Final Day (Part 7)
Sharing the Last SunsetA year had already passed and things did really change. But somehow, I kept my promise. I stayed with him until the very end. I was thankful that his mom dropped him by to our house after she had read the letter Mark had written. He wanted to be with me. So, we watched the sun as it sets and ends the day. The light was slowly sinking as the skies were enveloped with deep purple and blue.
Time paced quickly and the sun had already set.
“That was beautiful right?” I told him, “I kept my promise. I stayed beside you until the end. I didn’t cry because you treasured my smiles. From now on I will try my best to start anew. It would be hard, indeed. But I know you want me to be happy. As much as I want you to be happy, this is the best that I could give you. This is the last sunset I can give you. As the sun kisses the sea, I bid you good bye. As the oranges, reds and yellows turn to purples and blues, I will let you go. Goodbye Mark, you had been my sweetest sunset.”
I opened his urn and showered his ash on the bay.
