We Were In Love
Childhood Friends
Two months has passed. Kahi never saw Jung Ah after Christmas. The only people that came to visit her were Bekah, Nana and Juyeon. Often Kahi would ask Bekah and Nana where Jung Ah was but all they would say would be, "Omma is at home. Aunty Juyeon sent us here."
Kahi was annoyed.
If Jung Ah really was her wife, why wouldn't Jung Ah visit her? See her? Care for her? Simply be there for her?
One day she asked Bekah, "Bekah, why doesn't omma visit me? Does she not love me? I mean, she's my wife, right?"
"Of course she does love you appa! How can you say that?"
"Then why doesn't she visit me? I haven't seen her since Christmas."
"Erm..."
"Come on Bekah, speak up. Tell me the truth."
"Omma... omma can't see you appa."
The words that came out from Bekah's mouth surprised Kahi.
"W-w-why not?"
"Appa, how would you feel if someone you have been friends with since young suddenly forgets you?"
"... I would feel hurt."
"That's what omma feels."
"I don't get it."
"Appa, omma is actually your bestfriend since young. You were childhood friends easy said. You two grew up together." Bekah explained.
"But I can't remember her." Kahi’s facial expression was as though she was frustrated and at the same time hurt.
"Bekah, it's time to go home now." called Juyeon from the door. Nana was standing beside her with an ice cream in her hand.
"I'll see you tomorrow appa." Bekah kissed Kahi's forehead and went out with Juyeon and Nana.
"Annyeong appa!" Nana waved with her free hand. Kahi smiled and waved a little.
That night, Kahi couldn't sleep. She stayed up and tried to figure out who Jung Ah really was.
(2 weeks later)
"Alright Ms Park. Good news for you."
"What is it?" Kahi asked curiously
"Well, looks like there won't be anymore nurses to take care of you. You'll be discharged tomorrow. So you can go home tomorrow. Since the cast on your arm has been taken off and your leg is in the process of healing, you no longer need the wheelchair. You can use crutches now." announced Dr Oh with a smile
"Omg. Really?” Kahi asked, as though not believing her ears.
“Yeah. Any family members to fetch you? I’m sure Bekah and Nana can’t fetch you by themselves.”
“Oh… I don’t have anyone besides them.”
“I can call Ms Kim for you, Ms Park.”
“No, don’t. I don’t want to trouble her. Can’t you just call for an ambulance or a taxi to send me home?”
“I’ll see what I can do. In the mean time, you can just rest first Ms Park.”
