Daehyun had been watching the moon from the cafe door as he waited for his last customer to finish their late night coffee so he could close up shop. Groaning as yet another dark cloud shrouded the silvery sky orb, Daehyun opened the cafe door and poked his head outside. As he had expected, a cold wind assaulted him along with the distinct scent of an incoming storm. Why had he so stubbornly insisted that he wouldn’t be needing his umbrella when his boyfriend had held it out to him that morning? Sure, the sky was bright and blue when he left their apartment but apparently the weather man (and Yongguk) had been more correct than he had.

Rain began to pour down and the man that had been lingering seemed to suddenly remember something important before tossing some money on his table and rushing out with a mumbled exclamation that sounded suspiciously like ‘my convertible' as he did so. Chuckling, Daehyun was at least relieved that he hadn’t been the only one unprepared for the sudden summer storm. That mirth was short lived when he realized he still had to walk home in that wet mess falling from the sky.

Sighing, he closed the door and retreated into the cafe to do some last minute cleaning before he had to brave the storm. Picking up his customer’s payment, he was pleasantly surprised to find a heavy tip mixed in, whether it be out of generosity or blind panic for his precious car exposed to the elements. Pocketing the extra cash gratefully, he made a silent vow to give the man a complimentary item from the daily special next time he was in the cafe as a thank you.

“Hey, Dae. Ready to go?” The deep voice made him jump but he couldn’t help but smile when he turned to face his boyfriend. Bang Yongguk stood just inside the cafe door, a umbrella gripped in his one hand and a take out bag in the other. “I got us dinner. You’re favorite.”

“Gukkie~” Running to his side, Daehyun threw his arms around Yongguk’s neck and kissed him deeply, receiving a chuckle when the other man tried to awkwardly hug him despite his full hands. “My hero. Yeah. I’m ready to go.”

“I hate to say ‘I told you so’ but...” Nodding toward the door and the onslaught of water falling from the sky, Yongguk’s eyes glittered with amusement.

“Oh please. You love that you’re right.” Rolling his eyes, Daehyun let his hands fall to his sides before linking arms with the other man, sticking his tongue out.

“I do.” Admitting as such with a hearty laugh, Yongguk ushered him out of the cafe, stopping at the door for Daehyun to lock up while he opened the umbrella. “But I love you more.”

“I love you too, head.” Leaning against him, Daehyun huddled under the umbrella with the other man, sharing a kiss before they began their trek home. The umbrella was just a little too small to cover the two of them properly as they kept walking forward. Glancing over, it was hard not to see a portion of Yongguk’s shoulder getting drenched. As he examined the wet fabric of his lover’s shirt, he heard a loud splash and felt icy water fill up his shoe. Cursing, he looked down and then the two of them began to laugh. Standing in a puddle, Daehyun shook his head at the sight they must be, both drenched in their own way.

“Might as well put the umbrella away for what good it’s done the both of us.” Daehyun grinned and jumped forward into the next puddle, managing to splash his boyfriend with the muddy water.

“You heathen.” Laughing, Yongguk closed the umbrella and followed after him, watching as Daehyun hopped and danced his way from puddle to puddle. By the time they made it back to their apartment, both men were soaked and dirty, clinging to each other and howling in laughter.

“I’m freezing~” Daehyun giggled as his numb hands managed to unlock the apartment door. “Oh man, why would you let me do that?”

“What can I say? I like seeing you happy.” Making his way into the kitchen, Yongguk’s pants made a sloshing noise as he walked, only making Daehyun laugh harder. “Go get a hot shower started and some dry clothes, you brat. I’m going to start some water boiling. You know how easy you catch a cold.”

“Don’t tell me what to do. You’re not my mom.” Sticking his tongue out, Daehyun snickered before he made his way into the bathroom to do as he was told. “And I never get sick!”

A short while later found the two freshly washed and in comfortable sweatpants, Daehyun himself sporting a baggy shirt that actually belonged to his lover. Curled up in Yongguk’s lap, the two sipped hot chocolate as they watched a horror movie playing on tv, the throw blanket from the back of the couch draped over them. Leaning against Yongguk’s chest, he closed his eyes and sighed happily. All was right in the world until suddenly as strange sensation overcame him and he turned from Yongguk quickly, blocking his face with his arm.

“Dae? Are you okay, baby?” The concern in Yongguk’s voice made him blush and all he could manage was a nod before he let out a particularly intense sneeze. There was a long pause, a silence where Yongguk seemed to process what had just happened, before a deep chuckle escaped him.

“Do not say a word, Bang Yongguk.” He warned, turning to glare at him.

“Say what?” Feigning innocence, Yongguk still had a smirk lingering on his lips.

“You know what...” Narrowing his eyes, Daehyun tried to seem as intimidating as he could muster.

“... I told you that you’d get sick.” Laughing at the groan Daehyun gave him, Yongguk pulled him back against his chest and kissed him deeply and all of his annoyance at the man melted away. “I love you, DaeDae.”

“I love you too, Gukkie.” Kissing him back, Daehyun grinned. Taking another sip of hot chocolate, he knew he didn’t mind if he really had gotten sick, because it was a decent sacrifice to make for such a nice evening with the man he loved.
