his birthday

Dear Yoongi,

         Happy Birthday…it’s another birthday I haven’t celebrated with you. That makes ten now, and I can’t stand it. Considering the fact that it’s also our anniversary today, it makes it just that much harder for me to celebrate without you, but I will wait. After all, you’re coming back eventually, right?

         I went to the shops today and I got your gift, I really hope you’ll like it like all the other ones I’ve gotten you since you left. They’re just sitting in my closet, all stacked up, waiting for you to come open them. I can’t wait for you to open them, either. When are you coming home?

         I hope it’s soon, Yoongi. I really miss you. Every time I call you don’t answer, and I just don’t know what to think. If you’re not coming back, why can’t you just say so?

         I love you, Yoongi. I hope to see you soon…one day.

“Hey, you know what today is, right?” Yoongi asks Sunbi in the middle of one of their breaks during class. Sunbi tilts her head in confusion at him, not exactly knowing where he’s getting at.

“March 9th, why?”

“Well…”

“What is it, Min Yoongi?” Sunbi asks sternly when Yoongi doesn’t answer her just yet. She wants the answer out of him this instant! It must be important if he’s holding back like this. “Just spit it out.”

“On this very day, March 9th in the year of 1993, a boy named Min Yoongi was born.”

Sunbi’s mouth hangs open in surprise and disappointment. He had never told her when his birthday was.

“It’s your birthday, Min Yoongi?” She takes a hit to his arm, whereas he flinches, but laughs at the reaction simultaneously. “Why didn’t you ever tell me?”
