leaving us like this”
