The Boy and the Girl Who Can’t Be a Couple – Part 2: The Boy
Onew was waiting in a small café nearby. He already had his second cup of coffee and couldn’t bear waiting for Seungyeon anymore. Unable to stay calm, he unintentionally dropped a little sugar on the table. After stirring his coffee and put down his spoon, he picked up the sugar with his finger. Then, he drank a sip of coffee before writing again.
Like every day since he had discovered Hara’s address, he wrote her a letter, always anonymous. He praised her beauty, her smile and manners. They were letters that could melt the heart of any girl. His problem was that he was good with words, not with girls. That’s why he asked Seungyeon to help him win Hara’s heart. Although he was an adult, his vision of love was as childish as the one of a young teenager. He was unable to take the lead.
He smiled when he heard on the radio the lyrics of a song that seemed to have been written for him.
I was the silent one who said that I was never going to have a one-sided love in my life
That I was going to meet someone who loves me
But you are the girl that who broke all of that, how sad is this?
Using the emoticons that I thought were so corny,
I leave a message on your phone
You are the first girl who changed me this much
I’m gonna make you love me
I love you
I’m only happy when you are here
I always just need you
Because of you you you you
I only think of you
You, you, you, now
Love me, love me,
Only look at me
A noise roused him from his trance. It was Seungyeon who had knocked on the window next to him. She wave at him and couldn’t help but showing him her eyes smile. He did the same thing, glad to see his best friend. She entered the cafe and sat in front of him.
‘‘So? What did she say?’’ he said without waiting, for the great displeasure of Seungyeon.
‘‘She said she wasn’t interested, which was entirely predictable. She even threatened to tell her father. Proud as she is, it is hopeless. Forget her.’’
‘‘Ah! You’re right. I know,’’ he said, turning away. ‘‘I have to die since I fell in love with the most cruel girl.’’
‘‘Don’t say that. It’s not funny at all.’’
‘‘Relax. It was just a joke,’’ he said smiling. ‘‘I’m not that naïve.’’ He leaned on the table to come closer to her. ‘‘Tell me what I should do, Nuna. You’re a girl too. What should I do to make her love me?’’
It was too much for Seungyeon to bear. Hiding her feeling for Onew was hard, but this unrequited love would have probably hurt less if she didn’t have to play the matchmaker as well.
‘‘What? You are not giving up?’’ She paused, hoping for a response from Onew. ‘‘I’m sorry. You'll just have to figure it out yourself. I don’t know how to make someone fall in love.’’
She put her bag on her shoulder and stood up. Onew watched her heading for the exit. He didn't try to stop her from leaving.
I only think of you
You, you, you, now
Love me, love me,
Only look at me
A/N: In the original version, Seungyeon’s character doesn’t love Onew’s character, but as an OnYeon shipper, it was impossible for me to forget Seungyeon’s pain. So, how is it so far? Are you bored? Well, wait till I post the next chapter. This fanfic isn’t a cheesy romance. The chapters' length will increase as well.
