Luhan/fem!Minseok || words: 993 || drabble || summary: betrayal at its finest

It was a mistake.

Minseok watches in a distance as her mother welcomes another man in her arms, letting her face nuzzle against his chest, eyes closed with a warm smile plastered on each of their faces. It was entirely an accident. She wasn’t supposed to see this, she thought. But here she was, watching in horror as the woman that she know – knew that loves her father so, so much, cheating on his back.

“Yo, Min-min.” When Minseok didn’t respond, Luhan hums in confusion and lets his arms snake around his girlfriend’s waist, not minding the stares that they’re probably getting around the cafeteria. “Minseok, babe? You okay?”

That seemed to snap Minseok back to reality. Finally noticing her boyfriend's worried gaze, she mustered up a convincing smile of her own and turns her body a bit, sliding her arms around the latter’s neck. “Yeah, I am.” She giggles. “I was just thinking about my marks on this test. I’m just worried I might fail.”  

Lie.

Minseok has been living a lie every single day, watching as her mother greeted them good morning with a big smile on her face, welcoming her husband with open arms and a loud kiss on his cheek to brighten up the day. She remembers idolizing her mom – wanting to be like her, so responsible and amazing.

It was a lie. Everything was.

“Minseok, you are starting to worry me.” Luhan pulls her over to the side, stopping when they were at their usual spot, that riverbank with two big sycamore trees in the middle. “Tell me. What’s going on?”

“Luhan, do you love me?”

“So much.” Luhan slides his hands to her arms until they reaches her soft hands. “Kim Minseok, you have no idea how much I love you. It might sound cheesy but,” He chuckled. “I am utterly and irrevocably in love with you so damn much that I find it confusing why are you questioning my love for you. Hey.” He lifts her chin up to meet his gaze. “What’s bothering you?”

Minseok shakes her head. “It’s nothing.”

“It’s not noth-“ Minseok kissed him, nice and slow as if she’s relishing and savoring the feeling and the taste of his lips. “Minseok, you are freaking me out. Seriously.”

“I told you, Han. It’s nothing.” She kisses him again and giggles. “I just want you to know that I’m also utterly and irrevocably in love with you too.”

Her father caught them the night before her graduation. He was about to go home when he spotted a familiar car parked against the side of a house, a block away from their home. He was supposed to shrug it off as nothing but then, he found his wife making out with another man inside – no – she was making out with a friend.

Minseok wanted to close her eyes and wishes to be deaf because she cannot stand hearing her parents fighting downstairs. The image of a perfect family was only just an illusion after all and Minseok found herself feeling afraid of the emotion…

It was a rainy Tuesday when her father decided to take her with him to the city. Minseok immediately agreed because she knows that she cannot stand the thought of being in a same place as her mother. The wound was still deep after all. She felt betrayed and no amount of apology from her mother is ever gonna fix it.

It was a rainy evening when she found herself in front of Luhan’s house, soaking wet and shivering from the cold.

“Minseok?” Luhan opens the door wider. “Oh god, what happened?” He grabbed her by the hand and made a move to pull her inside but she remained frozen. “Minseok, what are you doing? You’re gonna get a cold!”

Her eyes flicked to his back and her face immediately darkens. There he was, the man who was the reason why their family is now like this. Her body went stiff and all Minseok could ever think about now was choking that man to death.

Luhan turned his head to look behind him. “Dad, bring me a towel quick!” When Mr. Lu was out of sight, Luhan cups Minseok’s face with his big and soft hands, staring down at her with eyes filled with worry. “Aigoo, you’re gonna get sick. What were you thinking? We still have that road trip with Chanyeol and Baekhyun. If you get sick, we’ll just have to –“

“Let’s break up.”

“The woman…” Luhan gulps hard as tears were starting to fall down again. “The woman that you told me that you’ve been in love with is…” He his lower lip and ran his fingers through his hair. “…you’re having an affair with Minseok’s mom?”

Mr. Lu closes his eyes and sighs. “I’m sorry, son.”

“Sorry?” Luhan lets a bitter laugh escape his mouth. “Minseok broke up with me because of what you did, Dad! The love of my life left me because of what you two ing did! Not only did you managed to break a family, you also managed to break your son’s relationship. Good job! And what’s this? Now, you’re telling me you got her pregnant!”  

“Luhan, please-“

“No.” He shakes his head and scowled. “Don’t talk to me.”

2 years later, they crossed paths once again in the same university that they both went. Luhan saw her walking with her friends and was about to come over and get her to talk to him, but stopped not a moment after hearing those words escape her lips.

“How did you know Luhan, anyway?” Her friend asked.

Minseok’s expression fell but she managed to compose herself quickly. “He’s my brother.”

Not by blood but after his father married Minseok’s mother a year later, they were now siblings by law. Luhan sighed.

Life was indeed cruel.
