Nowhere
No Regrets
That place between still here yet already almost a memory – it's the nowhere that I want to spend an eternity in. It's the journey that became the destination. It's still the place we had to leave.
~
The sunlight of this late summer morning came creeping in through the closed blinds. It slowly put this room into a dim light until it started getting brighter and eventually the rays falling onto the pillow softly woke me up.
I stretched for a second, then turned around. Placing my chin on my hands I looked at Yonghwa laying next to me on his back, still sleeping soundly. His chest moved up and down with every breath he took and his skin was almost glowing from the golden light that illuminated the room. He looked peaceful with is eyes this softly shut.
After a few brief moments though my lingering gaze seemed to almost wake him up. So eventually I leaned out of the bed, cooling my bed-warm hands on the cold radiator beneath the window. Then I returned to my previous position.
Looking at him for another second I finally placed my now cold hands on Yonghwa's warm neck. He twitched a little, then he grumbled softly “Can you wake me up a bit later...“
But I knew he didn't really want me to stop.
And so I ran my hands from his neck down to his chest across his skin until he slid his own arm towards my hand to place his warm fingers over my cool ones, stopping my movement and warming my hand. Then he lifted his other arm and motioned me to come close. I was still laying there looking at him, chuckling as he repeatedly padded his chest to get me to move towards him, his eyes still closed.
After a few more seconds I gave in and finally I slid into his arm, putting my own across his chest and placing my head on his heart. The soft beat almost made me sleepy again.
And I could sense his smell, still new yet somehow already familiar.
”We should get up though...“ I murmured into his chest and smiled as I saw Yonghwa trying to open his eyes, squinting at me.
“Not yet...” he said while exhaling deeply. His one hand held onto mine, both placed on his torso, while his other arm was slung around my body.
“It's about time...” I almost protested though not really meaning it. Instead I snuggled up closer if that was even possible.
Yonghwa let go of my hand and started to softly my head and simply let out a hoarse, whiny sound of disagreement.
I had to laugh “No really... it's getting late... well late-ish...”
Then, after a deep sigh, he suddenly gave me a quick kiss on the cheek, turning me over at the same time and getting out of the bed while stepping right across me. And just like that he was wide awake. “See...I'm up... your turn.“
I looked at him stunned and laughingly shaking my head at this sudden energy that he managed to display despite almost being asleep seconds earlier.
And contrary to my words, my own body didn't want to leave the warm matress just yet, so I still laid there now on my back with the blanket covering me a bit. And I watched Yonghwa as he picked up a bottle of water, making a few sips. Then he walked to the window, slightly turning the shutters to look outside, leaning against the window sill. Finally he looked right back at me still in bed and smiled widely.
“If you could see what I can see... all these rays coming in from between the blinds, tangling up around your face and body...kinda bathing you in daylight... I could watch that for quite a while, you know...“
I laughed softly, covering my face with the blanket, feeling slightly embarrassed “You can be so cheesy...“
“Eyy... you like it...“ he protested, picking up his acoustic guitar from the floor.
The once empty room was now already plastered with his things, boxes, bags and opened suitcases spread across the floor. Standing in the middle of it all Yonghwa started strumming a random tune, singing along just as randomly.
„You know you like it / my corniness / you are so into it / well... just confess.“
I peaked out from underneath the blanket and laughed.
Yonghwa just looked at his guitar “You know... the body of a guitar resembles the bodyline of a woman.“
I still laughed “Yeah, I know that.“
“I see...“ he carefully placed the guitar down and crawled back onto the matress from the foot of the bed.
I was still laying on my back as he reached the place next to me, laying there on his stomache. Then he hovered closer until his face was above mine and his hot breath ran across my skin. I smiled, feeling warm and content, no thoughts left but still barely able to look directly at him this close, still this nervous excitement imprinted on my nervous system.
Yonghwa leaned down and placed his soft lips on mine, gently kissing me with emphasis. The way his lips moved made me sigh deeply into our kiss as his hand ran along the outline of my body. Barely separating he murmured almost into my mouth “You know... you feel even better than my guitar...“
Then he leaned back in.
And as his kisses became heavy I ran my fingers through his hair and let them trail the outline of the definition of his arms. And eventually he my belly so I whispered “Then just play me like one...“
We both chuckled.
