The Phonecall
Let's Not Fall In LoveIt has been three weeks here in Korea. Young Bae and I get closer and closer. He is like the brother I never have, always around to make my days happy. He drives me to beautiful places in Korea and we take loads of photographs together. I am indeed happy here. But about one thing I am curious.
‘Young Bae, can I ask you something?’
‘Yea, what is it?’
He beams while taking another photograph of me sitting among bushes of tiny blue flowers just growing off the banks of the Cheonggye River.
‘It is about that night……That night when you said I looked…’
My question is disrupted by the sudden ringing of Young Bae’s phone.
‘Hold on a second.’
He takes out his phone and sees the name on the screen. His facial expression becomes unnatural for a second but he manages to cover it almost immediately. I noticed it anyhow. Turning away, he answers it.
‘Hello? It’s been…so long.’
His voice faded as he walks further away. Who is that on the other side of the phone? The talk on the phone is short. Young Bae walks back to me, although he is trying very hard to hide it, he looks so much paler and the way his fists are clenched tightly, that person must be someone that troubled him to make him look this way.
