“Hey Donghae, what are you doing here?”

Fake smile GD thought.

Momentarily abandoning his homework assigned him by Dara, his ‘emotions-checklist ‘was held limply in his lap.

Why is she faking it?  GD asked himself; still looking at Dara.

Taking a tiny step back, she removed her left hand from the doorknob and used it to clasp her right hand behind her back.  This puzzled GD. Since being found by Dara, in contrast to studying endless paperwork, gun structures, war plans, different types of machineries and poisons- she was the only thing he studied. All day.  He found it interesting how he noticed he couldn’t study her in a day. That’s how long it normally took for him to understand a certain concept… but Dara, she’s different he had continuously told himself. Unlike the other things he studied and understood, she was always teaching him things he never dreamed of learning about.

He noticed that she preferred bunnies to puppy dogs. That when Dara bites her lip softly; she’s hungry and if she’s thirsty she wets the top off her bottom lip with the tip of her tongue. He learned that if she crosses her right leg over her left, she’s scared and if she wrinkles her nose at you while avoiding eye-contact, then she has run out of ideas… but when she intertwines her hands behind her back, she’s nervous.

“You’ve been dodging me” a voice replied.

 A burst of searing pain shot through GDs head.

“… and so I decided to drop by.”

Upon hearing that unfamiliar voice GDs jaw clenched and hoping to soothe the pain, he clutched his head and cradled it between his knees.

‘Something’s wrong’ GD screamed in his head. There was pounding in his head and it grew louder and louder causing Daras voice slowly fade into the background.

‘No, no, no… GD started breathing heavily … I can’t hear her voice. I need to hear her voice.’

Clamping his mouth shut to prevent any noise from escaping, he pleaded for the pain to stop. This wasn’t like any other pain, he felt. Other times he received pain from receiving a wound for the first time. This felt as if it were an old wound he had stitched up and was now re-opened.

‘You can’t save her…’

GD willed his breathing to normal and zeroed in on the voice in his head. The voice was emotionless he noticed.

‘You are not to meet her…’

‘Who are you?’ GD asked the voice in his mind.

‘You were never supposed to meet her…’

‘I SAID WHO ARE YOU?!’ GD screamed out loud and grasped his hair with his hands until his knuckles were white.

“Yeah, I’ve been kind of busy with the shop and- ”

Upon hearing GD scream Dara stopped her conversation with Donghae mid-sentence and ran towards GD. The sight of him had shocked her so much she stopped walking towards him and just watched.

GD was on the floor in the fetal position. He looked so vulnerable. His knuckles were white from clutching his head too tight and she could hear his loud laboured breath followed by a few moans of pain. As he was groaning in pain she noticed Gaho whimpering beside his cheek. She didn’t know what to do. She didn’t think she could move. She had never been in this situation anymore. She was only Dara. She wasn’t anyone special, how could she- …

“DARA? WHO THE HECK IS THAT?!”
