Princess Bae in the crazzzzzy prom

What’s the greatest thing about being a Junior High School student?

It’s the excitement that you feel in your bones whenever they mention the word ‘prom’ and every detailed plan that goes with it. What to wear: a gown, princess style or straight-cut or a Lolita dress; what hairstyle to do: pull up, curled or colored waterfalls; what accessories to use: diamond studded and silver clutch or gold all over; and what shoes to wear put on: Givenchy, Chanel or Lacoste.

And of course, the billion won question, who will be your prom date?

But then Suzy, being Bae Suzzzzzy with five z, doesn’t have to plan anything such since she have her Momo and Dada to prepare these for her. But as exciting as it is, she has one very very big problem that deals with her being in the Prom Committee Room.

“Why can’t I bring Jiyong with me? He won’t make any mess, I promise!”

“Bae Suzy, I already told you yesterday, the days before that and I’m telling you again now, you cannot bring Jiyong with you. It’s okay if it’s really The G-Dragon but no. I know this will hurt Jiyong big time but no pets are allowed in the prom.”

“Jiyongie is not my pet, he’s my best friend.”

“Isn’t Jongin your best friend?”

“Jongin is my very very best boy friend and bestest friend and Jiyong is my best friend. If Jongin can come, why not Jiyong? They’re both my best friends! President…”

“But Jongin is a student here, he’s a boy, a human while Jiyong is a–”

“A boy too, like you and Jongin.”

“He’s a dog, Suzy. That’s the difference.”

Why won’t they let me bring Jiyong?  They said no pets are allowed, but he is not my pet! Besides, he is also a boy – like Jongin, like President, and he’s a mammal like humans.

A mammal. Yes! I know already. Don’t worry Jiyongie, we’ll go to the prom together!

Suzy smiled with her plan. It’s not like an evil plan since ‘evil’ is not her BAE-dictionary for Royalties but somehow like that. She’s too well acquainted with the president that she knows just how she could make him say ‘yes’ without any argument.

She frowns at thought of not doing it earlier.

“I have a question though… are humans mammals?”

“What? Yes.”

“Are dogs’ mammals too?”

“Yes.”

 “Therefore, Jiyongie is a mammal, like us humans, too.”

“Yes.”

“So will you let me bring him to the prom?”

“Yes… what?! No!”

Suzy clapped her hands and jumped. “You already said it! No taking back! Y.E.S! You already said yes!”

“I… No pets are allowed! Yah! Is this some kind of witchcraft?”

“But you already said its okay! I heard it with my two very clean ears so there is no taking back. Besides, and I quote, ‘What is said is said and what is done is done. We cannot undo what we had made before but bear to it with dignity’ which is you inauguration speech right? And, I’m too pretty to be a witch – not that witches are ugly, no.”

Suzy giggled both at tricking the president and having a good memory to memorize such speech. I’m really the daughter of Momo and Dada, we’re all good with memorization!

The President fell silent. How can he refute his own words? He knows it’s a loss-loss situation for him and yes, Bae Suzy won again.

“Okay. Okay. But, you have to return the favor.”

“Sure! Anything just don’t make me clean the place after, please.”

“What? No. We just have a little problem.”

“What problem? I’ll help you. Momo and Dada said that if anyone or anything needs your help, you should help them since if we trace back to the very very beginning we are all part of a one super duper big family. What is it?”

The President smiled. Bae Suzy is indeed a wonderful person. He haven’t even said what the problem is or laid out what he wanted Suzy to do but still, she’s willing to help him eagerly. He can also see that she’s not doing it because he let her bring Jiyong to the prom but because she just wants to help and it’s so awe-inspiring.

How I wish everyone is like Bae Suzy who looks at the world positively, without any dark spots.

“Are you part of the cotillion?”

Suzy nodded. “Okay. But the thing is that the cotillion has more girl participants than boys, its 3:1.  We need more or less 10 more boys to join so we could continue it.”

“Oh! Do you want me to make special invitations for the boys? I could do that. I already have special papers and I could ask Momo and Dada to help me with the designs. I… I could put masculine scent to it too so when they open it, they will automatically say yes! Or, I could go room to room and tell them about this very little problem so they could help us. I mean, I could do it for your part since you’re super busy but don’t worry, Jongin will help me so we could finish it on time then—”

“How sure are you that Jongin will help you?”

“1001% very very sure. I’m his very very first girl friend and he’s mine too. That’s what friends do right? They go to everything together. Why?”

“Because I badly need you to make Kim Jongin say yes.”

“No.”

“Jonginie…”

“Suzy-ah, I’m telling you again for the nth time, I am not going to join the prom and ofcourse not in the cotillion too. You know that I don’t like parties.”

“But I’ll be there! Jiyongie too!”

“I still have to practice my routine for the audition and that’s the day after the prom.  I’ll be too exhausted by then. Do you want me to fail my college application?”

“But we are still in our third year!”

“I know but it’s like the first leg of the auditions. If I pass this, I can go to the summer camp and train but if I can’t then… I’ll miss my chance forever.”

Suzy stood up from the bench, placed her hands on her hips and crinkled her eyebrows.

Jongin will do an audition and will go to the summer camp.

But he never said anything about it. I didn’t even know that it is for his college application. I thought we are the bestest of friends, we even made a promise before in front of Momo and Mrs. Kim but why didn’t he told me? Doesn’t he… doesn’t he want to be my friend anymore?

A tear suddenly left Suzy’s eyes followed by a lot of it and Jongin doesn’t know what to do. Suzy suddenly stood up and then started crying. She doesn’t even say anything which is very very rare and his heart is now racing.

He hugged her tight.  He doesn’t have any idea why Suzy is crying or if he is the reason of this but it felt like it’s the only right thing to do. His very very first girl friend is crying for shouting out loud!

“Suzy-ah, why are crying? Suzy…”

“Because… because you’re gonna stop being my, my friend.”

“What?! No! Why would I stop? Don’t you want me to be your friend anymore?”

Suzy cried a little harder this time and Jongin managed to grab his handkerchief in his pocket and brushed her tears away before she could do it herself.

“What are you saying? We made an unbreakable vow, remember? We are stuck with each other! Why will I stop being your friend? Even if you don’t want me anymore, I’ll still go and stick with you like gum so you won’t have any choice but to be my bestest friend again because Jongin is never without Suzy and Suzy is never without Jongin!”

“But you, you didn’t say anything about auditioning and summer camp…”

“It’s supposed to be a surprise, you know.”

“Still. Why didn’t you tell me?”

“Because it’s a surprise? S-U-R-P-R-I-S-E.”

Suzy finally stopped crying. “Still! No secrets, remember? Even if it’s a surprise - no exemptions.”

“Fine. Fine. You know it now. It’s not a surprise anymore.”

“But… I’m hurt now! You didn’t say anything about it to me, you kept a secret. Hearty Heart is in pain. She says that you should grant her a wish so she would feel good! Jonginie~~”

“Really? I’m so so sorry. Tell Hearty Heart too. Okay, okay, what’s your wish?”

Suzy softly slapped him continuously in his arm. It’s not me who feel bad but Hearty Heart so he should grant his wish not me! Jonginie is such a babo sometimes. Hearty Heart, don't tell him okay? He wouldn't buy me an icecream later if he knew~

“I mean, Hearty Heart’s wish. I’m sorry ah! Stop it~  stop it~”

“Okay. Hearty Heart says…”

Hearty Heart, what is your wish to Jongin? Aha! I know you’re wish already. You really are my Heart Heart, not Jongin’s.

The air smells like violet.

The typical room of black and white drawings of imagination, school works and dreams is now full of sparkling silver and gold glitters. The snowy walls with brushes served as an open closet filled with hanging dresses of different color and style but all equal in exquisiteness and elegance same of that blooming May flowers.
