Ang hirap kapag nagkakasakit ang anak mo. For two days, Luna had a high fever tapos sipon. Every time I see her out of energy, sumasakit ang puso ko. And my heart broke even more kasi nagkataon na overnight shift ako and I couldn't be there for her at night. Kahit wala akong tulog, I made sure that I helped Winter out in the morning. It's hard when Luna gets sick because she becomes clingy and usually ako lang ang gusto niya. But I was relieved that she was able to find comfort sa Mommy Win niya. 

Fortunately, Luna’s fever broke on the third day but she still had a runny nose. Hindi siya makahinga ng maayos at night according to Winter. Kawawa naman ang baby ko. Apparently, she's so congested that she would wake up crying calling for her Mommy Win dahil hindi siya makahinga. 

Ang hirap. 

When I was finally off and took over taking care of Luna at night, sobrang sumikip ang dibdib ko nang makita ko yung struggles ni Luna. 

Mas mahirap pa that Luna can't articulate what she feels yet. So hindi ko alam kung ano ang nararamdaman niya. 

During those times, niyayakap ko lang siya until she calms down and falls asleep. And then she would stir awake and cries when her nose gets clogged dahil sa sipon niya.

“Karina, kailangan natin i- yung sipon niya,” sabi ni Winter sa akin na nakapout. 

Ayaw kasi ni Luna whenever we her nose. She cries so hard that I have to ignore the pang in my chest whenever I have to hold her head in place so Winter can the mucus out of her nose. 

It's a nightmare. Yung iyak ni Luna, para siyang tinotorture. And as a mother, you really have to be strong kapag nagkakasakit ang anak mo. Wish ko lang talaga pwede ko makuha ang lahat ng sakit ni Luna so my baby won't struggle.

I had to remind Win to be careful whenever she uses the er and always wash her hands dahil sa sipon ni Luna. Kids are so contagious at hindi pa nakapag flu shot si Win so mas malala ang sakit niya if ever she gets it. 

Pero sometimes, kahit gaano tayo kalinis at kahit gaano tayo ka careful, those little germs just find their way into your system.

Because as soon as Luna got better, Winter got sick. 

Nasa grocery ako when I received a text from Winter na nanghihina daw siya at hindi na makagalaw.

Good thing I was off. Maalagaan ko si Winter. I quickly bought her medicine, pati na rin mask para hindi na kami magkahawaan sa bahay. It’s difficult na. I’m also very careful sa bahay and I make sure na malinis ang mga damit ko before I go home because I work in the ER. You never know what kind of germs you could bring home. 

Nagmadali akong umuwi, stopping by a carinderia to buy soup for Winter. Noong mga bata pa kami, gustong-gusto ni Winter humigop ng sabaw kapag may sakit siya. Sabi niya kasi that it makes her feel better faster. I also remember how much of a baby Winter becomes when she’s sick. She’s whiny and clingy and always wants to hug something when she sleeps. 

Nakakaawa pa naman si Winter kapag may sakit. For some reason, she gets sick for a long time. Droopy yung mga mata niya tapos naluluha pa siya. She’s already so pale but she’s e
