His muscles ache and his head is throbbing where he'd been hit earlier. The blood on his forehead no longer warm on his skin but rather stiff, a small weight only dragging him further into the darkness of his mind, the future that he no longer has.

He tries moving his fingers, hoping that it'll bring blood back into them but it only serves to create a dull ache. It makes him feel alive despite everything about him saying otherwise. He isn't dead, his heart is still beating, but he might as well be.

The duct tape covering his mouth is pulling at his skin every time he makes a small movement.

He doesn't know how long it's been. It could've been minutes, hours, days. It's dark in the room. His eyes seeing nothing yet they're still pleading silently. He knows they're out there, waiting for something that'll allow them to finish what they've started. He also knows that someone somewhere, out there, is looking for him, trying to come before it's his end.

Except they're too late. They're already too late.

With a last flutter of his eyelashes, he closes his eyes, focuses on the sound of his heart, keeping him alive. He focuses on the dull ache in his muscles, the prickle of his skin and the uncomfortable feeling of blood on his forehead. It doesn't make a difference that it's his own darkness now.

It was darkness all along.

Taemin's PYN-teasers were wild and this was definitely inspired by them. Short, but I had so much fun writing it, trying to describe the feelings one might have in this situation, aware of your future but unable to do anything about it. Fear is not a part of it because Taemin isn't afraid.
