Final Day (Part 6)
Sharing the Last Sunset“What would you do if I die early?”
I was taken aback with his queer curiosity but I replied, “Of course I would cry.”
“I would like it more if you don’t.”
“Why are you asking me this?”
“Nothing. The idea just popped out of my mind. Maybe because of the sunset, it ends the day.”
“You are being too emotional. Of course, the sun will rise again tomorrow.”
“But what if it one day it didn’t.”
Then our conversation paused. I looked at him and he looked back at me. It was weird because I felt like he was hiding something from me but then he smiled and I knew he was fine. He leaned slowly, eyes closed as he held both of my hands. Then he pulled me in for a kiss. He opened his eyes and said, “Stay with me until the end.”
“Why are you saying this as if this is good bye?”
“We’ll never know.”
“You are scaring me.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Do you want something to eat?”
“Let’s just enjoy the scene a little longer.”
Then he pulled me closer from his side as we watch the orange skies turns to deep purple and the light from the sun sinks to the sea.
