Tears slowly started escaping her eyes and before she could even inhale another breath she heard a voice over from behind her… that same one.

“Yah, don’t feel bad…”

Jessica looked behind her… and that's when her cheeks went rosy red again.

“O-oh, it’s you…” Jessica muttered under her breath, but loud enough for him to hear.

Donghae slowly walked towards her. He saw how bumped she looked and that sprained angle didn’t make it any better.  

“You’re probably stumped over the results…”

Jessica’s cheeks went redder than ever. This wasn’t how she wanted people to look at her. Not with sympathy…

She just shook her head, her eyes avoiding his at all cause.

“Well, you should!” He blurted out.

This made her eyes widen… Huh? She slowly raised her head to face him. He looked pretty goofy with his hair all over the place because of the humidity. But, he also looked very confident as to what he was saying.

“I-I’m s-sorry..?”

He crouched down so their faces were now at the same level. Jessica looked straight into his dark almond-shaped eyes. They were so full of life and Jessica just couldn’t look away from them.

“I mean, I understand that you would feel bad about it. But, you did try and got back up. You know, I think you’re really cool for that…” Jessica was slowly processing everything he had just said. Did he just compliment her? But… didn’t he just…?

“… But, that doesn’t mean you should just sulk over it. This was just the first exercise and it’s not like it’ll count for everything. Look at this result and strive to get better.” He continued. But, Jessica was just memorized by his words. She had never felt this feeling before. It was so beautiful, but it also made her heart do 6 billion cartwheels inside.

He got back up to his feet but Jessica’s eyes were still glued to his. “Anyway, that’s all I wanted to say…” He started to walk the other way, but before he could, he heard a squeak.

“W-wait!”

He looked back to see her face again.

“W-Why… did you… t-tell me all this?” She asked with all the might she had left in her.

Donghae smiled and it was the most genuine smile Jessica had ever seen.

“Let’s just say… I understand.” He flashed another smile and this time, the meek Jessica couldn’t help but smile back, just a little though.

“By the way, you never really introduced yourself to me.” He chuckled at the realization.

“M-My name is J-Jessica. Jessica Jung.”

“Nice to meet you, Jessica. I think I’ve already told you my name, but just in case; it’s Lee Donghae.”

“Nice to meet you too, D-Donghae-sshi” She replied while still staring at his eyes. She just couldn’t get enough of them.

“Well, anyway got to get going. If you need anything, just holler!” He turned around to leave again and without turning back to face her, he said something else.

“Hwaiting! Hwaiting! Hwaiting Jessica!” He yelled with his fists pumped in the air. Jessica couldn’t help but giggle at his behaviour. It was so genuine and innocent that Jessica could feel her heart thumping right out of her chest. This was the first time someone after her Eomma had gave her this kind of inspiration.

“Kamsahamnida, Donghae-sshi. I will try my best, I promise.”

Thus after this day, Jessica had found her new role model; Lee Donghae.

It was getting dark and Jessica was told to skip the rest of the training. She felt really bad about it because now she was behind, but remembering Donghae’s words, she tried her best not to sulk over it. Instead, she decided to train herself, making up for the absence. When it was exactly 11:00 PM, she sneakily left her dorm to one of the training grounds. During dinner she overheard one of the girls talking about doing 50 laps around the track. So, that was what she was going to do.

Since her ankle was still sprained, she couldn’t too much pressure on it. As the daughter of a doctor she had enough knowledge about the medical field. Jessica was always a bookworm, so she always spent her time going through her dad’s medical books. Luckily she knew that her ankle wasn’t too injured, she just needed to put enough strength on her left ankle so her right ankle wouldn’t feel so much strain.

“Alright, Jessica. You can do it!” She started out pretty slow; carefully making sure her right ankle wasn’t being pressured with too much force. Eventually reaching a faster pace she completed 2 rounds in 8 minutes, it was slow, yes. But, Jessica didn’t let it get to her. This was a race between herself, if she can finish 50 laps even with this sprained ankle, then it meant she could do it without one too.

Siwon and Donghae were both in their dorm; because Siwon is from a really rich family, he made sure his room was shared with Donghae so it’d be easier to communicate.

“Hey, I saw you with that girl today.”

“Hm? Who?” Donghae asked his best friend.

“You know. That girl that fell at the race today.” Siwon smirked.

“Oh, her.” Donghae chuckled

“I just wanted to cheer her up. You know how one can feel after something like that…” Donghae said with glum being heard in his voice.

Siwon understood and patted his back. “Good thing you went to her. She probably really needed someone.”

Donghae looked up to face. “Yeah, well she really did. But, she’s still really weird. She barely looks at me when I talk.”

Siwon just laughed. “Yeah, Okay man.”

“Yah! Anyway, I’m going to get something to eat. I’m so hungry.”

“You just ate like an hour ago…”

“Yah, it’s not my fault I have a fast metabolism!” And with that Donghae left a dumbfounded Siwon.

Donghae wasn’t really going to get food; he actually wanted to go practice. It was an old habit, he and Siwon were always good friends, but they were also very competitive. Today at the race, Siwon came in first place while he came in third. He was happy for Siwon, but he’d be even happier if that was himself getting the first prize.

As he walked towards a track field which was far from his dorm so Siwon wouldn’t see him, he saw someone else already there. The person must have had the same idea as him because the person was running around the track; not really fast but still.

He decided to observe the person so he hid behind a tree staring at them. He figured it was a girl because her hair seemed to flow behind her. “So beautiful” He thought

Since it was really dark he couldn’t see her face at all, but the way her body moved so gracefully around the track… he was mesmerized, even if all he could see was her silhouette.  

As he tried to get a better look his foot accidently shuffled against the leaves which made a sudden noise that the girl suddenly stopped and looked his way. Donghae didn’t know what to do, so the first thing that came to his mind was; run!

Jessica was now on her 16^th round and she was pretty tired, but she remembered why she was even here at the military in the first place. To make her Appa proud! She will do anything, even if it mea-

Her thoghts were interupted when she heard a noise coming from the trees. She stopped to see what it was when she saw someone standing behind one of the trees. She was really frightened. Why was someone watching her like this? She wanted to call out to whoever it was, but before she could the person started bolting away. Jessica’s ankle stopped her from running after him, but who was that?...

“Oh well, I guess I’ll just go back then. That person could come back again…”She thought to herself and carefully made her way back to her dorm. Looking around in case she saw someone near.

Donghae literally ran for his life. He finally reached the canteen and decided to stop. He didn’t know why he ran, he could have just called out for the girl, but he was so flustered at that moment. The girl probably thought he was some creep now or something. He took a big breath and calmed down. Leaning againt the wall of the building he stared at the twinkling sky. 

".. She was… like an angel or something…"

OMG, It's been like how long? LAWL, but I'm finally back. This semester is killing me and I even have exams coming up, but I just had to post this chapter çause I've been gone for like forever.
