Departure's Boy-friendMother earth really did love Minseok more than she did other kids.
Their teacher had divided the class into two groups for an outdoor ball game. The game was simple: the teams were separated by a net; they just had to pass a ball back and forth in a way that all the kids had a chance to catch and throw.
The game was enjoyable – even more so because Jongdae and Minseok were in the same team – until Minseok’s feet deceived him when he ran to reach the ball thrown to them from the other team, and he fell to the ground, scraping his hands, forearms, and knees as he went sliding across the hard gravel surface.
At first he did not feel any pain. Someone pulled him up to his feet by his shoulders. Naturally expecting his helper to be Jongdae, he turned to thank his classmate – only to find, to his astonishment, Joonmyeon. Minseok could not tell if Joonmyeon was lending him a hand since everyone was watching, or because they were in the same team. Joonmyeon’s eyes seemed genuinely anxious as they flicked from his face to his arms and legs, though.
Just as Minseok, out of the corner of his eyes, saw their teacher and Jongdae rushing toward them, Joonmyeon whispered and pointed at Minseok’s arms, color draining from his angelic face, “Froggie, your –”
