Chapter 2

That driver licence he found in his office three months ago was buried somewhere beneath the piles of paperwork on his desk. Jaejoong had been so hectic that the incident that particular night had no existence whatsoever. It remained hidden somewhere in the back of his head where all his other useless thoughts resided. Jaejoong was tired & decided to close the joint up early & told his employees they could leave. Afterwards, he drove into the darkness on his way to his girlfriend’s condo.

They were at it again, fighting & arguing with each other. She was convinced that the earth underneath had a crack. They had been like this since the day her brother was arrested & imprisoned five years ago. He was convicted of murder & they blamed no one but each other. Not a day goes by without some sort of verbal or physical fight.

“I’m sick of this bull!” Yuri yelled at her parents in frustration.

“I don’t see you doing anything to help?! All you do is go out & come back home drunk!” Her mother shouted, “How am I supposed to help? He killed someone. He should be punished. End of discussion.” Yuri turned to leave.

“They say having a child is a blessing but why do I feel like you are more like a curse?” Her father’s voice followed after her, making her stop in her black megan ankle strap wedge.

A curse? God, that word hurted her. Her older brother had murdered someone so why didn’t she ever hear them call him a curse? She knew why, he was the son, he could do anything & still get away with it. She shook her tears away & left the house hastily.

“I need to get out of here before my head explode.” She said, jumping in her blue BMW Z4 & speed off.

After a session of exhausting lovemaking, Jaejoong & his girlfriend, Sooyoung, decided to go out to a dance club. As soon as they arrived, Sooyoung met her best friend who had just arrived from Europe.

“Can I borrow Sooyoung for a while?” Sunny asked Jaejoong.

He nodded his head, “But not for too long because I might charge interests.” He laughed & watched as they disappeared through the crowd.

He ordered a drink & sat back to watch the people dance, shaking their bodies to the rapid beat of the music. On the opposite side of the club sat Yuri. She had arrived a while ago & was now drunk but not too drunk to the extreme extent. Every guy who asked her for a dance, she refused.

“I’m not here to dance, I’m here to drink so leave me alone. You are blocking my view.” She said to them.

The guys held their hands up & moved away.

Hours had passed & Yuri decided to end the night. Jaejoong, on the other hand, had been waiting for his girlfriend but she hadn’t returned. Moments later, he received a phone call. It was Sooyoung apologizing & telling him to go home first. She & her friend were planning on spending a girl’s night out. Jaejoong told her it was fine & left the club.

Yuri was in the car park, walking crookedly & stumbling a few times on her wedge. She was digging through her black satin bow clutch purse, looking for her keys.

Jaejoong got into his black audi d8, feeling a little frustrated without Sooyoung with him. He backed out of the parking space & speed his way out, making screeching noises with his tires. Yuri was walking across to get to her car when a car came zooming her way. She froze in horror. Jaejoong was driving too fast that he couldn’t step on his brakes in time & hit her.
