The Last Day
The Last SingleIt was one cold night in January, 2010.
Yoochun was wandering inside his room; opening the shelf and wardrobe one by one, checking out the spaces under the bed, and even above the wardrobe. He was practically making sure that there would be nothing left out within any spaces of his room; which soon would be his ex-room. As he noticed that there was nothing else inside, Yoochun was immediately sighing deeply. He knew that he would miss everything that has happened inside the room or the dorm itself. But sadly, there was nothing he could do at the moment. Yoochun has made up his mind, even if it was dissatisfying for everyone; including himself.
As Yoochun checked the time out with his phone, he was finally realizing on how late he has been. Thinking the possibility that the other two would freak out anytime because of his absence, Yoochun heavily took his suitcase and headed out of his room. He was walking slowly at the corridor, as he took some glances towards one of the closed and- highly possible locked door. He knew that there was someone inside the dorm. In fact, Yoochun even secretly hoped that the latter would come out from his hideout already. He missed the other too much already, and would be even more.
But knowing too well the other’s personality was Yoochun doubted that he was going to get out and reveal himself in front of Yoochun. He knew that the other was way too mad, upset, feeling betrayed, or whatever; you named it. Maybe Yoochun would be able forcing him since he was indeed stronger, but of course Yoochun wanted it to be done voluntary.
Yoochun sighed again, thinking that even until the last time he couldn’t meet his precious anymore.
“Leaving?”
Yoochun’s heart almost stopped beating right away, too surprised to hear the voice that he has been longing for. He was turning around to face the other as soon as it was possible, somehow felt afraid the other would disappear in a thin air already. When he saw that the other party was there; leaning against the wall with a glass of water on his hand, Yoochun was immediately sighing in relief.
He didn’t even really care on how stiff the other’s expression was at the time. He just knew that he was missing the other too much and glad to know that the other has stopped being too reserved in front of him. Maybe the latter’s mood wouldn’t be as bad anymore; or so he thought.
“Changmin,” Yoochun called in whisper within his soft smile, as if afraid that the youngest would be broken only with his strong voice. “Changmin... Thank you. I thought that you won’t come out from the room. It’s really been a long time since we’ve talked with each other. I- I miss you.”
“I need to eat, drink, take a bath, and do some other things too. You won’t be that dumb to think that I was never leaving the room, right?” Changmin said; sarcastic way too much. “I was avoiding you as much as possible. Just by looking at your face, I would get mad right away.”
Yoochun just remained in silence for some moments, couldn’t defend himself in front of the other. He bit his lower lips a bit too hard, as he never expected to hear such answer from the youngest one. It was hurting him too much, the fact that Changmin didn’t want to meet him for these whole times. Though in fact, Yoochun should have known that. Changmin was one of the most sarcastic and blunt members amongst all of them.
“Are you leaving?”
Yoochun finally snapped into the reality upon the question, realizing the sudden danger that he was going to face soon. The question was simply a threat for him; a demand to grant what the youngest wanted from him. Yoochun unconsciously gulped down due to the nervousness, knowing that either way his answer would just hurt Changmin instead; be it the truth or lies.
“I... I’m sorry that-”
“Stop. I know what you’re going to answer already,” cut Changmin immediately, not letting Yoochun to say the sacred word towards him. He was looking at Yoochun as the sadness was radiated from him rather clear. “I’m the silly one... thinking that you can change your decision. Stupid. Stupid me.”
Yoochun always hated two things from the youngest. First would be his longing eyes; something that could tell Yoochun on how much the latter missed him. The second would be his empty and dark looks on the face; something that could tell Yoochun on how hurt the latter was. Of course Yoochun hated it the most when both of them were appearing together, just... like now.
Yoochun unconsciously stepped forwards, as his eyes were locked with Changmin’s widened ones. Once more, Yoochun knew for sure what the meaning of his eyes was. Though Yoochun had an urge to embrace the other badly, he also knew that Changmin wouldn’t let him to do so. He was afraid.
“Don’t.”
See, Yoochun always got it right if Changmin was on the stake.
“It’s okay. I won’t come any closer than this,” Yoochun said as he immediately stopped his steps. “I promise you, Min. So... please don’t run away and have a talk with me.”
“Lies,” Changmin stated as cold as it was possible; an accusing look was shown on the face. “Since when are you keeping the words for me? You said that you’re going to stay beside me until forever, yet you would leave me soon. You said that you’re going to always protect my heart, mind and soul from any hurt and pain, yet you would give more pains. Never, Yoochun. Never even once.”
“You know that these weren’t what we’ve planned, Min! -”
“Please. No cursing, Yoochun,” Changmin quickly interrupted; gulped down the water from his hand. “Didn’t I tell you that I hate any kind of cursing? You said that you were going to stop, but could you see on what you have done? This was another proof that you never kept your words. I guess... that supposed-to-be love isn’t that strong for me anymore.”
“I love you so damn much!” Yoochun stated desperately. “I don’t know on how I could prove it to you, but if I can... then I would gladly show you on how much I love you. Please, Min. Believe in me. Trust me like you always did in our times together. Please don’t let this lawsuit break us.”
“How can you prove it?” Changmin asked as he chuckled sarcastically. “Isn’t that easy? Stay.”
Yoochun gulped down once more, cursing silently as he should have known it already that Changmin would ask for another absurd request from him. It has always been a Changmin’s way; to make the others got cornered and had no choice beside fulfilled what he wanted. He didn’t know what to say. Yoochun knew that he needed to make sure that the other is alright with his leaving, but... he didn’t know how he could do it. Not when Changmin became the most persistent person in the world.
Changmin smirked cynically. “I know that you can’t,” he said while playing the glass on his hand. “I know that your supposed-to-be love is really not that strong. You’re going to leave me out from your life and break all the promises we’ve made in the end.”
“I’m not leaving you out from my life, Min. I won’t,” said Yoochun again; didn’t realize that his tears were rolling down on his cheek already. “Please let me in already. Stop guarding yourself too much like this, Min. You know that you’re always being a part of me. I will come back for you. I promise.”
“And here comes your other lies,” replied Changmin right away, putting his glass above the shelf beside him.
“I’m not ing lying!” Yoochun replied back within his frustration. All the words from Changmin’s mouth were giving him more and more pains in the heart. He had no idea how Changmin would be this hard to understand, when the youngest was entitled as the most genius amongst them. “We’re going to be alright, Changmin. Trust me. We can face this together, okay? I promise I will be back.”
“You and those stupid two have chosen the ty lawsuit over me and Yunho-Hyung. Is there anything else that I have to understand?” Changmin retorted back. “T
