It’s been few days since the incident between Yoona and Yuri. They’ve been avoiding each other like a plague to avoid awkwardness after their confrontation. They avoid being with each other in one room which is quite hard since both of them were living in the same roof. But as much as they want to avoid  each other, they can’t. There’s still a part of them that cares for each other.

Now, they would have to bear with each other as they wait for their fellow members, Tiffany and Jessica, at the airport.

“Why would we have to do this? There’s manager oppa to take care of this.” Yuri said mostly to herself but Yoona heard it.

“oppa has things to take care off. You don’t have to worry here since few people know about us, they wouldn’t bother us.” Yoona said to the other girl as she looked around for a familiar face.

Yuri scoffed. Then, both of them went silent again. Just then, a loud voice took everyone’s attention.

“YOONA! YUWWRREEE!”

The two girls turned and saw Jessica carrying her luggage as if she’s having a fashion show while Tiffany is waving her hand crazily. Yuri couldn’t help but puke at the outfit that Tiffany has. Everything is screaming pink.

Jessica and Tiffany walked in front of them and smile.

“Wow, I never thought I will get to see the two of you together like this.” Jessica teased. Yuri just scoffed.

Tiffany laughed at the tension that is currently building and playfully slapped her best friend.

“Jessie! You’re embarrassing the ex-lovers! But I must admit, you still look good together.”  the pink-lover winked.

Yoona couldn’t help but sighed at Tiffany. She doesn’t know if it’s on what her unnie said or the fact that she and Yuri will never be the same.

“Yah, if you want to stay here, be my guest. But I’ll get going if I were you.” Yuri turned and left the three of them and immediately the three tailed her.

“Why does this girl is so uptight? What’s wrong?” Tiffany said to her best friend in English so the other two will not be able to understand them.

“Yeah, I don’t know. Ever since they started this movie, she’s like that. You know, I’m guessing she’s just scared she might not help to fall with Yoona again and be hurt that’s why she’s having that cold shoulder.” Jessica replied.

“Hhmm, good point. If I were in her shoes, I would be mad at the situation, too. Maybe I should just quit. Working with an ex who left you without any concrete reason just .”

“She’s Yuri. Even if she wanted to quit, she can’t. She wanted to please everybody and she has her own issues to deal with.” Jessica sighed at her other best friend. She’s really felt bad for Yuri.

“Yah, I know that you’re talking about us, I’m not dumb.” Yoona commented at the two.

“Well, since you heard everything, what can you say, Yoong? Do you understand why Yuri is behaving that way towards you and to people who keep on bringing up about you?” Jessica decided to be upfront about the issue.

Yoona was taken aback about what Jessica said. Did she really understand Yuri?

“Y-yeah, if I don’t understand her, why am I still here, right?”

“Why you’re letting her do this to you?” Tiffany  asked.

“Unnie, it’s not like Yuri did mean things to me. I think everybody would be like her if someone left her like I did, right?” Yoona asked.

“Why did you leave her, anyway?” Jessica asked.

Yoona looked at her unnies and exhaled. “Maybe this is not the best time for this, unnie.”

“When’s the best time? When both of you were ready to mend things up and suddenly, someone will brought it up and you’ll go back to zero again. Really, Yoona? Is that how you want it to be?” Jessica goaded.

The doe eyed girl understand why her Jessica unnie is like this to her. She’s very protective of both of them and she wants nothing but best for two important people in her life.

“Unnie―” Yoona started.

“Maybe, Yoona is right. This is not the best time to deal this. C’mon, Yuri’s waiting.” Tiffany pacified and held Jessica’s hand as they walked to the parking lot.

Yoona woke up suddenly due to the loud banging on the kitchen.  Yoona looked at the clock beside her bed and it says, ‘6:30’. She rolled her eyes. She remembered that its Yuri turned to cook again. Since the two of them lived in the same roof, they would have to divide the chores and cooking is one of them. This is not the first time it happened. Since both of them knew that Yuri cannot cook for her life, she knew that Yuri is the one who’s causing that loud noise outside.

“Damn, we would have to go out for breakfast again.” Yoona rolled out of her bed and made her way to the kitchen.

Yoona yawned as she saw Yuri fighting with the pan.  If it were the “old” them, she would come to Yuri from behind and poured kisses on her attractive neck to pacify her from messing the kitchen.

But that is not the case anymore.

Yoona walked and rolled her eyes at Yuri. “We both know that you couldn’t cook and we talked about this. Leave the cooking to me.” She saw that the kitchen is a mess.

“I don’t want to be a burden. Besides, it’s seems your sleep is so good after you talked to your boyfriend.” Yuri emphasized the word sarcastically which made Yoona rolled her eyes.

‘She’s trying to pick a fight again.’  Yoona said to herself.

Yuri’s been like that whenever Seunggi’s in the picture. She tried to pick a fight and make a point on how Yoona leave her for a guy like Seunggi.

“Don’t start with that again.” Yoona warned as she grabbed the knife from Yuri and started chopping the fruits as Yuri stood beside her.

Every time Yuri brought this topic, the ending would be either Yuri leaves or Yoona. They’re doing the movie as lovers not as enemies.

“Don’t start what? I’m not starting anything. I’m just saying that you’re peaceful when you slept last night because probably, you talked to your boyfriend.” Yuri argued.

Yoona beg to differ. She fell asleep last night not because of Seunggi. The guy is too busy to even check her or send her a message which is not the case when she’s with Yuri. No matter how sick or busy Yuri was, she’ll make time to check on her girlfriend. Now, as Yoona thought of it, how could she replace a wonderful girlfriend like Yuri to a not-so perfect guy like Seunggi.

Yoona fell asleep peacefully because Yuri thought of her. Despite that Yuri gets hot easily, she lowered the air conditioner because she knows that Yoona gets cold easily. Yoona noticed it when she went to the kitchen into the living room to get water in the middle of the night. She saw how Yuri tossed and turned as she fanned herself while sleeping on the sofa. She still refuses to be in the same room with Yoona.

‘Yuri still do things for me unconsciously. Do you still love me, Yuri-yah?’  Yoona thought at that night as she looked at sleeping Yuri. She smiled that Yuri still has her tongue out when she sleeps.

“Well, for the record, I didn’t talk to Seunggi last night. I fell asleep because the air was very comfortable. I really like it.” Yoona stopped chopping and looked at Yuri to emphasized that it’s her that made Yoona fell asleep peacefully last night, not Seunggi.

But Yuri thought otherwise.

The tanned girl scoffed and went to the other side of the kitchen to get plates. “Whatever.” Yuri mumbled.

The two went on through the morning without saying a word to each other.

At the studio office…

Yoona and Yuri went to the studio office for the script reading and to meet the rest of the cast and crew. Everybody were really warm and friendly despite the culture and language barrier. Everybody  put their translator ear buds so they can start the conversation.

“So guys, were you able to study and form your characters?” Sofia Coppola asked the casts which made them all nodded their heads.

 “That’s good to hear, so Yuri, how’re you going to form Choi Anna?” Sofia asked.

Yuri cleared and sat up. Yoona watched her. She knew that Yuri is serious. One of the things that Yoona loved about Yuri is she can be a whole different person when she’s focusing.

“Uhhm, I want Choi Anna to be the not the typical badass soldier. It’s given already. I want her badass but with a soft heart. I read the script couple of times and this is the character that forms in my head.” Yuri explained which she gained nods from the team.

“Interesting.” Sofia nodded. “In what way she’s  a softie?”

“She’s a badass, no questions asked but when it comes to the important people around her, she’s a softie and a goof especially to Da Jung” Yuri looked briefly at Yoona.

“I see.” Sofia agreed. “How about you Yoona, how are you going to form your character?”

“Well,” Yoona looked at Yuri before looking at Sofia, “I want Da Jung to be a very confident girl. She’s one of the greatest doctors in town. Despite that everybody likes her, she’s very loyal to her girlfriend.”

“Well, sadly, the actress who plays her is not as loyal as her.” Yuri mumbled but Yoona heard it. She was about to argue when Sofia asked the two.

“Well, that’s good. So since, you both have the character formed in mind while remaining loyal to the script, how are you going to go with their relationship?”

The ex-lovers looked at each other before looking back at Sofia and the rest of the casts. Despite that they’re like cats and dogs at home, they’re still focus in studying their characters and how would their characters’ be in the film.

They were both surprised at themselves because they’re not Girls’ Generation Yuri and Yoona, they’re not the ex-lovers but it’s as if they’re a different person whenever they study for the film. They’re both actresses who take their job seriously.

“Well, me and Yoona thought that the love that our characters shared are so pure and raw. They’re each other’s first love and always be.” Yuri explained as she looked back again at Yoona.

“Why do I feel that it’s their love story?” Tiffany whispered at Jessica and the ice princess couldn’t help but agree.

“I’m hoping that you two will not have any problems portraying that?” Sofia asked the two.

Yoona and Yuri looked at each other and nodded. They believe in themselves that they can pull this through.

“Yes, Sofia. We can do it.” The two chorused.

“That’s the spirit!” Sofia cheered. “Now, we’re going to do a bit of script reading. I want to start with the two of you first.”

They were all looking at the script to find a scene. Everybody thought that they were going to do a very romantic scene but they we’re all surprised when Sofia blurted out, “alright, let’s do the confrontation scene.”

Yoona and Yuri looked at each other again. They’re not prepared for the scene. They thought they’re going to do a romantic scene for today.

They never thought that their director is unpredictable.

“So, let’s go to the scene where Yoona has to choose between her dad or her fiancé. In this scene, Choi Anna made a decision to kill Da Jung’s dad to save the mankind but Da Jung thought otherwise. She doesn’t agree with Anna’s decision. Hence, Da Jung came into a decision: choose between her or her father. So Yoona let’s skip to the part where you’re reasoning out to Anna. Don’t stop until I say cut, okay?” Sofia instructed which Yoona nodded.

Yoona looked at Yuri briefly and nodded before reading the script.

“You got to understand where I’m coming from, Anna. He’s my father. He’s the only one that I have since my mom’s gone.” Yoona read.

Yuri breathed out before reading her lines, “But he’s a killer, Da Jung. Your dad is a monster! He’s the reason why we’re running to survive! The important people that we have are all dead!” Yuri read as she got into her character, Anna.

“We can stop him in some other way! He’s my dad! He’ll listen to me. I’m her daughter!”  Yoona yelled as she got into her character as well.

They both know that they’re feeling the tension of their characters. They both know where this is headed.

Yuri scoffed and said the lines, “Really?! Do you think he’ll do that?! Did he listen to you when you reasoned out to him that we’re dating? He doesn’t like me, Da Jung. Have you forgotten that he’s mad at us when I ask for your hand to marry me?! He disowned you!”

Yoona stopped and read, “But he’s still my father, Anna. I cannot take it if two of the people I love will kill each other.”

“So you’ll let him kill others?! Is that what you want? Do you want to live in this world full of man-eating creatures? You know it wouldn’t be too long before we’re next.”

Yoona stuttered as she read the next line. She knew that line very well. “I think it’s better for us to break up, Anna.”

Yuri thought she’ll get over that line but she’s not. She knows how hurtful that line is.

“Is that what you want, huh, Da Jung? You choose him over me?”

Yoona tightened her grip on the paper as she heard Yuri said those lines.

“He’s doing it because he’s alone, Anna. He’s erasing everything that will remind him of the past. I believe that he doesn’t intended to be this way. My dad is a good person. I…I want to be there for him.”

“W-what about me? I’ll be all alone,too.” Yuri whispered. A tear dropped to the script she’s reading and she quickly wiped her eyes before anybody could notice it.

Yoona noticed it.

“He…you…”Yoona said as her character stuttered.

“Save it. I don’t want to hear anymore, Da Jung. This will be the last time that you’ll see me.”

Yoona looked up at Yuri before she said her lines, “W-where are you going?”

“You lose the right know when you said that you’re breaking up with me, Da Jung. Do you know how much it hurts?” Yuri cried for her character.

Yoona gasped, “D-Don’t…are you going out there?! You’re going to let them kill you?!”

“What’s out there is nothing, Da Jung. It wouldn’t matter if they’ll kill me. What you did to me hurts more than being eaten alive.”

“AND CUT!”  Sofia finally yelled.

The crowd went silent until one of the cast yelled, “Oh my ing God it hurts so much!” then, he clapped his hand until the rest of the casts and crew started clapping even the director herself.

Yoona and Yuri bowed and smiled shyly. They never thought that despite of the lines were in English, they were able to transcend the characters’ feelings through the lines.

“That was so good! I’m impressed. So impressed with you,guys.” Sofia praised the two.

Yuri wiped her tears as she bowed shyly to the director. “Thank you, Sofia.”

Yoona was watching Yuri the whole time and she couldn’t help but be proud of her. She wanted to know what’s going on her mind as they do the scene.

Does she also feel the time that they were in that situation?

The script reading ended and they’re ready for the shooting in the next few days. Jessica, Tiffany, Yuri and Yoona were all in the car to drop off the two before going home.

“Well, that went well.” Jessica commented as she sat at the back of the car with Tiffany.

“Yeah, I cried when they read that scene. I can imagine what it’s like in the movies.” Tifffany gushed. Then she asked the two,“So, what were you guys thinking as you read that scene?”

The two girls in front gasped but before they could say anything, Jessica beat them to it.

“Of course they can relate to that scene, Ppani. They’ve been there.” Jessica knocked the pink-lover’s head.

“Shut up, guys.” Yuri mumbled as she drives.

“We’re just reading from the script.” Yoona commented.

“Yah, since when you’ve ganging up on us? Are you friends now?!” Jessica argued.

The ex-lovers looked at each other awkwardly before Yuri turned back to the road.

“Awkward.” Tiffany sang.

Nobody said a word on that whole car ride.

It’s been days since they started shooting for the movie. Jessica and Tiffany were there support the ex-lovers  with their script and be their anchor since they’re still not as close as they wanted to be. After the script reading and the incident at the car, things were worse for the ex-couple. They refused to talk to each other unless it’s work-related. Yuri refused to be at home and most of her time was spent to her cousin, Vivian’s place.

“So, how are you and Yuri?” Jessica asked Yoona.

The actress is currently on her make-up chair for her make-up as she prepares for a scene with Yuri.

  “Well,” Yoona sighed.  “nothing new. We still couldn’t stand each other. If you’re asking about what happened after the script reading well, we avoid each other like plague. She’s staying with her cousin since she’s in town for a school project or whatever that is. We only see each other when we’re talking about the film.” The doe eyed girl looked at Jessica and said, “I guess it’s a bad thing, right? Taking this project is not making us do any good.”

Jessica studied her dongsaeng and asked, “So you finally want to patch things up with her?”

“Unnie, I’m not going to get her back. I’m just―”

“I know. I’m not saying anything like that. I just think that this is good to start new and forget the past. I know it’s not easy but it’s better than not doing anything.” Jessica reminded.

“I’m doing this for the movie, unnie. I want to do great in this. I’m sure Yuri, too. We’re Girls’ Generation after all.” Yoona defended herself. She doesn’t want Jessica to think that she has other motives that’s why she wanted to get close to Yuri again.

‘You have a boyfriend, for Goddamn sake, Yoona.’ Yoona reminded herself.

Jessica studied Yoona again and she’s not convinced. She knew that her two close friends are still in love with each other.

“Arasso, whatever you say.” Jessica exhaled.

Yoona was about to argue when the production assistant came in.

“Ms. Yoona, your scene is up next.”, the PA reminded. Yoona nodded as she stood up.

“Good luck, Yoong.” Jessica smiled.

“Thanks, unnie.” Yoona nodded.

“CUT!”

Sofia yelled disapprovingly. She looked at the two actresses in front of her. They were supposed to do a sweet scene with each other. They’ve been doing the same shot over and over again the director was not satisfied with it.

Sofia sighed for the nth time and looked at the two stars. This is not what she’s expected of the two. The two girls in front of her were not the girls she met at the script reading session that they had.

Sofia walked at the two and sighed, “Guys, we’ve been like this for the nth time.” She started at the couple. “You’re supposed to be lovey-dovey and sweet like any engaged couples do. But all I see are two awkward girls. I know that this would be hard for the two of you but I expected both of you to do this. You’re both great, I know that. I saw that when we did our script reading. I’m expecting you guys to sort this out.” Sofia talked to the ladies.

Yoona looked down in disappointment. She exactly knew what Sofia is talking about. She felt that there’s something lacking with her chemistry with Yuri. She knew that she needs to fix this with her if they both want to continue this movie.

She looked at the tanned girl and saw that she’s disappointed as well but she’s so damn good at hiding it.

‘As expected of you, Kwon Yuri. You’re too good at hiding your real feelings.’ Yoona thought.

“ALL RIGHT. LET”S POSTPONE FOR NOW. LET’S CONTINUE TOMORROW!” the director yelled at the production crew before turning back at the two.

“Yoona and Yuri, you two sort this out. I don’t want to regret getting the both of you.” She said and walked away.

Yuri sighed and stood up from Yoona’s lap. She started to walk back to her trailer when Yoona shouted, “YAH! YURI-YAH!”

Yuri stopped and looked back at the doe eyed girl.

“What?” Yuri asked.

Yoona stood up and followed Yuri. “We need to sort this out.”

Yuri rolled her eyes at the girl. “What sorting out do you mean? We don’t need something like that.”

“Yes we do and you know that.” Yoona countered. She reached out Yuri’s hand to keep her from walking away. “Look, we both know that we need to do this movie. After this, we’ll be back to our old selves.”

Yuri looked at her intently and their joined hands before letting go and walk towards the exit. Yoona sighed. There’s no use if they don’t sort this out now. She followed Yuri and saw the girl standing by the door, trying to light a cigarette. Yoona scrunched her face as she walked to her.

“What are you doing?” Yoona asked.

“What?” Yuri asked as puffed.

“Since when you’ve been doing this?!”Yoona looked at her. Never in her life had she thought Yuri would try to smoke. She knew how health buff Yuri is.

“Since when do you care?” Yuri mumbled as she huffed and puffed.

Just then, Yoona grabbed the cigarette from Yuri and stepped on it.

“WHAT THE ?!” Yuri fumed. “WHY DO YOU HAVE TO DO THAT?! WHY DO YOU KEEP ON RUINING MY LIFE?!”

“I’m ruining your life?! You’re ruining yours! Look at you! Look at your choices?! Do you think that’s cool?  Do you think you’re cool?! No! You’re a coward, Yuri!” Yoona yelled.

“WHAT THE DO YOU WANT, HUH?! WHY DO YOU HAVE TO CARE ABOUT MY LIFE NOW?! WE’RE THROUGH REMEMBER?! YOU LOST THE RIGHT THE MOMENT YOU LEFT ME!”

Yoona was taken aback from what Yuri said. The girl is right. She lost the right when she left her. They both have separate lives now and they both moved on to different paths.

Why does she care so much about Yuri?

Does she still love her?

“WHAT I CARE ABOUT IS OUR IMAGE! WE’RE STILL GIRLS’ GENERATION, YURI. REMEMBER THAT!”  Yoona countered.

Yuri scoffed, “And we’re back at this again. What can I say, that’s all you ever cared, right, Im Yoona?”

Yoona exhaled. She doesn’t want to be this way again. She wanted them to talk about the movie. Not about them.

“Yes. I cared because I cared about our members, too. Since the cat is out of the bag, then, let’s get it all out. Maybe this is what we need to talk about.” Yoona started. “I cared for my members, Yuri. You know that. You’re a member, too that’s why I cared about you and I’m not liking what I’m seeing. What happened to the ‘old’ Yuri that I knew?!”

“Do you want to know?!” Yuri asked sharply. “I killed her, Yoona. I killed the old Yuri because that girl is pathetic.”

“W-what?!” Yoona asked confused.

“I killed the ‘old’ Yuri. I killed her because she’s pathetic. She’s letting everybody get her. She’s too weak that’s why her girlfriend left her and replaced her for someone else. She’s too weak that’s why she can’t fight for the roles that she wants. Her pathetic bubbly personality is so annoying that the people think that she’s trying hard to make them like her.”

Yoona couldn’t believe what she’s hearing. How come Yuri said all these things? Why did she change herself? She loved everything about Yuri and all of these are now gone.

“So, if you’re still looking for that girl, you’re not seeing her anymore, Yoona.” Yuri said bitterly as she lighted up another cigarette and this time, Yoona didn’t stop her.

‘This is my fault. This is all my fault.’  Yoona said to herself. ‘But past is past. There’s nothing I can do to take it back. I have to accept her as she is if we want to make this movie work.’

“If that’s what you want, fine.” Yoona exhaled. “We can’t do this movie if we’re like this, Yul.” Yuri’s heart skipped a beat upon hearing her old nickname.

“If you want to do what you’re doing now, I don’t care.  What we need to focus is the movie. We can’t be like this if we’re acting like a couple in the movie.” Yoona explained. She realized that if they continued being cats and dogs, it will not get them, anywhere. “We can talk about us in some other time but we need to finish this first.”

Yuri looked at her. She’s contemplating if she’s going to trust the girl again. But if it’s for the sake of their movie, she doesn’t have a choice but to agree with her ex.

“I…I agree. For the movie.” Yuri mumbled.

Yoona exhaled that finally they come into terms with this and she’s hoping that everything will be okay for the both of them.

“Now, let’s start over again. It’s as if we just knew each other.” Yoona began. Then, she bowed at Yuri and introduced herself, “Annyeong haseyo, Im Yoona imnida.”

Yuri raised her eyebrows at Yoona to see if the girl is playing with her but she saw the seriousness in her eyes so she decided to play along.

“Annyeong haseyo, Im Yoona. I’m Kwon Yuri.” she bowed.

“Nice name. So, we’re going to do the movie as lovers. Will you be okay with that?” Yoona asked.

“Yeah, I already signed the contract, so, I’m up for it.” Yuri shrugged.

“Great, so, from now on, we’ll work together as a team to make this movie successful, okay?” Yoona said as she offered her hand for a handshake.

Yuri nodded and accepted Yoona’s hand. The moment their hands joined, they both felt sparks so, Yuri immediately pulled her hand away and looked shyly at Yoona, “Sure. W-whatever. We’ll do the movie.” She stuttered.

Yoona knew that Yuri felt it, too. So she decided to shrug it off as if nothing happened.

“Good. So, do you want to go for a coffee while we’re discussing this?” Yoona offered.

“Alright, no problem.” Yuri smiled shyly which made Yoona smile.

This could be our start. I can feel it. Yoona exhaled and lead Yuri to a nearby café.
