“Where have you been?” Jiyong asked.


The woman just looked away without answering him.


“I was worried and you didn’t return any of my calls” Jiyong asked again.


She still didn’t answer him.


“I was just here and there” she answered him finally. He noticed she was drunk.


“Why did you drink so much? What happen?” he demanded answers from her. A lot of thoughts ran through his mind. 


“Nothing happen. Don’t worry” she smiled at him but it still didn’t convince him.


“Sunye, dear…what has happen to you? Where did you go these past few days?” Jiyong softened, he never seen her like this before. 


“Ji, I tell you don’t worry. Nothing happened. I just met an old friend of mine. That’s all” Sunye said. Her tone started to become sober.


“You meet an old friend and just disappeared for few days without telling me, how can I not worry?” Jiyong let out his frustration at her.


Sunye didn’t answer him and tried to get up from the sofa.


“Where are you going now? I’m not finished” Jiyong questioned.


“Oh Ji, you sound worse than my mother. I just want to get a glass of water...” As soon as Sunye said that, she stumbled upon herself and almost dropped on the floor but Jiyong was quick to grab her from falling.


“I’m fine. I’m fine” Sunye reassured him but the smell of alcohol from her state otherwise.


“Let me get you to bed, dear” Jiyong said as he lifted her tiny body frames into his arm and brought her to their room.


“Ji, what would I do without you?” Sunye said thoughtlessly as Jiyong laid her on the bed.


Jiyong just smiled without answering her, although deep inside he was still mad at her but at least Sunye is with him now. The explanations can wait till tomorrow, Jiyong concluded.


“Have some sleep, baby” Jiyong said as he pulled the covers on her.


He was about to go when Sunye pulled his hand back. “Stay with me” Sunye said half-conscious.


Without a word, Jiyong went to the other side of the bed and lie down beside Sunye, facing her back. 


“I’m glad that you are back, safe and sound” Jiyong whispered at her ears as he hugged her and pulled her closer to him. He missed her so much.


Sunye held his hand tighter to her waist and whispered, “Ji, you know that whatever happen, I will always love you”


“Yes, I know dear. I love you too. Now get some sleep” Jiyong said, he was already tired, staying up for days looking for her. Now that she is by his side, in his arms, he felt peace.


The high noon sun shone penetrated the high windows of the house and light up the room. The afternoon heat woke Jiyong up as he smiled and open his eyes. But something was not right, his hand felt ‘empty’. Sunye was not beside him. He looked around the room and she was nowhere to be found. He searched the whole house only to realize that he is the only one in it. Frantically, he called out her name many times but only the echo answered him back.

“Hey, Jiyong wake up, wake up” a voice interrupted as he felt something hit his face.


Jiyong opened his eyes to see a female figure standing in front of him, poking her finger at his cheeks. 


“Hey are you alright?” she said. 


“Where am I?” Jiyong asked only to find out he was lying on his sofa. The dream felt so real that he could not distinguish reality anymore. It took a while for him to realize it was actually Yoobin who woke him up.


“You must have a bad dream or something, you were shouting Sunye’s name in your sleep” Yoobin explained.


“Did I?” Jiyong was puzzled. “By the way, when did you arrive?” he asked as he slowly recalled his memory.


“About an hour ago but I didn’t see you at the airport. Ten minutes is too long for me and I couldn’t wait any longer that is why I took the cab here” Yoobin said.


“How long have you been sleeping and this place is a mess” Yoobin continued as she looked around the house.


“I had no idea maybe since yesterday after you call” Jiyong answered her.


“Whatever it is before we start finding Sunye, I think we should start by cleaning your place first” the level-headed Yoobin said.


“Ok, I’ll go get a quick shower while you just helps yourself around here” Jiyong said as he went to his room while Yoobin helped to clean up the mess in his living room.


But minutes later, Yoobin came knocking at his bathroom door. 


“Jiyong, there is someone at the gate looking for you” 


“Okay, I’ll be out in a minute” Jiyong said as he hurriedly where his clothes to greet the unexpected guest. ‘Who could it be?’ he wondered silently.


“Good afternoon Mr Kwon Jiyong. I am here on behalf of the Min family” a guy in a black suit informed him.


“You are from Min’s family. Where is Sunye?” Yoobin asked the guy before Jiyong could even open his mouth.


“She is now with her grandfather” the guy answered.


“Wait, what grandfather? Sunye does not have any family members left after her parents passed away. Are you trying to fool me? I’m going to report to the police if you are found kidnapping Sunye” Yoobin said angrily.


Jiyong was still quiet and trying to process the whole thing. At times like this, he is glad that Yoobin is here.


“Ma’am, if I were to kidnap her, would I be stupid enough to come here” the guy said calmly.


“Well, you are right…” Yoobin was dumbfounded by her own silliness.


“Why did Sunye suddenly disappear like that and how can I know that Sunye is not harmed” Jiyong said as he faced front to front with the guy, his brain is working now. 


The guy stepped back and took out something from his pocket, Jiyong stood in defense mode in case it turns out to be a weapon. But then, he realized it was an envelope.


“Ms Sunye asked me to give you this envelope and also to return this to you” the guy took out a necklace and handed it to Jiyong along with the envelope. It was the necklace Jiyong bought for Sunye’s birthday few years ago.


“Where is she? I want to see her. Can we meet her?” Jiyong asked along with Yoobin by his side.


“I’m sorry but my job was only to pass those things to you. I wasn’t told anything else. Also Ms Sunye requested that please don’t look for her anymore. And if you will excuse me, I shall take my leave now” the guy explained and left soon after. Yoobin tried to catch up with him for more details but he already left with a black car.


When Yoobin came back inside the house, she saw Jiyong still looking baffled, sitting on his sofa while holding the necklace and envelope in his hands. Yoobin knew that he couldn’t bear to open the letter so she volunteers to read it for him. As soon as she opened it, she gasped, “Ji, Sunye is getting married next week” 


“What?” Jiyong shouted in shock as he turned to see a wedding card flashed before his eyes and grabbed it from Yoobin. He read the detail on the wedding card many times hoping that it is just lies.

Dear diary,
Please wake me up from this terrible nightmare and I hope that God will just stop playing His tricks on me. 
Please just bring Sunye back to me, safe and sound.
There are so many questions left unanswered. 
Who is this grandfather of Sunye? 
And why Sunye willingly trust this man as her family member?
But before that I want to know why Sunye is getting married to ... Park Tae Hwan?
