Chapter Twelve

~ Powerful ~

“I think there are others like us.” Chanyeol said.

Kai whipped his head to look at the Guardian with confusion. “Like us how?”

“You really are an idiot.” Chanyeol sighed. “Others with magic,”

They were in Chanyeol’s house. It was where he was brought to after the questioning in the Guardian’s Quarter. But even if it’s a private place, Chanyeol should really lower the volume of his voice if he was going to toss that word around.

“What?” the stupid Guardian asked. “Don’t you agree?”

He shook his head. “I don’t really care. I just want to go back to Nebbia.”

“You’re free to go. Who’s stopping you?” Chanyeol frowned.

“I still can’t teleport myself back.” He was frustrated. “I’m fearing it’s a one time thing.”

“And you can’t travel by normal means because you’ll have to pass through Chiaro.” Chanyeol smirked.

“Have a little sympathy, you heartless idiot.” He grumbled. “I could use the difficult route, pass through the Rock Forest to Volta, and slip back to Nebbia, you know.”

“On foot?” Chanyeol raised his brows. “You sure are brave.”

Suddenly, Kai buried his face on his hands. “Ugh, I don’t know what to do anymore. My sisters must be worried sick by now.”

“They have the right to be.” Chanyeol’s voice lost the joking tone.

“What?” Kai raised his head, his eyes on the guardian. “Why?”

“I heard the General of the Chiaron soldiers just freed your companions in that underground fight. And they’re really beaten up.” Chanyeol said casually. “And there are some rumors spreading that someone had escaped the general’s wrath. If someone snitched on who you are, then you’re in trouble.”

He gritted his teeth. “Did any of them died?”

“None that I’ve heard of,” Chanyeol answered. “Just bloodied and broken. But if it’s the general who did it to them, then the damage isn’t only on the outside.”

“General Byun Baekhyun, huh,” Kai had learned of the name from Chanyeol.

Suddenly, he remembered what he had seen back at the tunnel. The ball of light on the general’s hand…

“Hey!” he shouted.

Chanyeol flinched in surprise. “What?”

“The general,” he paused, not knowing how to say it. “He’s like us. He’s got magic.”
