The first notes of the piano reverberated throughout the room. Lights dimmed. Everyone’s eyes are transfixed on the two people standing in the middle of the room; Jiyong and Dara. He slowly made his way towards her, a smile plastered on his face as he extends his hand for her to hold. And when she clasped her hands in his, everything but them faded. He pulled her closer, placing a gentle kiss on her forehead before wrapping his arms around her.

Dara closed her eyes, keeping the tears that are threatening to fall at bay. She pulled him closer to her, inhaling his scent that she always loved and savored this feeling of being in his arms. This is her favorite place; in his arms. She peeked through her lashes to look at him, only to find him staring at her. A smile tugging at their lips as he bent down and placed a kiss atop her head. She hooked her arms around his neck, pulling him closer until she can feel the steady thud of his heart against her own.

And slowly, they swayed their bodies in sync with the beating of their hearts.

Jiyong remembered the first time he ever laid his eyes on her.

It was love at first sight.

The hardest of it was Jiyong’s scandal in 2011.

It was one of Jiyong’s darkest times. But she was there. Dara. She held his hand and never let him go. During the time when he felt like the world was closing in on him, when he felt like the darkness would consume him, she was there offering her smile at him. That smile that brightens his world.

And when she repeatedly told him that everything will get better eventually, he believed her. And it did. It became better because she was there, holding his hand and never letting him go.
