Squish!   Kevin kicked off his slush-covered snowboots, and peeled his wet, sweaty jacket off of himself, and hung it up on the coat peg. He sighed as he wore his sneakers and pulled his knapsack onto his shoulder, and headed out into the hall, trudging as slowly as he always did to the classroom.   Pulled back into Hell as fast as I was pushed out.   The break had ended, and all the students at Ferndale found themselves back in their squeaky desks on a snowy Thursday morning in January, including Kevin and Tao.    They had met up together every day since the first day Tao visited, and spent every afternoon after that playing in the snow, then going inside and down to the basement to watch "Arthur" while eating donuts and drinking hot chocolate from Tim Horton’s, and then just lying around and talking nonsense until Kevin's parents called them both up for dinner and Tao went home. Sometimes, they'd change up the routine a bit, and use Kevin's home phone to prank call. One time, Kevin suggested that they prank call Henry and use that old "Is your refrigerator running?" joke, just for the hell of it.   “But won’t he know it’s your phone?” Tao had asked worriedly, as he watched a snickering Kevin punching numbers into the phone.   “No way, he can’t see the number.” Kevin had replied, smirking, putting the ringing phone to his ear. His eyes then widened. “Here, here, he answered!” he whispered excitedly, shoving the phone over to Tao. Tao fumbled with it hesitantly before finally picking it up to his ear.   “Hello?” the voice in the phone asked. Tao bit his lip worriedly, not sure what to say. “Uh...”   Kevin nudged Tao eagerly and mouthed to him. “Ask him if his refrigerator’s running!”   Tao shook his head slowly with narrowed eyes at the older boy while arching his eyebrows as if saying “What the hell?” “Uh, is your refrigerator...running?” he said into the mike hesitantly.   “Uh, yeah?” the voice replied.   Tao looked at Kevin with a nervous look, waving his hand at him as if asking him “What now?”   “Then you better go catch it!” Kevin whispered through his hands.   Tao nodded and smirked. “Well then, I better go catch it!” he shouted into the mike, then looked at Kevin in an eager manner.   “NO!!” Kevin smacked his face with his hands, frowning. “I meant for you to say it to him!” he hissed. Tao was about to object when they both heard the voice from the phone talking.   “Ha-ha, very funny, Kevin.” the voice said sarcastically. “I already knew it was you, anyways.”   Kevin froze and ripped the phone from Tao’s hands, a look of disbelief on his face.    “What?! R-really, Henry?” Kevin asked. “B-but how?”   Henry snorted. “I have caller I.D., smartass.”   “Since when?!”   “Since we changed our phone to a new one, which I already informed you about six months ago.”   Kevin shut his eyes and hit his knee lightly, gritting his teeth. Tao covered his giggling mouth with his hands, trying not to let a full-blown laugh out at Kevin’s major screw-up.   “.” he whispered away from the phone, smirking at Tao. “I totally forgot.”   It was all fun while it lasted, but Kevin didn't really mind being trapped at school anymore, now that he had Tao with him; the small boy made the daily seven hours of his semi-miserable life all the more worthwhile.    As long as I've got my little Pan
