Two.

Tell Me, What Is Love?

Bomi gripped her phone tightly in her hand, a smile of victory never leaving her lips. Yes, of course she’s happy for now. She couldn’t describe how happy she felt after she read Kyungsoo’s last text. Whoa, she never expect him to send a message that was full of guilt and sorry — alright, she didn’t want to admit this but really he sounded like a real gentleman. Something must hit the guy’s head, she thought. Anyway, because of his last text she finally could breathe comfortably. She’s grateful, at least Kyungsoo didn’t left her out in this marriage — because her decision is important too in this matter.

“Thank you for letting me win once, Do Kyungsoo.” She muttered under her breath. She’s freaking relieved like seriously. Well, for some reason she’s quite curious about what makes Kyungsoo to change his mind. He’s not the kind of person that change his decision easily. Something must made him to do that — but then she didn’t really care. The most important thing right now is for her to find a way to escape herself from procedding this marriage. Well, one thing for sure — she’s not going to marry anyone yet in this kind of young age. Like seriously, she’s just 24 and her parents were demanding her to get married with a person that she barely know — okay, barely like actually. Both of Kyungsoo and her are only 24 and being dragged into this kind of marriage thingy is totally an example of insanity. Alright, not that bad but oh come on, marriage is not an easy thing. She’s still freaking not ready to be someone else’s wife — by just thinking of that it makes her to cringe. The biggest problem is the ‘pure love’. Being Yoon Bomi, she’s totally clueless about love as she never experienced it. Not at once.

Bomi let out a deep breath. Come on, she need to stop thinking about all of these crap. Like seriously, she need to set her focus for her meeting today. Sighs, what a hectic day again. Yeah, she had to deal with all of that since she’s the heiress of Yoon Corporation — but still, sometimes she still wished that she could live an ordinary life like the others; where she could make her decision by herself — not by her parents. Sighs, it’s burdening her everytime she thought about it. Being the youngest among of the three siblings made her to work harder. She wants to show to the world how reliable the youngest child could be to her family.
The sound of her phone’s ringtone snapped her thoughts. Her hand quickly reached for the baby blue-coloured iPhone and accepted the call. The voice of human’s scream that sounds like dolphin entered her ears which made her to avoid it. With a sigh, she shook her head. It’s none other from her bestfriend and her ‘older sister’, Park Chorong.

“YAH YOON BOMI! I SWEAR THAT I’M GOING TO KILL YOU AS SOON AS WE MET!” Her dolphin voice almost cracked her ear drum like seriously. What kind of sin that she’ve done to even receive this kind of treat.

“Park freaking Chorong like seriously stop screaming or else I’m going to choke your throat as soon as we met I swear!” Well, that’s totally worked as Chorong started to use her super-normal voice again. She still sounded like a kid eventhough she’s already 28 — oh and yeah, she’s a someone’s wife too, yeah how can she forgot that fact.

“Okay, I’m sorry for ruining your mood but like seriously Naeun just said that you’re going to marry pretty soon and what the hell I don’t even—”

“No.” Bomi cut her off. Like seriously, this thing is going to drive her crazy. And, where the hell Naeun knew about this? Oh crap, yes. She totally forgot it that she ran to Naeun after her father announced the marriage thingy at the family dinner. Crap, she shouldn’t trust Naeun. Of course Naeun would tell Chorong and she’ll be in chaos. Bomi stayed silent for a while as she massaged her temple while leaning against her bed. She took a deep breath before she continued with her woods.

“Okay, look Chorong-unnie I’m sorry for not telling you the news but really — I don’t know if I should. It’s an arranged marriage, so you probably know how would it be right? I’m totally messed up right now and news just came out like that. So please, I hope that you’ll understand my situation. Plus, I’m still not ready and I’m freaking out right now — like seriously I need to figure out a way to cancel off the marriage.” Bomi’s long explanation made Chorong to be drown in silent. And Bomi understand her, the female need to digest all of her words first before she spoke again.

“O-kay... I’m totally dumbfounded right now. I thought that you already found someone and you didn’t even tell me. Whoa, I don’t know how to react, like seriously. I’m sorry for acting like that.” A smile crept on Bomi’s lips as soon as she heard the older female apologizing on the line. Nah, she didn’t even mind because she knew how much Chorong cared about her.

“Don’t be unnie. You’re such a sweet heart you know. No wonder Baekhyun-oppa loves you alot.” Chorong’s light chuckle could be heard on the line as she mentioned Baekhyun’s name. Yes, Byun Baekhyun is the luckiest man on Earth who finally thaw the cold heart of Park Chorong — really being a conservative woman, Chorong didn’t pay much attention on guys. Moreover, she never experience love before. So that’s why she thought that Baekhyun is super-lucky to be her first guy that ever made her to fall in love. And they just got married last year. Eventhough Chorong is one year older than him, but she had to admit that Baekhyun is more matured than Chorong. Sighs, both of them were just so lucky for being married because of their pure love.

“Stop it, he’ve been off to a business trip and I’m missing him alot. Ah, how I wish that he could be right here now.” Bomi could sense happiness in Chorong’s voice. That makes her to envy Chorong even more. Sighs, Chorong had everything since her family didn’t even care much about who she’s marrying. The Park family is totally cool, gosh like seriously should she change her name to Park Bomi? Okay, that’s freaking impossible.

    “You’re missing him?”

“Of course, I miss my husband alot. I don’t know how to explain it because my love towards him is infinite.”

“Man, what did Byun Baekhyun done to you? You’re being so cheesy,”

“Oh come on, you should try to experience it once. You can’t never understand it if you don’t learn to open your heart. Bomi, like seriously I’ve known you for years since we’re in the middle school. You never try, don’t you?”

Chorong’s words somehow made her to be drowned in such a deep silent. Her fingers kept playing with her hair as she think about it. Chorong’s words were totally true and she couldn’t deny it. Sighs, what can she do? She never experience love and she didn’t know how to.

“Cut that crap off unnie, you’re the same too. You never have guts to even involve yourself with guys until that Byun freaking Baekhyun came into your life,” Bomi could imagine that Chorong was rolling her eyes. Yeah, Chorong already acknowledge that Byun Baekhyun is totally opposite with Chorong’s character. Baekhyun was so playful while Chorong was always the one who’ll stay serious. No one could expect that they would end up together and even got married to each other after they dated for almost a year — well it happened quite fast right? Little that Bomi knew, Chorong was happy alongside Baekhyun and Bomi was delighted too to see the couple live their life happily. Sighs, Chorong and Baekhyun are so lucky. Unlike her, who’s trapped in the arranged marriage by her parents. Sighs, thinking about that made her to feel a slight of burden on her shoulders.

As the youngest one among her siblings, she always strive hard to be the best so that she could stand in the same platform with her elder brother, Yoon Doojoon and her elder sister, Yoon Bora. They’re the pride of the Yoon Corporation and also the dignity of their family. She wanted to be like them and followed their footsteps, bringing her family’s name on the top. Being a Yoon is tough, you have to be the best among of the best. That’s why Bomi never waste her time with guys or anything that would distract her focus. And as for now, she just wanted to keep her focus on her works as the Director of Yoon Corp. But then, the arranged marriage just knocked her out like thousands times. Even her sister didn’t have to go through with this kind of thing nor her brother too. It’s just so unfair.

“I don’t know. It’s just that... I’m not ready yet. I’m super not ready with all of these thingy. I need alot of time to deal with all of these things.” A heavy sigh escaped her lips for once again.

“Girl, chill. I know that it’s hard but then it’s your parents’ wish. I know how obedient you were towards them and you can’t just simply ran yourself from this. After all, this marriage might be a part of the cruel corporation game but why not you gave it a try? Learn to know more about the guy that was paired with you.”

“Pfft, you’re talking as if marriage is such an easy thing.” Bomi snickered.

“No, I didn’t deny that fact — but in marriage you’ll learn alot of things. You’ll learn about how to tolerate and care towards each other. That’s how love will come. You know, I experienced that alot in my marriage because you know how playful Baekhyun was right? Sometimes I just can’t help it when he annoyed me while I’m working off my damn proposals. But I learnt how to tolerate with him and he learnt how to tolerate with me. That’s how everything worked.”

“But still.... I just can’t. Not when that guy is.. Do Kyungsoo.” The moment when Bomi chanted Kyungsoo’s name she could hear Chorong’s gasp across the line. Wow, she bet that Chorong must be so shocked to know the fact that she was arranged to marry Do Kyungsoo — well, no one would ever expect that.
“Oh my God. Are you freaking serious? That Do Kyungsoo who always be your rival in high school? Wow, I just—” Chorong was totally speechless. Bomi sighed. Now Chorong would probably knew the reason why she’s worried of this marriage.

“That nerdy geek from your year who always beat you in getting the first place? Oh my God, you guys must be fated to each other, like seriously. Oh gosh, I’m sorry Bomi but I’m totally freaking out right now.” Now Chorong sounded like a fangirl who’s fangirling over some news of her idols. Seriously, that Park Chorong — no, Byun Chorong is already 26 and she’s reacting like a teenage girl wow Bomi was so done with the elder.

“Cut that off, unnie. It’s all in the past. Something really bothered me somehow. He just told me that he wanted to proceed with the marriage when we first met to discuss about our freaking insane marriage.”

    “Really?”

“Yeah. But then I just got his text telling me to meet him this Saturday. He wants to discuss it again peacefully, without having any fight. He wanted both of us to decide — either we’re going to proceed with this insane wish or not. Gosh, something must hit his head. I just knew him too much. Do Kyungsoo is not the kind of person who’s easily would change his decision. Hm, something’s must came up.”

“Whoa, I just can’t believe this. Both of you were totally strangers towards each other. I mean, how can both of you even tolerate with each other wow this is so golden!”

“Whatever unnie. Think what you want. Oh my god, I’m going to be late. I’ll call you again unnie, and please tell Naeun that I’m going to kill her as soon as possible for telling my secret to you.”

“Hey, you’re being mean! I have right to know that, probably that’s why she told me. And Bomi, don’t stressed yourself too much. Just chill, lil sis. I don’t think that Do Kyungsoo is a bad guy. I mean, well I know that he seems like a nerd kid during our high school days but who knows that he’d already changed? For better, perhaps?” Chorong’s last words made Bomi to think again. Maybe Chorong was right, that’s why Kyungsoo tried to consider her wish at least. Is that a positive sign for her to release herself from this marriage? Well, she hoped so.

“Alright unnie, I’m so done right now. Think whatever you want. I’ll try anything to avoid myself from being married in this such kind of age. Like seriously, I’m just 24! Still young to be compared to you.”

“Yah, Yoon Bomi you better—” Chorong couldn’t finish her words as Bomi ended the call. Whoa, such a mess. She didn’t expect that Naeun would tell Chorong about the news. Crap, Bomi swore that she’s going to rip off Naeun’s head when she saw her later. That young doctor should think twice before telling Chorong about that.

Saturday, NIT Cafe;

Kyungsoo waited for the person that he’ve been wanting to meet since the beginning of the week. Like seriously, it’s raining super heavily right now and it’s already late at night. Thank goodness that he finished up with the check ups early today and there’s not much patients at the Emergency Department. His fingers nervously lingered around the white cup which contain his favourite green tea. Sighs, like seriously where the hell did Yoon Bomi went? She should be here earlier than him. After for a few moment, Kyungsoo finally saw the silhouette of the one who he’ve been waiting through the glass wall of the cafe. There she was, the clumsy Yoon Bomi. He could see that her hair was wet, so does her clothes. Kyungsoo couldn’t help but chuckled lightly as he shook off his head.

“Sorry, I’m late. The meeting became longer more than I expected.” She said as she finally reached her seat. Kyungsoo just stayed silent and watched her instead — Bomi swiftly took off her wet grey-coloured blazer and put it on her lap. Like seriously, it’s raining heavily outside and she couldn’t even find a good place to park her car. And damn, she even forgot her umbrella so she don’t have any choice other than getting through the rain and got wet.

“So, where do we start?” She said as she stared straight at him. For a moment Kyungsoo stayed silent as he looked at her in the eyes. He didn’t know why but something just interrupted him. Is it because wet Yoon Bomi looks so attractive in his eyes? Crap, damn hormones. The surrounding became super-awkward as both of them were having an eye-contact battle.

“Ahem..” Kyungsoo faked a cough as he stared away. God, please help him. He’s not good in this. Like seriously, for the first time in forever Yoon Bomi just looked freaking attractive in his eyes. He couldn’t just stop staring. He took a deep breath before shifting his eyes on her again.

“Okay, now what do you think about proceeding with the marriage?”

Bomi couldn’t help but disagree. Oh come on, they couldn’t just simply agreed to the marriage. It’s not a simple deal. Marriage is the real deal here. Bomi clasped her lips before she opened to speak.

“I thought that we already discussed about this right? And you also knew how I reacted to it earlier when it was announced — so I bet you must already figured out my answer.”

Kyungsoo massaged the bridge of his nose and took off his spectacles frustratedly. Yeah, he should know it from the start that Bomi didn’t have any intention in proceeding this thing. Sighs, why must he deal with this kind of situation in his life? Like seriously, he just wanted to do everything that he can for his parents’ sake.
“Yeah.. I should already know that right? But seriously, it’s our parents’ wishes. Don’t you even felt bad about it?” Kyungsoo’s words made Bomi to be drowned in silence for a moment. Yeah, he’s right but in the same time she’s really against it. It’s her life and she got right to live it by her own. Sighs, reality is so cruel.

“Look.. I know that both of us were not in a good term but still our parents should be the first priority right? I don’t know what’s their wish meant for you but to me my parents’ wishes are everything and I’ll try my best to accomplish it. Including the ridiculous one.” Kyungsoo sounded so serious which made Bomi to gulp her own saliva. By looking at Kyungsoo’s eyes, she knew that the guy was being damn serious. He’s totally serious about proceeding with the crappy arranged marriage.

“Oh god, how I wish that you could let me win for once. Just please understand me — I’m still freaking not ready for this. We’re too young for this, Kyungsoo.”

“We should give a try, then.” Bomi almost couldn’t believe of what she just heard. Does marriage looks like an easy game to Kyungsoo? She just couldn’t understand the latter in front of her. Sighs, she didn’t know that talking with someone who had a high IQ level would be this hard.

“Man, I don’t understand you. Why did you want to sacrifice your own life just because of their wishes? Like seriously I—”

“Because I always looked perfect in their eyes.” Bomi blinked as she saw Kyungsoo heaved a sigh. And she sensed something which seems quite rare to her. His eyes were full of worries. She didn’t sure but she could feel it.

“You don’t know how hard my life was. Don’t just simply assume by what you saw with your eyes.” For a moment Bomi tried to understand Kyungsoo’s words. Something bothered her — his eyes looked sad. It’s such a rare thing. She just watched Kyungsoo as the latter palmed his own face and ruffled his hair. She didn’t want to admit this but holy crap he looks so attractive without those damn spectacles.

“Don’t act like as if you knew everything.” Bomi didn’t know how to react towards his words. She’s confused. And for some reason she felt a thug on her heart when she heard Kyungsoo’s words — is it because he’s sounded so fragile right now or what? The side of Do Kyungsoo that she never saw before — and it’s suffocating her to see him like this.

Bomi couldn’t let herself watching him again. No, she just can’t. She hates it when a slight of pity towards a guy named Do Kyungsoo hits her. She shouldn’t supposed to feel like that. She should defend herself about not proceeding the marriage — just as she planned before she came. She should convinced him to cancel off the marriage but now everything just became so complicated.

“Fine, let’s do this. Cancel off the marriage, just like you wanted. Satisfied?” Bomi looked up to the latter in front of her. He reached for his spectacles before wearing them to cover his beautiful eyes again. Bomi almost couldn’t believe that he simply said that after all those words. It makes her felt guilty. And she hates it. She couldn’t say a word as the latter stood up from his seat. Is he leaving? Her eyes followed his movement as he took off his black-coloured coat that have been wrapping up his body all of the time.

“Take this. It’s cold out there. I’m leaving first.” Kyungsoo said as he hang up his coat over his seat and walked through the exit, leaving Yoon Bomi alone — and confused. Bomi blinked for a few times as her eyes were shifted on the black coloured coat on the seat in front of her. Did Kyungsoo just — no, that’s totally not how a Do Kyungsoo would act. Since when he cares about person around him? For a moment Bomi had this kind of thought, “Maybe Chorong was right. Maybe he’s already changed.”

Bomi slowly stood up from her seat and reached for the black coloured coat which left by its owner. Yeah, it’s such a waste if she didn’t took it. After all her clothes were all wet — perhaps that this coat would provide some warmness towards her before she arrived at home. She couldn’t help but admit that Kyungsoo had a very nice scent as she slipped on the coat to her body. Crap, what is she even thinking? She needs to get back to her sense. After all, Kyungsoo already agreed to cancel off the marriage — and she should be happy for it right? But still, she needs to face off a battle with her parents before all of this totally called off for real. Yeah, a battle with her parents.

“Good luck, Yoon Bomi.” She said to herself, hoping that everything will turn out good. But for some reason, she’s worried of Kyungsoo. How would his parents react towards this? Being a perfect son he was, he must felt so burdened. It makes Bomi think — was she being selfish? She didn’t right? Does she?
