The Next Day- EUNJI

Her head felt like it was going to burst.

On top of that, the nightmare that she had last night didn’t help.

Clutching her head, she went out to the lobby.

"Here, drink this and have medicine." Chorong handed her a bowl of hangover soup

"Unnie, why are you here?" she asked as she gulped down the soup. The leader lived upstairs, so it was unusual for her to be here from early in the morning.

"Hayoungie called me to make soup for you. She said Suho sshi dropped you here."

That Eunji didn’t remember. At all. This was what she got for drinking on empty stomach!

The last she recalled was…Her thoughts got interrupted by the phone that was beeping from somewhere in her room. She quickly scanned the messages let out a curse.

SUHO

He had tossed and turned all night, fearing today to arrive.

That single 'Yongguk oppa' ate his heart

No guy liked their girl calling out her ex's name in her sleep. Especially not after she met that ex earlier.

He had promised himself that he would let Eunji go if that's what made her happy. But he was no saint. Just the thought of her smiling with Yongguk sent a pain to his chest. This was not good.

His phone beeped, signaling a message. He wasn’t going to get any more sleep anyway, so he got up from the bed, reaching for his phone.  

Eunji: I'm sorry about our date yesterday. Are you free today?

Suho didn’t have any schedule today

Suho: Yeah, I'm free today

Her reply came immediately

Eunji: Then, can you please come to my place? I have something to talk to you about. Also, someone that I want you to meet.

Suho was expecting 'the talk' to happen soon and he was resigned as he typed back his reply. But then he wasn’t expecting to meet both of them at the same time…

Suho: Okay

No, he definitely wasn’t okay. Not okay at all..

Eunji: Oh, and wear something nice.

Now that comment baffled him. Why did he need to wear 'something nice' to meet her ex-boyfriend he had no idea

He reached her apartment about an hour later. He had chosen a dark blue button down shirt with black jeans that he was fond of. It was neither too formal nor too informal. Since he didn’t know what he was getting himself into today, this felt about right

Eunji opened the door. She had make up on even though she was at her apartment. And it was like rubbing salt to his wound, as he thought of her getting dolled up for the other guy.

"Come in. And sit down." She invited him in, staring at him lingeringly

Was she feeling guilty?

He sat down on the dining chair. Looking around, it seemed like the other members weren’t home

"Naeun and Hayoung both went to their family home. Chorong unnie was here till about five minutes ago. She helped me cook some dished. Can you taste them for me?"

Eunji looked more nervous than usual in Suho's eyes.

"Are you that nervous to meet him?" he couldn’t help but ask

"Nervous..and excited. This is his favorite dish- Egg soup. Can you tell me how it tastes?" Eunji asked, handing him a small tasting cup

Suho was a man with tolerance. But this was something even he couldn’t tolerate. Her. Making him taste the food that she made for her ex-boyfriend. That too his favorite food.

He truly gave up.

"Eunji. What was the thing you wanted to talk about?" he asked curtly

Noticing the tone of Suho's voice, Eunji looked at him in surprise and sat down on the chair beside him

"I thought we could talk about it after the meal." She replied

"Let's finish the talk first. I don’t know if I'll even be in mood for a meal."  Suho sighed

"But.."

"I know you met Yongguk yesterday. Is that not what you wanted to talk about?" he asked, looking directly into her eyes

She could see the hurt in his eyes. And she hated the fact that she was the one that put the hurt in his eyes.

But she needed to be honest with him

"Yes, I met him yesterday. It was all by coincidence. And that was what I wanted to talk to you about."

She could see his shoulder slouch

"So?" he asked with weak voice

"So, we just talked..and cleared up about the past. He apologized, and I told him about you.."

Eunji hesitated, unsure how to continue. Suho just sat, waiting patiently and with glimmer of hope starting to grow

"Honestly, I was afraid of meeting him. I was afraid of myself, afraid that if I see him he would cause some kind of stir in my heart." Eunji paused to take a sip of water

"And?"

"And.. I would be lying if I say I didn’t feel anything. But what I felt was not the flutter I was expecting.. Instead, it was just… how do I say it.. peace? Yes, meeting him yesterday truly made me feel peaceful with my own heart. That I'm truly and totally over him." she said, with smile on her lips.

But Suho looked somewhat unconvinced by her explanation.

"You..spoke of his name last night when you were asleep." He explained

"Did I? I must have dreamt about him then..I do remember having a nightmare.. but it's not like you can dream what you want to. Seeing him earlier in the day must have made me dream about him..But You have to believe me when I say that
