The Last Task
The Last Single“I’m sorry, but I don’t love you anymore now.”
What? What do you mean by that?
“To be honest, I have never been in love with you since the start.”
Are you kidding me? This is not funny, you know.
“I just pitied on you for these whole times. I’m sorry.”
No. I know that you’re lying to me.
Is it because our broken relationship? Is it because the separation?
“Goodbye, Changmin.”
No!!! Come back! You can’t leave me alone here!
Yoochun! Yoochun! Yoochun!!!!!
Changmin forcefully snapped his eyes open as wide as he could, showing a certain fear in the eyes.
Some seconds has been passed already, yet Changmin was remained still in his position; no matter how much he wanted to. He was desperately trying to move any parts of his body alone, but he just couldn’t do anything. It was as if he didn’t have any strength left inside himself.
With so much difficulty, Changmin was finally able to sit himself up on the bed. He was immediately resting his head on the bedpost with his closed eyes, too dizzy to move more than now. Changmin just hoped that the stupid nightmares would soon get away from him; though, lady luck has decided to go against him instead. The more he wanted to get rid the nightmares off; he was getting even more sick than before.
Changmin opened his eyes again, letting the tears rolled down hardly on his cheeks without any sign of stopping anytime soon. He didn’t even realize since when he has curled into a ball with his closed eyes again and hid his face between their knees. He was gripping on his own arms tightly, didn’t really care whether it would leave any scars or not. What matter for him right now was just taking away all the pain inside his chest, since he hated it too much.
“He loves me. He still does. That’s just stupid and silly dream. That’s not real,” Changmin murmured to himself, making the tears was wasted even more. “Wake up. Wake up. It’s a dream. Please, just wake up already! He has promised to still love me!”
“Changmin! Changmin, can’t you hear my voice?!”
Changmin snapped his eyes open once more when he could hear that someone was suddenly calling out of him, as his shoulder was being shaken over and over again. Recognizing the familiar presence, Changmin immediately straightened his head and looked back at the other person; who has sit down right beside him already. Soon after he has found that his guess was right, Changmin quickly put his smile and wiped the tears off. The last thing he wanted to get was the pity from his only hyung.
“Yunho-Hyung? W- When- When did you come in?” Changmin asked, cursing himself in silence as he has stuttered with his words. “I’m alright, Hyung. Just go back to your dreamland now.”
Of course Yunho would never buy Changmin’s alright in this kind of situation; when he has seen that Changmin was in a pretty bad condition, completely pale and anxious. But as he knew how the other could be a bit persistent, Yunho finally decided to not argue over those. Instead, he was immediately pulling the youngest into his embrace and Changmin’s hair over and over again.
The whole world knew how much Changmin felt uneasy over something like skinship, yet he couldn’t release himself from the older’s embrace. First reason was because he had no strength left to fight against the other; and the second reason was because he secretly needed Yunho’s warmness the most right now.
“It’s just a dream,” Yunho whispered while forcing Changmin to lean on his shoulder. “You know that he never said such things, Changmin. Yoochun loves you too much to be able hurting you that way. Just forget about the dream already, okay?”
“I don’t know, Hyung,” replied Changmin with so many hesitances in his voice.
“Changmin, you know that you couldn’t dwell into the dreams,” Yunho said, trying to persuade the latter that way. “Those weren’t real. You just wanted to think that Yoochun thought so about you. But... But can’t you see that it just gave you nothing but hurt?”
“It’s not just my thought, Hyung,” Changmin retorted back right away. “It’s the fact. Even though he didn’t say it directly to me, I’m sure he felt that way.”
Yunho took a slight glance towards Changmin, feeling sad as he knew that the youngest still thought that way. Even though he surely wanted to convince the latter, Yunho also knew that this wasn’t the right time yet. Since he has given up trying anything for now, he was finally helping the other to lie down on the bed once more. Yunho also put the cover on Changmin to make him stayed warm, ignoring the objection from the other party.
“Let’s we both get some sleep again,” Yunho said with a reassuring smile. “We have to wake up early tomorrow, remember? We’ll have a small meeting with the manager.”
“Hyung,” called Changmin, making the older turned immediately to look at his with his curious eyes. Yet, he wasn’t ready to immediately speak out his mind. He needed to take a deep breath once, before he was sure that he could say it. “I was just wondering, Hyung. I- It’s not that I’m hoping it to be happened, but... will they come?”
Yunho’s expression got stiffened for a second as he didn’t expect to get such question from the youngest. Though, he also felt a slight happiness to know that Changmin actually still cared about them that much. “Sadly, they won’t,” he finally answered with his bitter smile. “They will have a meeting at their place; separated from us.”
Changmin lowered his head as deep as it was possible, wanting to hide his disappointment from the older. He felt ashamed and stupid all of sudden, to think that there was a possibility for the three to come back. He thought that he should hate them after the others have left him and Yunho.
“Good night,” said Yunho in the end with another smile, thinking that his answer was enough.
“Wait, Hyung!”
Yunho was about to leave Changmin and go to his own room again, when his hand has already been in Changmin’s grip. If it was a random person; someone that he valued less than Changmin, maybe Yunho would be mad already. But for Changmin; his only maknae, Yunho was willing to get interrupted anytime and as much as the other needed it.
Changmin desperately wanted to take back his doing just now. He knew that it wouldn’t be like him at all. But as he realized that he would need Yunho around to make him sane enough, Changmin finally gathered some courage to stare directly at the other.
“Stay,” Changmin stated awkwardly, too prideful to ask such things yet couldn’t help it. “Please?”
Yunho chuckled lightly, feeling amused with Changmin’s action. He didn’t understand why Changmin has always been shy to ask that request, though the youngest was asking him the same thing almost every day. Knowing what he should do, Yunho immediately dragged the couch near to the bed. He was smiling warmly as he slumped down on the couch and positioned himself to face Changmin.
“You always troubled yourself too much by pulling it,” Changmin stated with uneasiness. “My bed is not that small, you know. You shouldn’t drag it almost every day.”
“It’s comfortable enough,” Yunho replied as he the youngest’s hair again. “To be honest, I prefer to stay here rather than risked myself to get hit from you.”
“But Hy-”
“Sleep, Changmin,” cut Yunho as he closed his eyes already.
Changmin knew what the sign was exactly meant; stop arguing and go to sleep instead; I ain’t gonna get up from this place. Even though he was still hesitant, Changmin realized that the other couldn’t be persuaded anymore. “Good night, Hyung,” he finally said with a defeated sigh. “... Thanks.”
After around fifteen minutes or so (Yunho guessed) has passed, the older one was slowly opening his eyes in secret. He stared deeply at Changmin, who has fallen asleep once more; looking painfully at the restless expression of the other. Yunho had to say that he hated it too much.
“Please be alright soon,” he whispered softly. “Share your pain and hurt with me. I’ll always be here to help you, Changmin. You don’t have to face everything alone.”
Changmin slammed his
