My Online Boyfriend

I couldn't help but laugh. The irony was too much.

It was common knowledge to everyone that I refused to date which is why I didn't have a "first girlfriend". Which would have been true except for the fact that technically Lian was my first "girlfriend".

Suzy seemed to share my thoughts because she was laughing too. She was enjoying this all a bit too much.

Lian seemed rather lost but I couldn't manage to supress the laughter long enough to form an educated explanation.

"Kris doesn't date." Lay explained.

"Is he gay?"

Now my laughter ceased completely.

I looked at Lian with tight lips. I softened once I realised how terrified she looked but I couldn't erase the nasty thought of her not seeing me as a potential love interest- not that it should have mattered.

"No. I'm not." I assured, the ghost of a smile still on my face.

"Well that's enough truth or dare for one night." Luhan announced, standing up to stretch out his sleeping limbs.

Chivalrously, he extended his hand to Lian, helping her out of my lap. My legs were hit with the cold instantly, missing the heat of her body against mine.

I gave her a small smile before heading upstairs.

LIAN POV.

"Why doesn't he want to date?" I asked Suzy as she wriggled into my bed. It still amused me that she had that habit.

She didn't answer immediately so I turned to search her eyes. She returned my stare before exhaling in defeat. "His parents died when he was still really young. Obviously it wasn't their fault but that pain he felt when they left him behind...he said he never wanted anyone to feel that pain because of him. At first he didn't even want any friends because of it but Luhan refused to leave him. The guys stuck with him throughout. Kris still refuses to get married or have a family though. He doesn't want anyone to feel that loss because of him."

I didn't say anything in response.

We sat in a comfortable silence that soon lulled us to sleep.

"Tao stop throwing your bags! You're going to hit someone soon!" Suzy screamed.

I bent down, picking up the bag that had just hit me in the face. "Too late." I hissed, slamming the bag against his chest before stomping towards the kitchen. I had already been having a horrid morning, as per usual, but being hit in the face with a sack of leather wasn't helping improve my mood.

"Oh no! Does Lili hate me now?" Tao wailed.

"No she's just a bit moody in the mornings." Kris replied, walking down the stairs. He paused as he past me, tapping my head lightly before moving to clean Tao's mess.

"Huh? How do you know that?" Tao asked, making me turn to him curiously too. How did he know that?

Kris froze and I could have sworn his ears pinked.

"I told him." Suzy chuckled, grabbing another bag and stuffing it in Tao's hands before steering me into the kitchen."Chen. Watch her for a bit and be careful, she bites!" I glared at Suzy who ran back into the corridor after parking me onto one of the island bar stools.

Chen looked up, giving me a charming smile. I returned it reluctantly.

"Someone's a bit grumpy." He chuckled, "I know just the thing to cheer you up."

Before I could ask, he placed a plate of pancakes in front of me. My mouth widened in suprise. Pancakes were one of my all time favourite foods but that wasn't what touched me. Besides Suzy, Fei and maids, no one had ever cooked for me before.

I gave him a grateful grin and he ruffled my hair in response. I normally wasn't a fan of skinship, especially in the mornings, but I found myself warming up to him.

Suzy returned, seemingly surprised to find me and Chen in a friendly conversation about our future aspirations.

"How- Why- When- What's going on?"

I raised a brow but she seemed to shock to explain.

"You cooked for her didn't you!" Suzy finally exclaimed, pointing an accusing finger at Chen. "Should have known you would figure out my trick!"

I shook my head at their playful banter and enjoyed my pancakes.

After getting ready, Suzy and I had decided to walk to school considering it was an odd occasion where we weren't late. Beside that, commuting just wasn't our style. We spoke about everything and anything. It was times like this I realised just how much I enjoyed her company- even if she was an overactive infant.

When we reached school I already knew something was different.

Ignoring the weird atmosphere, we headed to my locker which Suzy had conveniently decided was hers too. She had this theory that if we shared a locker we'd never lose each other at school. It was rather fruitless though, since her locker was just around the corner.

"Is it just me or does everyone seem kind of excited today?" I finally asked, scanning the group of girls crowding at the gates as we passed them.

Suzy shrugged, "Maybe because they know the princess has returned."

Princess? I turned to her but before the question could rise to my lips, comprehension washed over me. I pursed my lips in disgust and we both burst into laughter.

"Oh my god guys! Did you see the 6 hot new transfer students? I heard they moved here from China." Jia exclaimed, joining us in front of my locker.

I looked at Suzy in confusion but she simply shrugged once more, "Where did you think they were going to go? They need to finish school remember."

My jaw dropped as I gaped at her. I hated her habit of leaving out the important facts. If they were attending our school we had to be extra careful so that no rumours spread. If teachers found out about our living arrangement, it would cause a huge uproar. Firstly because me and Suzy had lied to the school saying that we lived with a guardian since we were still technically underage. Secondly because living with 6 males would not be something the school would overlook.

I rubbed my temples, allowing Suzy to pull me into our class. From there, things started going downhill.

"As you may have heard, our school has 6 new transfer students from China." The teacher explained and for some reason I felt like he was looking at us. The 6 of them walked into the room, looking as nonchalant as ever. They seemed relaxed. Most of them offered friendly smiles to the class- except Kris who remained stoic.  "Well because of the language barriers, we've had to make some class changes."

There was a chorus of complaints throughout the class but the teacher silenced them by slamming his fist on the table.

He listed a few names, including Sehun, and announced that they would be moved to Jia's class. I looked towards Suzy with befuddlement then towards Chanyeol, who was furrowing his brows probably in contemplation over why the new students had to be put into this class.

The teacher seemed to understand this confusion and answered the unspoken question, "The new students requested to be placed in Suzy and Lian's class in order to cope with the language barrier."

"Fei and Jia in the other classes are Chinese too!"

I looked up at Chanyeol, shocked by his outburst. The rest of the class seemed rather taken aback and I noticed Chanyeol pinking slightly.

My gaze wandered back to the Chinese boys who now seemed rather tense. The room was silent.

Kris was first to break it and I was surprised by how confident he sounded. I wasn't aware that he spoke Korean so well. "We are acquainted with Suzy and Lian so we are most comfortable to be in their class. We'd rather not be separated."

If my jaw wasn't already suspended, now it definitely was. He asserted an aura thick with finality. It was definitely daunting and the class was definitely showing effects of intimidation. No one spoke up. Chanyeol was probably the only one unnerved. He nodded at the boys but I could tell he still wasn't satisfied with the outcome. I risked another glance over my shoulder to where he sat but he caught me, sending me a small smile. I pinked and cast my eyes back to my lap.

"Well if no one else has any objections, I'd like to announce a seating change. Everyone form a line so you can pick a number."

When it was my turn to choose, I sent a silent prayer to whoever was out there that I wouldn't get anywhere in the first 3 rows. I didn't particularly care about my seat partners. Suzy didn't seem to be sharing that thought since she was clinging to the teacher, begging for him to let her sit next to me.

I shook my head in amusement, grinning as the number 29 landed in my hand. Last row, second from the back corner. Although the back corner would have been ideal, it was still an awesome seat. I made my way to my seat, absentmindedly fiddling with the strings of my bracelet as the others drew their numbers. I only looked up when I heard someone shuffle into the seat on my right, third from the corner.

"I guess fate's on my side." Chanyeol smiled widely.

I gave him a meek smile. I had to admit somewhere inside I was glad I had him as my partner and not someone I would be uncomfortable around. A harmony of ooohs brought me back into contexts and I looked at the class. They were all wearing teasing smiles, some even making kissy faces pointing between Chanyeol and I. I flushed naturally and Chanyeol buried his face into the folds of his arms which I suspected was to cover his own embarrassment.

I laughed at the thought and he peeked up at me, offering me a grin.

The ruckus was interrupted by Tao, who grumpily picked up his number and trudged to the seat in front of me. He gave Chanyeol a menacing look but Chanyeol retorted by childishly sticking his tongue out. I bit back a smile and stared out the windows.

The rest of the class began to sort themselves out rather fast- excluding Suzy who complained endlessly about her seat. Eventually the boy diagonal from me, beside Tao, succumbed to her attempts and swapped with her.

I looked over at Kris, noticing him whisper something to a girl. I averted my eyes quickly. I couldn't fathom why I had done so either.

Eventually, he walked to the seat at the back of the classroom, taking the seat on my left. I blinked at him but he didn't look at me, his gaze directed outside the window.

I looked from Chanyeol, who looked back at me with his usual goofy smile, to Kris who finally returned my gaze with an expressionless face and I found myself smiling. Perhaps it was the fact that I was secretly glad my desk neighbours weren't strangers. Facing the front, I spotted Suzy and Tao already bickering- from what I gathered it was about Suzy's desk being too close to his- and I shook my head.

This year was definitely going to be interesting.

"That's so unfair. Why does Kris get to sit with Lian?" Tao whined as we headed towards the cafeteria. Suzy whacked him on the head with a bottle which he then stole to drown out his sorrows. Sometimes I wondered where all these soft drinks would appear from. There had to be a vending machine somewhere in this school.

Suzy told me Tao had a crush on me which I couldn't help but giggle at. I could tell his 'crush' was something different to romantic.

"Speaking of seating arrangements." Luhan continued, somehow appearing beside me, "Is that guy that sits next to you your boyfriend, Lian?"

I was immediately sprayed with what smelt like a mixture of Coke and raspberries. I blinked in horror before looking up to Suzy and Tao who were both holding sodas, wiping their mouths.

Chapter 8: I was not aware of how good this story would be! I'm glad I found it :) It's a really interesting plot that I had never stumbled upon before. I appreciate the originality! But I'm worried... I really like Kris, but I love Chanyeol, and I know both can't end up with Lian so I'll end up heartbroken either way D': Worries aside, though, I'm hoping you update soon. Keep up the good work!
