Chapter 2:

Hana was welcomed by the staff of sweet cafe, she smiled at them and scans the place to look for Mrs. Kim, at the far corner she saw her feeling lost, she played with the coffee in front of her, the fact that she didn’t notice that she is now standing in front of her,

“Hello Mrs. Kim sorry for being late,” she apologize sweetly, she pulled a chair in front of her, she place  her bag beside her, the madam tried her very best to smile in front of her, at her presence,

“Shall we order? My treat,,” hana invite

“No, it’s on me, just order what you want,,” she answered,

Hana prevent her to,

“I got an extra salary today, and I was the one who invited you in the first place,”
“that’s so nice of you, I bet your parents are really proud of you,” she complimented, hana smile

“Anio, it’s my way of thanking you all these years that I come to know you,,” she answered, the madam grew puzzled , she didn’t remember anything or any favor that she gave to her,

“What do you mean?”

“The truth is, I don’t really wanted to tell you this but, every time I am talking to you, I can feel like I have a mother, I never felt this carefree and comfortable with someone, maybe because I am an orphan that’s why I learned how to appreciate anything or anyone that share a conversation with me, living in the orphanage was like fighting with the attention of the sisters that’s in charge, I knew it was bad but when I was young I wanted them to notice me more, I wanted their attention, I desired to be adopted every time there are prospect parents who’s looking for a possible adoptee, but as I grew older the possibility of getting adopted became smaller, then I realize, I should not depend on those possibility, I wanted to do the things on my own ways, no matter how hard it will be, thus so with the help of some friends, I came here to Seoul, I study, and I work after, my life revolves like that , but I have no regret, because I chose it, but at the end of the day, I can’t still help to think that what if my parents didn’t abandon me? What might happened if  they let me stayed in their life, no matter how hard that will be,,” she continued, hearing her confession, the madam felt sorry towards her.

“It’s okay,” she assured; she pressed her palm, for assurance, giving her comfort.

“Thanks madam, now you know mine, would you mind sharing me what’s bothering you?” hoping that she will open up to her

“I have three sons,” she started

“they are the most valuable , my everything for me,, but, they don’t love me the way I do,,” she felt sad again upon remembering the argument she had with her three sons, she told everything to Hana, who feel sorry for her and annoyance towards her sons,

“that’s not so very nice,” now it’s her turn to comfort her,

“I started to think, it will be okay if I have a daughter, at least there is someone whose with me while they are all away with their works,,”

“They are all working? But you’re youngest is just 19 right?” at this point hana is still not aware who are her sons, although she knows their names, she’s not familiar that her three sons are  popular idols,

Before Mrs. Kim could answer a woman together with her daughter approach them,

“shin ae?” she asked, Mrs. Kim stood up, to greet the woman, it was her classmate from high school, her pretty daughter stands cutely behind her,

Hana stand up to also greet the woman,

“This is my daughter Eunmi,” the woman introduces her daughter, she bow at her, Mrs. Kim was a bit jealous of their closeness and it didn’t pass Hanna’s observation,

“you’re daughter?” all of the sudden the woman asked, they both looked at each other, feeling nervous, Mrs. Kim just smile and held Hanna’s hand,,

“I guess we’re both lucky to have a beautiful and nicest daughter,,” she praise

“I guess so,” Mrs. Kim still smiling looking at the woman and to Hanna’s reaction, she smiled back at her meaning that it’s just okay

“Okay, we have to go, see you soon, neh, you know its one special day, mother and daughter bonding, we will go to the salon and shopping for clothes,,”

“Okay, take care,,”

When the two left Mrs. Kim’s smile vanish,

“Mrs. Kim?” hana called

She slowly looked up to her,

“Sorry for using you back there, I just don’t know what to say,”

“It’s okay,” she reached for her drink

“Mrs. Kim can we just pretend like mother and daughter just for this day?” hana begged, the madam looked at her in puzzlement

“Can we just continue with the act? After all I don’t really have any experience bonding with my mother since I have none, I really think that it will be a good experience, that’s it if you agree to it?”

Suddenly her face brighten,

“who told you I will oppose?”
