I sat at the piano, my fingers skating over the keys. In a few hours, I was getting on a plane to Seoul, South Korea to be with my brother.

 "Mirae, are you done packing?" Umma asked. "You know you can't afford to miss this plane."

From her baggy eyes to her slow walking pace, my mother was the definition of tired. These past few days were tough on her and Appa. No one expected that the Kim family would be involved in such a large debt.

"Yes, Umma. I finished a while ago."

"Good..... I'm sorry you had to go through this, honey." Mirae's mother lowered her eyes. "You know we only wanted the best for you."

I stopped playing the piano. I knew that my parents loved me, but I couldn't stand to think of what they had done.

"Umma, don't worry! Just take care of yourselves. I don't want you to get hurt."

Tears filled my eyes as I thought of my family's future. As of now, my future was forever dark. Umma's and appa's were full of hardships and trouble.

When we finally reached the airport, Umma broke into tears. After awhile, so did I. This is the last time I will see my parents for at least 3 years.

"Umma, Appa, you'll all right?" Wrapping my arms around them, I whispered. "You can't forget about me."

"Oh honey, we would never forget about you. You know three years will be over in no time." Umma said softly. She gently my hair while rubbing my back soothingly. She pulled out of the hug to look at my face. "Don't worry about us okay? We just want you to be safe."

Appa's blurry eyes looked over at me too. "Protect yourself from those boys, Mi."

I let out a choked chuckle. My parents..... that I won't see for years........ "I love you."

Umma started crying again and I could see a small trail of tears on Appa's face.

We love you more, Mi. Take care of yourself."

"Plane 104 is now boarding." I kissed Umma and Appa softly on the cheek before turning away to walk onto the plane. I don't think I can handle their tears anymore.

Wiithout turning back, I whispered. "I'll see you soon."

Then I walked onto the plane before I could hear Umma's cry and Appa's "I love you."
