I : Auditions & Fake
The Reality Dream*Iven's POV
Setting: Singapore
It was finally the day where I could audition and possibly become a trainee. I had to get in to prove the bullies that I had talent and I wasn't just a dumb, quiet boy.
I was ready, even though it was my first time. I had practiced so many times and spent my time for dance classes and private lessons to get it right. I knew that I would have to freestyle, but I was ready.
As I entered the building, I found the room where everyone had to wait to be called for auditions right away. I was greeted right away by the JYPE staff and they led me to the registration table. At the registration table, the JYPE staff handed me a form and said:
"Hello, please fill out this form and once you are done, please give it to me. I will give you an audition number in exchange."
"Thank you," I replied.
I then headed to a nearby table and filled out my form there. I read over the information carefully before signing the terms of conditions and headed back to the registration table. I handed my form back to the JYPE staff and she had an interested face as she said:
"Oh, you are a mix of many Asian races and you know all the languages already?"
I replied, "Well, I know how to speak the basic of all of them, but I've only mastered Korean, Vietnamese, and Cantonese."
"That's cool. Anyway, here is your audition sticker and please wait patiently for your number to be called. "
I thanked her and headed to the wall where there was a lot of space. Then I took my phone out and opened the Spotify app where I free styled to the music that played. I only did small movements since I had to save my energy for the real thing.
After about 15 minutes, my number was called along with others. We all lined up single file line and received the same instructions to stand against the wall until you are called by the judge to freestyle to the music played. I found out that the staff had separated us by the categories of what we auditioned for and didn't mix it like what I heard in other people's audition experiences on YouTube.
I was the last one out of the 10 to dance in my group. As the time passed and the people before me danced, I watched the judge carefully of his expressions. Though, it was pretty hard to tell if he was amused or displeased, since he kept the same face the whole time.
It was finally my turn and I was ready to dance. When they played the music, I began with some warm up moves. Then as the song reached the , I whipped out my secret moves which was something I had spent 2 years learning. By the end of the freestyle, I looked around quickly and everyone seemed awed except for the judge which he always kept that straight expression. But as I stared at him, I saw the smallest twinkle in his eyes and I knew that my hard work probably paid of. Though, I was still pretty nervous since I knew if I got too cocky, there was still a possibility of me not getting in and that would hurt me so much.
As I headed home, I was greeted by the bullies who knew I had tried to audition and began taunting me that I would never make it. Though that never made me stop hoping since, I knew that deep in my heart I could make it.
That night, I was about to sleep when I got a text from the "JYP company". It read:
-Congratulations! You have passed the auditions and we would like you to come at xxx place to pass one more round to become a newbie k-pop idol. -JYPE
At first, I was freaking out, but then I reread the message the and the 'newbie k-pop idol' gave off the wrong feel. I then knew someone was trying to scandal me and get me out of the auditions. I remembered the head staff of the JYPE Global Auditions saying that they would send a confirmation number for you to check on the website what time they want you to meet.
So I decided to text them back, pretending that I was falling for it, saying:
-Thank you! What date do I meet and what time?
The fake JYP replied:
-Meet us on May 21 at 1 PM
That's when I confirmed that it wasn't the real JYP entertainment company since they didn't send me the confirmation number but instead the date and time which they said they would only reveal to you.
But what I didn't know was that they only used this texting conversation to install a tracking device on my phone. I didn't find out until the next morning where I was kidnapped into a van…
