Suspicions
Jealousy and desiresOkay so, before you start reading this chapter. The scenes, schedule timings may be different than what goes on in reality with Apink. So it will get jumbed up. But still, these events do happen. :)
The morning was pleasently cold, with occasional soft breezes that Bomi's unprotected cheeks and hair. She barely had time to change and grab her coat before they were hustled out of the dorm by an unusually irratiable manager. Walking, to the dark car that was parked by the roadside, Bomi glanced around her discreetly, searching for Chorong. Maybe that kiss indicated that something special was developing between them. If that was the case, Bomi would be more than happy to accept it. It was just a matter of the public eye, and possibly the memebrs as well.
Bomi spotted Chorong chatting with Namjoo casually a distance behind her, while taking long strides towards the car. She noticed that Chorong's smile came so naturally to her when she was with other members, like she was veritably happy being around them. Bomi found herself smiling back even though Chorong never saw it.
The interview progressed smoothly. Naeun had sustained a painful muscle cramp in her calf and would much rather rest with her leg outstretched than stand with a placid mask that obscured all her pain. It was a surprise that their manager allowed her to. Throughout the interview, since Chorong was seated beside Bomi, she had unexpectedly touched Bomi on the arm or her hand, all amidst the familiar laughter at Eunji's statements.
Bomi's gaze wandered down to where Chorong had touched her and back to her face, trying to control her rapidly beating heart. It was as if the kiss had never happened, that they were still best friends who had random arguements. To be honest, Bomi missed the warmth of Chorong's lips against hers. She had gazed at Chorong a little too long to be unnoticeable, Bomi realized, as Chorong nudged her.
Bomi had sensed Eunji's frequent glances directed at her and out of friendliness looked back at her with a grin, hoping that Eunji had not noticed the weird atmopshere hovering around her and Chorong. To Bomi's discontent, she merely smiled - the beam that consisted of lots of hidden meanings - and looked away, at the camera instead. A tug ppulled at her heart. Was Eunji okay? Had she forgotten about the night before?
Having no time to speak to Eunji that morning, Bomi was left in the dark. She had to find out, the guilt was chewing at her heart. Eunji is an extremely good, kind friend for anyone to have. Losing her would be a drastic, irreplaceable mistake. Once again, Bomi found herself leaning towards Chorong while laughing despite Eunji's cold stares stinging her.
At the hallway, Bomi approached Eunji who was on her way to buy a cup of coffee from a nearby cafe. "Eunji, are you alright about last night?" Bomi finally found her voice.
"Why wouldn't I be?" Eunji smiled.
"You seem really troubled. I just want to apologize for everything from ignoring you, to kissing Chorong," Bomi drawled, focusing on the marble floor beneath her feet.
"Well, you have your priorities-"
"Eunji, you are my best friend. I will always put you first, no matter what," Bomi interrupted with unpredicted vehemence which seems to trigger something inside Eunji because the latter had a glimmer of indignance in her eyes.
"That's all I will always be to you. Do you always do that? Kissing Chorong?" Eunji asked, eyebrows furrowed in genuine confusion. For a second, Bomi thought that Eunji was about to burst into tears. She had never seen Eunji so vulnerable before. Her insecurities were always concealed by her beautiful smile that Bomi admired.
"No. Never until last night. I really don't know what I was thinking at that moment. She just enticed me. But I don't like Chorong that way seriously...you should know me," Bomi's anxiety and fear grew at the blatant lie of not liking Chorong in that way.
Eunji, unfortunately saw past it and a tear cascaded down her face, "I guess I really don't know you like i thought i did, Yoon Bomi."
With that, Eunji stormed off struggling for Bomi not see her tear stricken eyes.
The car was warm and comfortable. Bomi was sitting at the backseat beside Eunji who had gotten over herself, and Naeun who was looking out the window longingly. Chorong was at the passenger seat again. She seemed to be so far away that Bomi couldn't reach her.
"Naeun is your leg better yet?" Eunji turned, completely ignoring Bomi who shrugged.
"Yes, it still hurts a little though," Naeun smiled, unsure why Eunji was suddenly conversing with her.
"Will you be able to perform?" Eunji questioned curiously.
Naeun clutched her leg, prodding, poking and moving it to test its limits. "Of course, just not hard dances. It may act up again."
"Luv isn't hard but I keep messing up," Eunji chuckle to which Naeun laughed along.
"You aren't the best dancer like Bomi so its acceptable," Naeun threw a look of playfulness over to Bomi who responded by sticking out her tongue mockingly.
Without further warning, Eunji hugged Naeun for a moment startling the younger. "I hope you get better soon Naeun-ah."
Was she doing that to make Bomi jealous? It was highly unlikely as Eunji is a naturally affectionate person but the way Eunji had her back completely towards Bomi and the flicker of hurt in her eyes had Bomi thinking otherwise. Chorong had looked back abruptly at Naeun's sudden silence. At that moment, their eyes met and Bomi's heart began racing again. Chorong looked away so quickly, that Bomi felt a little insulted.
Namjoo got out of the car last with Hayoung, heading to the stage to perform a stage. "Hayoung. Hayoung," Namjoo elbowed Hayoung who was adamantly glued to her phone.
"What unnie?" Hayoung looked up at where Namjoo was looking, at the members who were walking ahead of them.
"Do you feel like something is off with the members?" Namjoo eyed the pair.
"No?" Hayoung made her reply as short as possible before returning her attention to her phone again.
"Look, look at Chorong and Bomi unnie," Namjoo shook Hayoung by the shoulders. Hayoung slightly annoyed looked up again.
In front of them, Bomi held out her cup of piping hot coffee, cajoling Chorong to take a sip by means of patting her back and her persuasive words. Chorong who was oblivious to the fact that the coffee was absolutelyburning hot, drank it unknowingly. Shrieking, Chorong let her tongue meet the cool air of Korea while fanning it furiously."Yah! Yoon Bomi!" Bomi laughed mockingly revealing her white teeth. As a result, Chorong had whacked Bomi on her upper arm so hard, the coffee nearly fell out of her tight grip.
"See, they look so much like a couple don't you think?" Namjoo said more to herself than to Hayoung, her imaginary beard,
"That's how friends behave, unnie," Hayoung rolled her eyes.
Just then, Bomi pretended to be whispering to Chorong, cupping in the direction of the cameras. But instead, Bomi lightly kissed Chorong's cheek. "It's okay unnie."
Amazed but mostly shocked, Hayoung gaped. "Wow, how did they manage it?" Namjoo, arms folded proudly, smiled, "I knew it."
