(Jessica’s POV)

Jessica frowned at the song. ‘aish, when I think that I can escape from the reality, even the song remind me of him,’ she thought. She focused on her drink. Her delicate fingers circled the glass surface. She tried to block the song, but, unconsciously her mind did a quick job translating the song.

And I am feeling so small
It was over my head
I know nothing at all

And I will stumble and fall

Just starting to crawl

 

Her tears started to form and tease to crawl on her cheek. She wanted to stop thinking about him. That was the reason why she was here tonight. She knew that she was risking her own career by being there. She looked at her glass and found it was empty. She raised her glass and asking for refill. The song continued together with her mind replaying the scene of her love life.

‘why is it so easy for him to say good bye?’ she asked herself. They had been together for one year for goodness sake. ‘and why she was the only one to be hurt like this? Is that her fault to preserve her dignity?’ oh, if people ask her the reason they break up, people might laugh at it. And she didn’t understand why that stupid thing important in a relationship. Well, maybe at some point but not when one of them was not ready.

‘do I really love him? I might not love him as much as I think I love him. If I did, I might do what he wanted,’ she continued in her head. Her third glass emptied and replaced with another drink. She smiled at the bartender.

She sighed slowly and shut her eyes as the song ended. ‘Go, please go, and leave me alone. Take this stupid feeling with you. Go, don’t ever appear in front of me ever again. I need you to leave and I know, without you, I can survive. Why? Because I’m Jessica Jung,’ she whispered.

 

“hey, look who we have here. Jessica Jung is in the house,” she heard a voice behind her. She knew that this will happen although this was one of the most exclusive bars in town and people who came here rarely care who’s who. But, she guessed being a public figure will never do any favor. She heard rather than see the owner of the voice took a seat beside her and she knew that he has companions with him. ‘Oh God, not tonight,’ she prayed.

 

“I guess I should treat the lady. What do you guys think?” the nameless guy said, directly agreed by his companions. “you look like you need a company Jessica-shi. Well, I’m more than available for that purpose,” Jessica looked at him and faked a smile. She knew that her smile looked so plastic but she have to. She’s a public figure, remember. She hated the situation, YES, but, she has to take care of her reputation as well.

 

“thank you for your concerns but I’m sorry, I’m prefer to be alone tonight,” she said.

 

“oh no, how can I leave someone who really need a comfort, Jessica-shi. Moreover, someone with bad intentions might approach you,” he snickered. Oh, she really wanted to punch that snickered face.

 

“no really I appreciate your concern gentlemen but I hope you understand,” she tried to free herself from the group. One of the guys put his hand behind her chair and automatically entrapped her in the circle. She looked at the bartender who currently eyeing the group. She tried to make eye contact with him but surely he looked afraid to be the hero.

 

“you should feel honored Jessica-shi. We don’t approach any women here. Considered you being approached, well, you could say that you meet our exclusively high standard,” said the guy who first approached her earlier. She can see how that guy was eyeing her. She felt disgusted.

 

“hello gentlemen,” greeted a voice. “I believe that you are sitting on my seat,” continued the voice. Somehow the voice sound familiar but she can’t figure out who’s the owner of the voice.

(Nichkhun’s POV)

Nichkhun stepped into the bar room. He was so lucky tonight since the club was not so crowded as always. He really needed to free his head tonight. After the argument that he had with his girlfriend, a night at his favorite bar was very much needed. His eyes were scanning around the place, looking for the owner of the place. His searching halted once his eyes met a group of men circling someone that looked so familiar. When the girl moved her head, he can clearly see her face. Jessica Jung, the ice princess of Girl’s Generation.

 

From where he stood, she looked annoyed with the guys. Well, he knew them. The-so-called-F4. Since there were only three of them, you can call the group F4-minus-one. They were quite popular at this area. Well, they were damn rich, typical F4 features. One thing that he didn’t like the most about them was they want girls for their pleasures. And seeing their attention to the ice princess, he knew that he needed, no he MUST help her.

 

He quickly made his way toward the group. He cleared his throat and greeted them. “Hello gentlemen,” he said calmly before continued. “I believe that you’re sitting on my seat.”

(Jessica’s POV)

 

“excuse me. Heh, and I think you’re bluffing. Come to save the damsel? Oh ho ho, look who come to save the princess? Isn’t this infamous Nichkhun Horvejkul?” the leader of the group, well she guessed he’s the leader since he talked the most, replied to the voice.

 

“Jessica, I thought I asked you to wait in our room,” he said. He moved between the guys and held her hand. Jessica raised face and saw Nichkhun, standing in front of her. He offered her a smile and made an eye contact, asking her to play along. Jessica stood quickly and unfortunately her head a bit dizzy since her three and a half glass of drinks were already taking effect.

 

“whoops,” she said before grabbing Nichkhun’s arm. They moved but before even a step was taken, they were stopped by the leader.

 

“look Jonghyun-shi, we don’t want to create any scene here. I’m asking you politely to let us go,” he whispered to leader’s ear. Jonghyun snickered.

 

“well, I won’t let my prey go that easily. Who are you to her? Is she your girlfriend? Oh my, do you think if this goes public, it’ll be boom. BIG NEWS!!” he stared at Nichkhun’s eyes.

 

“I know you wouldn’t dare,” Nichkhun replied.

 

“oh really? Try me.”

 

“Jonghyun, I know your secrets. When I say secrets, I mean A LOT. And I know if these secrets go public, you and your friends will be nothing but rubbish. So, if you can excuse us…” Nichkhun dragged Jessica out from the group and led her to his regular room. Jessica stared at his back as he dragged her along.

 

“are you crazy? What are you doing with them? What if there are any paparazzi around? And what if he started a scene out there?” he asked once he was inside the room. He let go of Jessica’s delicate hand and stared at her dangerously.

 

“well I don’t ask you to come and save me. And it’s not like I’m the one who call for them.” Jessica replied, angry with Nichkhun for accusing her.

 

“OK, we might be not close enough but I know you. and I know that I should help you when you’re in that kind of situation. Plus, don’t you know them?” he asked. Jessica shrugged. She looked totally clueless.

 

“well, they are not good people OK. They approach women for their own pleasures. You shouldn’t be here alone. It makes you an easy prey,” he explained. Jessica swallowed hard.

 

“what’s wrong with you men? Does that the only thing that you guys think?” Jessica asked. Tears started to form again. Only this time not because she sad, but because she’s angry.

 

“well, for sure I’m not one of them,” he confessed.

 

“thanks for saving me by the way,” she thanked him. “why are you here?” Nichkhun asked before taking a seat. “Didn’t you guys have practice this evening?” he continued asking.

 

Jessica nodded her head. “it ended early. I just want to clear something from my head. And I think being here is correct decision but I guess, I’m wrong,” she said.

 

“what about you?” she asked him.

 

“same intention but different reason,” Nichkhun said.

 

“not going out with Fany?” Jessica asked while eyeing him. She can see that he’s frowning. “wae? Trouble in paradise already?” she continued asking. Oh, Nichkhun was currently dating Tiffany, one of her girl group members. Tiffany secretly shared her secret after their first date. Jessica knew about it.

 

“well, I can’t say that was trouble but I did have some argument that lead me to visit this place. She didn’t agree with something I want to do,” he confessed.

 

“Tiffany is quite stubborn but you know right, that’s her charm. Be patient and talk your opinion slowly. You can share you know,” she said. She leaned backward, resting her back onto the black coach.

 

Their conversation was disturbed when Nichkhun’s friend entered the room. He brought Nichkhun’s orders with him. “here you go,” he said before leaving two of them. Nichkhun’s friend explained that he can’t stay with them since he have some urgent matter to attend.

 

“want some?” Nichkhun offered the drink to Jessica. Despite of her slightly dizzy head, she accepted the drink.

 

“well, I ask her opinion about revealing our relationship to public. And she said no,” Nichkhun confessed. He knew that he shouldn’t talk about this with anyone. And with Jessica Jung no less. But, he wanted to talk about it. Even to this girl that he barely knew.

 

“I can see why she didn’t agree with this,” Jessica said. “well, with Yoona and Sooyoung case, I don’t think Fany wants to add any burden to us,” she continued.

 

“what do you mean?”

 

“I understand why you wanted to go public. You want to date with no reason of hiding it. You want to be honest with your fans and such but you should consider many aspects. Did you see any interviews involving GG after Yoona’s and Sooyoung’s relationships were revealed? People were digging our secrets like we have no right of our own lives. We can’t even go out for walk,” she saw Nichkhun nodded.

 

“sometimes, I felt so frustrated. I understand their feeling when people start to dig out your lives.”

 

“well, I do agree with that. but for me, don’t you think by revealing your relationship, tell people what they want to hear, don’t you think it’ll go easier that way?” Nichkhun shared his opinion.

 

“somehow that’s true, but… well, I think Fany has her own reason for fighting to shut your relationship from people. Trust her” Nichkhun gulped his drink and poured some into his glass. He offered another drink to Jessica but she refused.

 

“what about you?” he asked. Jessica shifted from her position. “what about me?” she replied with a question.

 

“why are you here? Alone and confused”

 

She didn’t directly reply. She gulped her drink. Nichkhun stared at her. “I’m a good listener. You listened to me and I should return the favor,” he said when he saw her hesitated to share.

 

“well, you could say that today is not really my day,” she started.

 

“care to explain?”

 

“I broke up with my boyfriend. Just because I didn’t want to give what he wanted from me,” she confessed.

 

“if you don’t mind, what does he want?” Nichkhun asked.

 

Jessica hesitated to say the word. “Nichkhun-shi, I want to ask your opinion. Is sse…” aish, she can’t say the word. She embarrassed to say the word. “is ss important in a relationship. He wanted that from me but I’m not ready for it. I want to wait for it and I want it to happen with someone that ready to be with me for the rest of his life. I want him to respect my part but he didn’t. he didn’t even care,” she didn’t dare to look at him. talking about this, with a guy no less, was awkward. And embarrassing.

 

She heard Nichkhun chuckled at her words. “well, a guy is a guy after all. However, he should respect your opinion. This is not a small matter. That s-word means you’re taking a step forward in your relationship. At least for me,” Nichkhun voiced out his opinion. No wonder Jessica felt so angry at the F4-minus-one group earlier.

 

“you did a good job breaking up with him. you deserve someone’s better,” he continued.

 

“what about we do something to forget all those worries,” Nichkhun suggested as his hand grabbed the menu for karaoke. “why don’t we do some warming-up?” he said. Jessica nodded. “I’m in,” she replied shortly.

An hour later, after countless songs and unrecognized dance, they lay tiredly on the couch. Jessica felt dried up. She never sang like that before. Even in a concert. She can barely open her eyes and her head felt groggy. She was positive that she’s drunk. And so was Nichkhun who sat a few feet from her.

 

“well, that was fun,” she pitched her nose.

 

“sure it does,” agreed Nichkhun.

 

“we should this often,” Jessica proposed.

 

Nichkhun laughed. “not sure with that. I’m a quite busy man. You need to queue up before having any appointment with me.”

 

“prat” Jessica replied. Nichkhun laughed. He didn’t realize that this one hour brought them close together. He used to think that she was cold and she always talked to someone that she knew. For example, among 2PM members, she only talked to Taecyeon and barely greeted the rest of the members. However, this one hour threw away that misunderstanding. She was fun and there’s no mistake at that.

 

“do you think we should call it a night?” she stopped his running thought. He nodded before standing up. “I don’t think I can drive in this kind of condition,” he said. Jessica nodded before replied, “me either.”

 

Jessica stood up and slowly adjusted her position. She stepped forward and unfortunately for her, she tripped and fell forward. She quickly grabbed the first thing that made contact with her hand. And for this case, Nichkhun’s body. She was now on his lap with her hand landed on his broad chest.

 

“whoops, sorry,” she said in her drunken voice. “sorry, sorry, should be careful,” she tried to stand up but unfortunately her necklace was tangled with Nichkhun’s jacket’s button.

 

“omo, sorry Nichkhun-shi. Seems like my necklace is tugged to your button. I’m sorry for your inconvenience but I’ll try to untangled it ASAP,” she said with her hands started to do their job.

 

It was a simple task, if you’re sober. However, with her drunken state, eyes barely open, surely that simple task took some good time. Nichkhun can feel her hot breath on his neck. Jessica’s body was so close to him and he can clearly see her figure now and he can feel her soft curves against his body, pressing close to him.

 

‘she’s beautiful,’ he thought. ‘wooooho, where’s that coming from. Bad thought, bad thought,’ he shook his head. Focus on her hand instead of her face. However, a split second later, he found he was looking at her face again. Now, her pouty lips came into view. ‘I wonder how does it taste like?’ again the thought slipped into his drunken mind. ‘woohoo, stop it khun. Get a grip! This is your girlfriend’s bestfriend for goodness sake.’

 

“why is it so hard to entangled this,” she whispered, more like talking to herself. One of her brunette curls fell and covered her eyes. Jessica was about to bring it out from her view, but another hand beat her. Jessica looked up and saw Nichkhun’s expression. The expression that made her heart gone wild. Jessica ignored it and tried to return to her job but his hand stopped her. He ran his finger along her jaw line and stopped at her chin.

 

‘what the hell is he doing? You should stop this Jessica. this is so damn wrong,’ she contemplated inside her mind. But before she could do any action, she felt her chin was tugged forward in a split second, his lips were on hers.

 

‘he’s kissing me? Oh no no… should stop this but it felt so good. No, this is bad. Sica stop this, think of Fany! And he’s not in his right mind. You either,’ her mind warned her. However, their body seemed to have their own mind. Despite of warnings in their heads, they continued their activity that they knew they’ll surely regret later.
