Prologue

Roommate X

A cheerful young lady was excited to start her new school year in a new country. Growing up in the USA was quite different from Korea but her parents taught her well. She knew how to speak fluent Korean on top of speaking English. She had this bubbly aura to her that could be seen from all the students passing by her. She has an eye-smile unlike any other they have seen before.

“Hello my name is Stephanie Miyoung Hwang but you could call me, Tiffany. I came from Los Angeles, California. This is my first year here in Korea, so please take care of me.” The bubbly girl from before had introduced herself to the class and bowed politely to her peers.

“Thank you Ms. Hwang. You shall sit next to Ms. Jung over there. She is the one that has her head down.” Mr. Lee pointed out. Tiffany nodded and made her way to her sit.

“Hi I’m Kim Taeyeon. Nice to meet you.” A shorter girl that was to the right of Tiffany stuck out her hand.

Tiffany smiled and shook her hand in return. “Nice to meet you too.” Tiffany turned to her left so she could say hi to Ms. Jung but the girl still had her head down. Tiffany was debating whether to tap her on the shoulder because Mr. Lee will soon start his morning lesson.

“I wouldn’t bother her if I were you.” Taeyeon interrupted Tiffany’s thoughts. “She likes to sleep and when she wakes up unexpectedly, she kind of gets grumpy. Her name is Jessica Jung and she’s from America too. I think San Francisco but she has been in Korea for a while now.”

Tiffany agreed and she didn’t want to make enemies on her first day of school, so she let the sleeping girl be. Jessica happened to sleep through the whole lecture and not once did the teachers wake her up, it was like it was normal for this student to be sleeping. The bell had rung indicating it was lunch time and the sleeping girl hasn’t moved an inch. Tiffany was highly curious about this Jessica person but again Taeyeon intercepted.

“Sica will get up soon but we could head to the cafeteria for now. I could introduce to my other friends.” Taeyeon dragged Tiffany out of the classroom even though Tiffany’s mind was stuck on Jessica.

Tiffany got to know 6 other girls when she got to the cafeteria. Lee Sunny, Kim Hyoyeon, Kwon Yuri, Choi Sooyoung, Im Yoona, and Ju Seohyun. Everybody was delighted to meet another girl from America who was the complete opposite to their other American friend.

“Who is this? A new girl?” A monotone voice rung through Tiffany’s ears. She whipped her head to meet eyes with this icy glare but was paired with beautiful brown eyes. She was very pretty in Tiffany’s eyes and she couldn’t help but stare. “What? Do I have drool on my face or something?” Jessica asked this new stranger to her, while wiping off non-existence drool by .

“No Sica you don’t have any drool.” Yuri said.

Jessica nodded her head and sat next to the star struck new girl. “What are you actually staring at, beautiful?”

Tiffany was snapped out of her thoughts when she heard Jessica speak again. Did she just call me beautiful? Tiffany’s cheeks were a shade of pink and Jessica witnessed the girl’s embarrassed reaction. “My name is Tiffany Hwang. I hear you are from America too.”

“Jessica Jung. Nice to meet you as well. I’m from San Francisco.” The both greeted each other and stared into one another’s eyes.

----------------------------------------------------

Weeks went by and Tiffany managed to bond with everybody in the crew especially Jessica. A lot of the other students didn’t really approach Jessica that well because she seemed like a cold and mean person but Tiffany thought the opposite. Tiffany enjoyed being with Jessica a lot, they were polar opposites but fit so well together.

Tiffany is the cheerful type. She loved to befriend everybody. She was really into playing piano and singing and joined the cheer squad with Seohyun because most of the crew were into sports. So what better way to support her friends was to be a cheerleader. Yoona and Sooyoung played basketball, Taeyeon and Yuri played football, Hyoyeon was on the dance team, and Sunny and Jessica played soccer.

Jessica was distant and wasn’t really fond of making new friends outside of the people she already knew. She loved the adrenaline of playing soccer but she also like art. Drawing was her passion. Other students called her the “Ice Princess” because of her blank expressions and cold stares. Her friends knew her better though. She was a very caring person to those closes to her.

----------------------------------------------------

“Let’s go to an amusement park guys! The weather is perfect.” Tiffany suggested. All 9 girls were at Taeyeon’s house trying to figure out what they should do for the weekend.

Sunny walked to the window to look out at the sky. “It does look nice out and nobody is really saying any ideas except for Fany here.”

“Yeah it is settled than! To the amusement park!” Tiffany stood up clapping and jumping excitedly.

All 9 girls entered the park and Hyoyeon was the first to run to a fellow mutual friend that happened to be Jessica’s cousin, Nicole Jung. She was on the same dance team as Hyoyeon was.

“I guess we are rolling in pairs than.” Taeyeon commented. Sunny automatically clung onto Taeyeon once she said that. Sooyoung and Yuri high fived each other and the maknae’s Yoona and Seohyun linked arms with one another.

Tiffany smiled at her friends and then turned to see who was left to be her partner. She stared intently at the blank expression that Jessica was showing when she spaced out. Jessica sensed Tiffany’s stares, so she turned her head to lock gazes with one another and she gave Tiffany a slight smile. Tiffany’s heart race sped up when Jessica gave her a gently small smile. Jessica wasn’t the type to talk about her feelings normally but with Tiffany it was different. She could practically tell the girl anything and she wouldn’t judge her. Tiffany was so lost staring into Jessica’s eyes, so Jessica took the initiative and grabbed the latter’s hand. Jessica intertwined these hands together and dragged Tiffany to the first ride everybody wanted to go too. Tiffany could feel something with Jessica but she didn’t know of what.

----------------------------------------------------

“Jessica likes girls?” Tiffany questioned.

“Yeah, I thought you knew that. In a matter of fact most of us are gay. I mean I’ve liked Taeyeon for a long time but we aren’t dating, Yuri is a flirt when it comes to the ladies, and I think Yoona likes Seohyun a lot as well.” Sunny explained.

Tiffany gave it some thought and nodded.

----------------------------------------------------

Tiffany came out of the girl’s locker room only to find Jessica standing near the entrance leaning against the wall like a cool person. She smiled to herself because some of the other girls would squeal and fangirl when they passed by her. “Who are you waiting for?” She approached the girl.

Jessica looked up to see Tiffany’s smiling face and she couldn’t help but to smile as well. “You.” She bluntly said.

Tiffany was startled by the sudden answer because it was the first time Jessica took action first. “M-Me?” She pointed to herself.

Jessica chuckled at Tiffany’s confused face because it amused her at first. “Yes you. I actually want to ask you something.”

“Oh okay. Go for it.”

“I need help with my art final. I need somebody to model this dress that I have to draw and I want you to be my model.”

Tiffany’s eyes widen at Jessica’s favor. “Me model? I don’t know if I could do that.”

“Of course you can. You’re beautiful Tiff.”

Tiffany’s heart raced once again at Jessica’s simple compliment. She always got complimented by other people but when it came to Jessica is was a bit different. She liked this different. “Okay.”

----------------------------------------------------

Jessica was filing in a few shades on Tiffany’s facial features. After a long 2 hours with breaks included she was finally down with her art piece. Tiffany walked over to the easel with the canvas on it and her jaw almost dropped to the floor. She was completely speechless at Jessica’s masterpiece. It was beyond beautiful and Tiffany couldn’t describe it into words easily.

“Well, what does the model think?” Jessica asked randomly.

“What do I think? It looks amazing it! I really look like that though?” Tiffany looked straight at Jessica for an answer.

Jessica lightly chuckled at her weird question. “Of course you do. I told you, you’re beautiful. I traced over every complexion you have so my drawing is just as incredible like the real one.” Jessica stood up from her seat and looked at Tiffany. They were lost in each other’s eyes, until Jessica decided to take a small step forward and Tiffany’s eyes widen. She wanted to back away but Jessica grabbed her wrist to stop her from going anywhere. “Stay Tiffany.” She said quietly but enough for Tiffany to hear her.

“Jessi…”

“I like you.” Jessica’s sudden confession made Tiffany hold in her breath. Was she dreaming, definitely not. “Our personalities are the opposite of one another but I feel like you complete me. You are like the other piece of the puzzle to my heart. Push me away if you don’t want this.” Tiffany didn’t say anything so Jessica went with it. She leaned forward to kiss the girl on the lips. The kiss was gently and sweet but to Jessica’s surprise Tiffany was returning the kiss. Tiffany even took small steps forward to close the tiny gab between them. The two shared a tender loving kiss in the art room.

----------------------------------------------------

“You look so good in that shirt!” Tiffany happily clapped upon seeing her new girlfriend at her front door wearing a pink button up shirt that she had bought for her.

“Of course. My awesome girlfriend got it from me.” Jessica retorted.

The two enjoyed a date to the movies and dinner. There friends were happen to know that they got together to date one another.

----------------------------------------------------

It had been months since the two started dating and soon they were going to graduate high school and move onto college. School was over and there was a season break for the sports team so Jessica got to walk Tiffany to her house for once. They are usually busy with after school stuff and with the school year ending but this was a chance to be together quietly and privately. “It’s almost over.” Tiffany huffed out.

Jessica hummed in response. Tiffany has noticed that Jessica was a bit quiet than usual today. “Something wrong Jessi?”

Jessica stopped in her tracks and Tiffany did the same. Tiffany waited until Jessica spoke up to know what has been bothering her girlfriend. “I won’t be here for college.”

It took a minute for Tiffany to process what Jessica had said and she couldn’t believe it. “E-Excuse me? Explain.”

Jessica looked up from the ground to see Tiffany’s confused facial expression. “I...” She took a deep breath before continuing. “I got into a university in New York. I just received my acceptance letter this morning. They have a great program for fine arts in fashion.”

Tiffany couldn’t believe what she was hearing. Her girlfriend was leaving her. She couldn’t find the right words to say so she just turned around and proceeded to walk home.

“Tiff?” Jessica ran up to Tiffany and tried to grab her hand only to be pushed away.

“Don’t! If you are going to leave than leave. We are over!” With that said Tiffany ran away from Jessica with all her might. Jessica stood there shocked of what Tiffany told her. She thought her girlfriend would be a little bit understanding and try to work with a long distance relationship but no. She was left alone.

After that day Tiffany didn’t really hang out with the crew while Jessica was there. She only saw her friends when Jessica was present or nowhere to be found.

Graduation had come and Jessica was already going to leave the very next day. She was at the airport and her friends were there to wish her a safe flight. She was hoping that this one eye smiley girl would show up but nothing.

Goodbye Tiffany, for now. Jessica closed her eyes so she could relax for her long ride to New York.

A/N: What a way to kick start this story. So that was the prologue/backstory of Jessica and Tiffany's relationship. What do you think of Tiffany running away from Jessica once she found out she would be leaving for college? Was it harsh? How will there next meeting be? Akward? Maybe. Who knows, but me! Haha. Hope you guys enjoyed this. I wanted to at least but up the begining of the story before the night ends.
