Third Time's The CharmFor the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23
When Krystal arrived back at the dorms, she was momentarily surprised to see Sulli on her bed, furiously typing away on her laptop with textbooks and papers messily scattered around her. Eyeing the messy bun and pullover/jeans combo Sulli was donning, Krystal deduced her friend- who also luckily was her roommate- was done for the day and working on her homework, like how a good student should.
She then remembered that Sulli always got out of her classes earlier than her on Mondays. The said girl was too engrossed in her homework that she didn’t notice Krystal entrance, and didn’t look up till the latter plopped onto the bed, disrupting Sulli’s concentration.
“Oh, Krys,” exclaimed Sulli in surprise (Krystal unknowingly winced a little at the nickname), “what are you doing here so early? Don’t you have another class to go to in like ten minutes?”
“Yeah, but I decided to skip today,” Krystal confessed nonchalantly as she pulled out her phone from her pocket.
“What?!”
Sulli looked at Krystal with such outrage, the girl had to explained what went down in the library between her and Kai and how she wouldn’t pay attention in class even if she went.
“So there’s really no point in me attending that class,” she concluded, eyes on her Instagram feed, liking a few photos and ignoring others.
Throughout the entire story, Sulli had kept quiet, and even after Krystal finished, she still was quiet. Too quiet for too long. Slightly worried by her friend’s lack of a reaction, Krystal looked up from her phone and poked Sulli’s arm.
“Hey, Ssul, you dead?” Krystal joked, but her grin faded when she caught her friend’s troubled look.
“Krys, I meant to talk to you about this for a while, but I always thought it’d be a bit too early to reopen any wounds, so I never did,” Sulli began carefully and seriously. “But now, I think it’s the right time.”
“What is it?” Krystal asked apprehensively.
“You didn’t love Kai, did you?”
Well. That certainly wasn’t what Krystal had been expecting. Flabbergasted by the unexpected but heavy question, she couldn’t respond until a minute passed with Sulli just intensely staring at her, expecting an answer.
“Uh-um, well, I-” she stuttered, “I-I don’t know. I guess love is too strong of a word to use.”
“Well, did you care enough about him?”
