Tiffany didn’t look up when someone sat down on the edge of her office desk.
“Hey. Rude. Am I less important than lunch?"
“Yep,” said Tiffany around a mouthful of pasta.
Sooyoung rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. “Did you not eat breakfast or something?"
Remembering what had happened that morning, Tiffany sat up slowly and swallowed. “I did,” she said finally.
“You did? Wow, I was just kidding. What did you eat?"
Tiffany shrugged. “Why are you only concerned about food?"
“Only your food. Because you don’t eat enough. What did you eat for breakfast?"
“Toast and eggs."
“Toast and—” Sooyoung’s eyes widened. “You actually woke up to cook?"
“No, Taeyeon did. She always eats breakfast and today she left some for me."
Sooyoung’s expression turned serious. “She cooked for you?"
“Kind of?"
“You guys are okay now?"
Tiffany set her fork down against her lunchbox before leaning back heavily. “I don’t know, Sooyoung. I don’t know."
“But why did she suddenly cook breakfast for you?"
“Because I made pasta last night, I think. She left a note to say thanks and she said she accidentally cooked extra eggs."
Tiffany jumped when Sooyoung leaned towards her. “That’s not something you accidentally do, though. You don’t accidentally grab an extra egg from the fridge and accidentally cook it."
“Well,” said Tiffany, picking her fork up again, “I don’t know. I’m not going to question it."
“Does she still…you know?"
“What?"
Sooyoung frowned worriedly. “Is she still intent on, um, ending things?"
“She hasn’t said anything."
“So maybe you were reading her wrong?"
“I don’t know,” said Tiffany, poking her pasta absentmindedly, “I really don’t know."
