As his eyes flashed open, Kai found himself staring up at a familiar ceiling. He was somehow back in his own bed, with one arm stretched awkwardly towards the adjacent night stand, fingertips pressing against the glass screen of his cell phone.

It was all a dream, whispered a haunting voice at the back of his mind.

NO, he fought back, untangling himself from the mess of white sheets and climbing out of bed. Luhan is real!

He hesitantly approached the bedroom window, remembering how Luhan had brought his palm to the glass the last time he had stood there. Before he was within arm’s reach, his feet brushed up against an unexpected heap of black fabric on the floor.

The memories came flooding back all at once. Luhan had used his curtain to dress up like the grim reaper. It wouldn’t be on the floor if he wasn’t real. He has to be real!

Relief flooded his soul as he began to call out Luhan’s name, yelling it at the top of his lungs, hoping the mischievous boy would come out of hiding. But he didn’t.

Then he remembered something Luhan had told him not too long ago: “The last three times you’ve teleported us, we’ve ended up being separated. And the physical separation has been exactly the same as it was last night.”

Kai racked his brain, trying to figure out what time it was and where Luhan would be at that exact moment. He once again turned towards the window. It was light outside, but the sky was overcast. Heavy droplets were falling from the gray sky in sheets.

Kai felt his heart sink into his stomach as he realized what that meant. He had inadvertently teleported the two of them too far into the future. Luhan could no longer prevent his brother’s accident. It was too late.

Overwhelmed with regret, he instinctively inched closer to the window, staring down at the rain soaked streets below. Even from his distant vantage point, he recognized Luhan at once, crossing the street towards his apartment building.

Chapter 7: this story managed to make me feel like on a beautiful sunny day. marvelous.
i wanna cry, but it's too hot outside. i feel like..... Kai is desperate? like.... another level of desperate? and i find it odd that he doesn't even remember he gave a speech at Han's funeral, let alone going to the funeral itself. and how long as it been since Han died? will Nini even get back to normal at this point? i think he'll go insane. this is wayyyyy too much for him, his heart won't be able to take it. i hope he won't do something dumb.
ps: scroll over the spoiler bar if u wanna read it.
