After the lunch box incident (turns out they stole your lunch box and hid it underneath the teacher’s desk. The teacher was furious when she found it), you and Myungsoo took to hanging out and playing together during recess. The other kids were a little bit scared of Myungsoo because he never talked to anyone and was always staring.
“Do you think he ever does anything besides stare?” one of the kids whispered to her friend. Her friend shook her head as they both stared at Myungsoo. You sat down next to him and his eyes turned to you, and the corners of his mouth twitched up.
“Myungsoo, do you have to be so weird?” you asked, frowning at him as you opened up your lunch box. You traded your banana for his apple, and he pursed his lips.
“What’s it matter if I am? You’re still my friend, right?”
“Yeah. I was just wondering.”
“My mom says too much thinking is bad for you.”
The two of you kept each other company, helping each other with partnered projects. Your parents met during open house, and they all thanked each other for their kid’s interaction with the other’s child.
“They’re sweet together, aren’t they?” your parents asked, looking towards Myungsoo parents. The two of you were on the carpet playing with dinosaurs, waiting for your parents to finish talking to your teacher.
“Your daughter is the only person Myungsoo will talk about at home. I think we should start getting comfortable with each other,” Myungsoo’s mom said with a laugh.
