Chapter 33: The Anticipation is Killing
Introducing Lady CutthroatPassing by the window glass, Haru suddenly backtracks. Jongup and Barom are quick to notice the lack of footsteps following them and turn back to look.
“Haru.”
Ignoring Jongup’s calling, she nearly presses herself up against the large glass to have a better look of what is on the other side. Whatever it is, it’s more interesting than getting dragged to who-knows-where by Jongup.
Jongup sighs and places his hands on his hips. He wanted to get out of the sun and she was being an obstacle.
“We have somewhere to be.” He rushes her once more. Though he reminded her, he didn’t think she needed to be. She has always had the tendency to rebel- no matter how small and insignificant the order was.
Again, his words go unnoticed or rather, they’re ignored.
“I want a dog.” Haru finally looks away from the object of her focus and in the direction of the two young men. “This one.”
“No.” Jongup doesn’t hesitate to say. “No dog.”
She wasn’t planning on taking no for an answer and her expression indicated so.
“I think she could use a friend.” Barom suddenly says and it earns him a look from the man beside him.
Jongup walks back towards Haru with Barom in tow. “Which dog?”
“This one.” Haru repeats and points blankly through the glass window.
“That huge Rottweiler?”
“Yeah, he’s cute.”
“Where are you going to put him?” Jongup continues to question her.
“In my bedroom.” She responds. “I’m not telling you this to get your permission… I’m telling you this because I want you to go pay for him.”
“We have an appointment.”
“The faster you get in there, the more likely we’ll get to the appointment on time.” Haru was not going to drop this matter. In actuality, he wasn’t in the position to negotiate anyways.
“We can’t just buy a dog on a spur of a moment.” Jongup retorts.
“I’ve always wanted a dog. If you’re worried about responsibility, I’m prepared– that’s what you want to hear, right?” She responds while motioning him with her hands to urge him to hurry up.
They had an appointment to get to, did they not?
Drawing an annoyed look from him, she watches him walks into the pet shop anyways to carry out her unreasonable request.
“That was random.” Barom comments as he steps beside the young girl.
Yeah, but she did it because she knew she could. This sudden power that she has over her dad’s men is certainly getting to her head.
But, she assumes this is her way of coping with her new situation.

Haru scans the rows of dresses that the shop brought out specifically for her. They watched her warily when her expression doesn’t change to a more pleasant one now that they were on the third rack.
“Do I have to?” She questions.
“It’s a formal affair.”
“How formal can it be if it’s going to be filled with gangsters?” She responds to Jongup’s statement. The last people she would describe as classy would be the people her dad fraternizes with.
Everyone else would agree.
“This will end quicker if you make a decision.”
Well, that is exactly what she is aiming for. “The least constricting one.” Haru points out. “I can’t run in anything that has the potential to choke me.”
Jongup sighs from the seat on the couch beside her. “Who says you’re going to have to run? It’s a dinner, it’s not going to be a marathon.”
Haru turns her head and shoots him a look. Breathing in, she turns and her attention shifts towards the cutie sitting at her feet. “Y
