A Morning Call
Just One Wish
I woke up when the morning sunshine hit my face as it shone through the window. I stretched myself before I propped up on my elbows and peeked to the digital clock on the bedside table. 9:01 AM, darn!
I jolted up and rushed to take a five-minute shower. After I freshened up myself, I stormed out to the kitchen to say goodbye to omma.
"I'll go, mom. I am so late!" I yelled as I grabbed some cookies from the cookie jar since I didn't notice any sandwiches beside it. "Bye."
"It's Saturday today. No school."
What mom said made me stopped on my tracks. "Today is Saturday...." I said softly, remembering the date yesterday.
"Kyungmi-yah, today is Saturday. And what's wrong with your cheeks? You seem like beaten up."
Yikes!
Before mom could even ask further, I turned back and ran up to my room. "Oh, I remember now! Sorry mom. Gotta go upstairs. I need to poo-poo." I cringed at my own alibi. I couldn't think of any best alibis. I'm sure if I'll say pee, she will stop me since peeing can wait a little.
My mom doesn't know about what happened yesterday. And I thank Jaehyo for that. After he treated my bruises yesterday, he asked his girl alpha classmates to put makeup on my bruises to make it disappear. Of course, the girls obliged. Afterall, it's Ahn Jaehyo, the most popular boy, asked them a favor.
