His Wings

They say love was akin to falling, something involuntary, something you can not choose. But Seung hyun wanted to believe he chose to fall in love with Sandara.

To him, his love for her was not falling, it was flying. Sandara was not gravity that makes you fall, but wings that made you fly.

Because when she first smiled at him, it was like a crack of dawn when light streams out, and he felt light headed. The second time he sees her, it wasn’t involuntary, it was flight. He makes it a point to bump into her.

When he said finally, “Be my girl.”

And when she said, “Yes.” He knew Dara was not gravity. She was his wings.

The Flight

Their relationship was like flying. Dara was his wings that took him to heights. She made him feel all the wonderful things, and when he was happy, he could not imagine ever being sad.

But then there were problems. Those were the days that felt like he had flapped his wings too far, too long. When he was distant, when he was cold. When you are flying, you never really think your wings could get tired.

So when she said, “I’m tired.” He didn’t really understand. “I give up.” Then she cried, and he knew he could never fly again.
