Chapter 5: Step one

“I admire a competent woman but please rest when you should. [Y/N], keep that schedule diary away and focus on the street” -Jiyong ordered,

“Give me a minute, i’m writing the last sentence” -I said, and right about that, i yawned so big until my eyes watered. Then he chuckled, “Careful there, you don’t want to get jaw dislocation from yawning too big” -T.O.P who was sitting beside me, teased. 

“Seriously? I can get jaw dislocation from yawning too big?” -I asked, new to the information. He nodded, looking at me in amusement throughout the whole journey. Weird.

“I’ll go queue for the drinks. What do you guys want?” -Jiyong asked now that we have shopped for around three hours attracting tons of their fans, feet’s exhausted. “I should do it” -I offered but he stopped me.

“Science girl, look at that” -T.O.P suddenly came and sit beside me, pointing to a couple nearby who are holding hands. “What? What about it?” -I asked curiously.  “Do you know why people hold hands? Especially in a relationship?” -He asked.

“I heard about it before. Something about providing warmth to the other person? But generally i think it’s human nature, no? We shake hands when we meet someone we don’t know, and we-” -I started speaking, but to my ultimate surprise, he took my hands and held them under the table. 

“W-what-” I started, “True but not quite the exact. See, how do you feel when i hold your hands like this?” - He questioned and i looked at the way our hands are entwined together. It feels surprisingly weird because my warmth had merged with his. It’s like we’re of different temperature at first and when we hold hands, our warmth had merged into one, moulding it together, and sharing the same temperature of warmness. 

“United?” -I meekly answered, which sounded more like a question.

“Connected” -He corrected me. “And this is also the first physical connection between two humans. You’re allowing them into your personal space” -He smiled, his eyes locking with mine for the first time, “and for couples, it’s also a declaration of devotion” 

“In other words….” -I trailed off, “Doesn’t it means that it’s a sign of showing someone you are interested/like in them, without actually telling them? Without words?” -I asked and he nodded.

“Yeah. But there are also body languages before that. Like a telltale that they are interested in you. Eye contact especially” -He said, locking his eyes with mine.

“Oh….” -I trailed again, strangely feeling anxious. If what he said is true, then why is he looking at me so intently, while holding my hand? It doesn’t make sense either if i out-reason myself and force myself to believe that he likes me. I mean, hell, He barely even knows me. There’s no way.

“Tch…. you’re really very dense” He chuckled again, and smiled.

“That’s the second time you called me that” -I grumbled.

“When are you going to realise what i’m trying to say?” -He smiled to himself.

“Maybe when you start talking in a normal person way?” -I asked.

“Why-What is this mood?” -Jiyong came back with three cups of drinks.

“He’s teaching me about love” -I answered, getting my hands out of T.O.P’s grasp.

“Teaching about love?” -Jiyong asked, “Teaching about love huh?” -T.O.P asked the same time, a smirk slowly appeared on his face as if he have a great idea that popped into his mind.

“Yeah. He was holding my hands and looking into my eyes and said that’s how people feel-” I explained halfway.

“Hyung….”-Jiyong suddenly said after he gave it some thoughts, cutting me off. “Don’t tell me you are intr-….” -He trailed, looking over between me and T.O.P.

“I think so” T.O.P answered plainly, and sipped his coffee.
