“You’ve got to be kidding me,” he scoffed, starting to walk away.

I ran to grab his wrist for only my arm to be flung away.

“Don’t touch me!”

I tried to speak, “Please listen to me! I can explain!”

He pierced me with a glare that seemed to reach my soul, “Why would I listen to you if the only things I’m seeing right now are lies? Huh?!”

I dug my nails into my fists, hoping the pain my heart is afflicting me would go away or at least been lessened from the new pain. But no avail. What was said was the truth. I gaped my mouth open, but my vocal chords couldn’t even make a single noise.

“See you can’t even speak.”

Thanks for stating the obvious. I fought the urge to roll my eyes, but the feeling was easily put aside. I knew now was not the time to be sarcastic as I felt a rush of desperation.

“Han!” I cried.

I can clearly see our bond breaking right in front of my eyes. Deteriorating slowly as the seconds, the minutes, the moments past in silence as we just stood there. Like a fire engulfing everything into flames. Like a paper being torn. Like a rope on its last thread. I attempted to salvage the pieces, but was interfered.

“Don’t call me that!” he yelled. I flinched at the tone of his words, watching him rake his hair in frustration. “Only people I know can call me that,” the volume of his voice lowered and he faced me one last time, “I don’t think I know you anymore.” And he walked away.

There it was. The leftover ashes, the two halves of both the paper and the rope, the connection between us… Broken. I couldn’t do anything to save it, to save us. Because…
