“We have two weeks.” Chaeyeon’s voice was hushed in the three-way phone call. “I can get all the paperwork set-up, but it’ll be difficult because we’d all have to sign.”
“Why am I being included?” Kyungsoo deadpanned, Jongin knew that he was all in and tired of his current job. Even if it was different, and even if it was a big risk that put his future on the line, he still had options if it didn’t work out.
“We need Taemin,” she muttered. “Jongin, can you get his contact information so he can be included in this discussion? We also need funding. And my hands are tied.”
“We can do it,” Kyungsoo cut in, but she turned him down immediately.
“No, I know the people who I’d ask for funding from, so I think it has to be me. I need to leave.” Despite her situation, she sounded more alive than she had in ages. “I need to quit the job, and to do that I need to leave the house.”
“You’re saying that you’re going to run,” Jongin reiterated. “Do you realize how much that’s going to affect everyone involved?”
“I’m not going to run,” Chaeyeon explained. “I’m going to leave. If I’m in a different company but the same house, they’ll go after my parents with a lawsuit, or they’ll go after me saying that I used our current employer to create another company, and therefore it wouldn’t be our property.”
